Just watched his interview and if you don't think we are selling Bruno in the summer well.....
-
Ah, what you are looking for is the PERFECT signing. Need the old chequebook for those. Edit: Actually not the old chequebook, that has dust on.
-
That Werner signing is exactly what we needed. Except someone who can play from the right. Its got no risk financially, and if it works they have a good player for a lowish fee.
-
Botman, Isak, Bruno and Tonali weren't British? Gordon is British and has been fantastic, likewise Livramento and Trippier before that. That leaves Barnes who got injured when he walked through the door and Hall, who in fairness may turn out a wasted venture. I don't think the Burn/Wood transfers in the first window were fair markers, given our precarious position at the time. Sorry to sound like I'm attacking you but this idea that Howe only likes signing British players is nonsense and the idea that he only signs POOR British players is even worse. Since the takeover, our record in the transfer market has been fantastic. A mix of old and young, British and foreign, short term and long term.
-
I've said it before... Howe was bemoaning his attacking options from the bench for weeks... I'd be shocked if we weren't looking at an attacking player, of some sort.
-
The stadium sponsorship is a tough place for them to go. The training ground sponsorship will come when we build a new training ground. I'm fairly sure Eales and Silverstone know what they are doing.
-
Don't see it as an issue whatsoever. They are both good PL players, with Livramento being someone with the potential to be fantastic. Livramento has shown how good he is, but he's still a work in progress and is rightly being managed carefully. Burn is a steady Eddie, who largely reliable as a player and character but has limitations.

In fairness, the one thing I absolutely trust about our ownership is maximising revenue. I think we will see an astonishingly positive set of figures next time out (from an income perspective) and our commercial side will probably see one of the biggest growth by a football club, ever. We've also had to do it by being sqeaky clean (we'll sort of, Sela, nudge wink).

Thanks I've now got the name Fanny Quickscuttle in my head and intend to use it at every opportunity.

Doesn't half feel like: a) an early tester for perhaps a summer move. Or. b) An agent (he's represented by his family) trying to get his name out for a move in the next 6 months.
-
He's just signed a new contract in September, so Bournemouth aren't vulnerable in that regard. I wonder if he has a release clause of some sort. Bet he'd jump at the chance of the move mind.
-
We ain't getting shit for Wilson, given his injury record and the length on his contract. Although, I'm OK with that since he's one of the few players from the MA years who's actually repaid his transfer fee.
-
Yeah I think I was done by the sarcasm.
-
Solanke would be a superb signing IMO. He's grown into a real quality PL striker. He's not Isak levels obvs, but he's probably not far off Wilson, with the advantage that he's a bit of a unit, which is something we don't have in that area. As always with these things, it depends on the price.
-
He wasn't even a good player when he was good, man.
-
Thinking about it. Couldn't have asked for a better away ground for our fans. Thames boat etc. Hope Eddie goes strong.

I certainly concur that we need a more traditional option at DM. The amount of games where we needed a cool head to come into the middle late on and just protect the defence. We shouldn't tear our blueprint up but we really could do with that option. Carragher did a great piece on what a difference Endo has had on Liverpools midfield, we could do with something similar.

Ah I think I'm misunderstanding the idea of "system". For me putting Phillips as number 6 isn't a change of system. Its the same system, except with someone perhaps more naturally suited to the more subtle side of snuffing out counter attacks. Although, signing Phillips would give someone who could play in a 2 with Bruno comfortably. That would be a change of system.
-
None of them were problems last season. You could put a more traditional DM in there, but that's not a change of system, that's a change of personnel. A change of philosophy, formations, tactics would be suicidal. I wonder if Man City or Liverpool want Klopp/Guardiola to tear up the blue print because they lose a few games?

Why are wanting to change system?

When I see people knock Miggy it annoys me. Not because their criticism isn't correct, he is one footed, a bit of a headless chicken, frustrating in front of goal etc but.... We shouldn't be playing him every week. The poor fuckers game is all about pressing, forcing mistakes, running the channels, relieving pressure etc. The fact that Howe has brought him out the starting line up and weve had a bit of a rest as a squad, it's come as no surprise that we saw the old Miggy yesterday. Players need a recharge. Gordon had been poor for a handful of games for the same reason...he also had that spring in his step back. The difference is that Gordon is a smarter footballer than Miggy, so can be useful at 80% or whatever. I'm sure Howe never intended on Miggy playing this many games and although Murphy isn't an upgrade footballing wise, he's a good player to help Miggy have a rest. We know he has limitations, but he's as reliable as you can get, if you don't over play him. It's a priority position in the summer. We need a different option to Miggy for those games when we need a bit of craft.

In fact, hasn't he been doing his football directorate stuff? Wouldn't be surprised if we are grooming him for a role upstairs in the future.
