  1. Salary caps work within a league if league isn't exposed to external competition from other leagues. The Salary Cap works well for leagues like the NFL where there is no other place for players to go, or like the NBA or NHL where the alternative is playing in Argentina, Europe or the Russian K-League and where even the capped salary is far in excess of the alternate leagues. If the Premier League capped Salaries then all the top players would flood to Spain, France or Germany where the salaries are uncapped.
  2. It's already been said. This isn't a group of supporters buying them, this is a few businessmen, 2 of which happen to be supporters. Yeah I guessed that I still cannot see how anyone would consider SAFC a business investment that would return a profit. I love how the RTGers foaming at the mouth that the new investors will come in an immediately drop 15-30M on a business that loses money, and yet they won't shell out any $$ on ticket fees. If I was coming in as an investor, I would index link the player investment to match day revenue increases, so the more that the fans pay extra for their matches, the more the owner investment is.
  3. The FTM crowd (FreeTicketMarras) won't pay $12 to watch them live. How are they going to expect them to find £50M to buy the club Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. And it keeps Abraham away from rivals like Brighton or West Ham
  5. But look at it this way... might keep the Mackems down a bit longer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Bundesliga has playoffs between 3rd bottom and 3rd top, so it's not unheard of. If you want the best quality teams in the upper division then this makes sense. Who would be better for the PL next season - Hull or Huddersfield? I like the drama from today but have to think that Huddersfield are overmatched Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Please show John Terry in tears in his full kit! Please show John Terry in tears in his full kit! Please show John Terry in tears in his full kit! Please show John Terry in tears in his full kit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Well, if it was tickets "sold" then Sunderland would have dropped from 29th place to about 89th. #freeticketmackems Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah, but its a long way to go - just to see what they have
  10. Saves the fans from buying a new shirt though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Terrible news for Bradley and his family. So sad.
  12. The good news is that he is "Southend" player not "Ex-Newcastle Utd" player Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. The fury from the Groomers (or is that fewry) about the John Terry substitution is amazing. It was cringeworthy from Chelsea to have planned this (compared to how Lahm ended his Bayern career), especially the lined up Chelsea guard of honor for him to leave the field. But calling it embarrassing or small time and a lack of respect to the traveling fans is amazing. Seems like an excuse to avoid the fact that their team got humped in the game, were shite all season and are finally getting flushed when no one will miss them. ***FLUSH***
  14. LOL [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Same emotional cycle with the Custard/Cream striped away shirt (or piss/puss as it was first called). But then we started winning games in that shirt and now it's a fan favourite clasic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Roswell doesn't have a relegation clause - still on 70k per week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Looks like a rugby league team Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Didn't see goal/ Villa game/sending off but ... There is no sending off if the foul occurs during a genuine attempt to play the ball. But "deliberate fouls - including holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity - will still result in dismissal." Such a shame that it couldn't have been worth it to Huawei, just for the lolz that it would have brought.
  20. Pickford to Newcastle is just trolling the Mackems for shits and giggles. I doubt there is more than a 5% interest in him, but it worth constantly talking about it just to winde up Drearyside
  21. Even they don't want to live in their own real world - and I can't blame them - I wouldn't want to either
  22. Aye, I've always wondered that as well. Seems stupid not have the officials more evenly spread across the pitch. It's to encourage the Referee to continue running his full diagonal. They introduced the AAR on the opposite side of the field from the AR and they found that the referee was then not getting into a good position (sort of boxed between the two sets of ARs) and was then getting stuck ourside of the Penalty area in the middle of the field. Moving the AAR to the side of the AR meant that the referee could continue his diagonal run deeper into the left side of the Penalty Area where he had a better view of the shenanigans going on in the Penalty Area.
  23. The TV commentator also mentioned that Sunderland lead the league for the most Premier League relegations. Which is nice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Tbf this is what I've been saying all along, no point sacking him now and pay full price. His contract is either halved or he can go for nowt. Not sure he'd take the latter, but everyone has that 50% clause. That's IF Sunderland thought to/were able to include a relegation clause in Moyes's contract. Personally I doubt it's there and this seems like clutching at straws to avoid the future that's staring them in the face. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
