The only thing that I'm 100% confident of, is that we will sign at least one "star" player. If Guehi falls through it may well be a RW, it may well be someone completely different (Gallagher mentioned). I still think we have decided to sign Guehi and reports of "prepared to break our transfer record" are accurate. I suspect it's a case of when not if. However that's my gut and who knows, we might have already moved on.

I disagree with pretty much all of this.

My stance is this: In an ordinary scenario, I'd want 15m for him. Despite what some would have you believe, he's not shit, he's actually good. He's just no longer at the level we need and he's now behind Murphy in the pecking order. We certainly shouldn't get rid of him for nothing. However, Miggy clearly only wants to leave if the destination suits him and he looks to want to go back to the States. Therefore, because of what a servant he's been to the club, I'd allow him to leave for less money. I think it's probably best for all parties. I'd feel sorry for him hearing the numbskulls in SJP give him grief from the stands. If we can make a compromise with an MLS side, we should do it.

Absolutely. He's not a generational talent like Parish suggested but he's the sort of signing that sends a message to future potential signings. I don't want us to just make the sort of signings that West Ham or even Villa are doing. We need to continue to show that we have ambitions above and beyond and missing out on top targets because of a couple of million doesn't do that. On the other hand, if they decide it's too much, I will back them. They know what they are doing.

Aye most players have a loyalty bonus, which basically means if they hand in a transfer request they lose x millions and presumably there is a little slice in there for the agent too. It's probably not a bad inclusion, all things considered. Just working against us right now.
