  1. I think that's a myth which needs to be shot down. He cares plenty otherwise he wouldn't be banning local media for reporting on a protest outside the ground which numbered barely 500 people. Exactly, it's clear he is bothered by what people think and say, was it Llambias or Kinnear who asked us to stop singing nasty songs about him? Because he's bothered he's chosen withdrawal and spite, because that is easier than coming clean and trying again. Just ask all my ex girlfriends. I don't believe that Ashley is driven by Spite or Revenge or a desire to F*** the Geordies over. I think he is an unemotional business man who works by the numbers. I know that its popular on here to think that Ashley does things just to piss off the fans, but I cannot imagine a business man wasting time, effort and energy to screw over their customer base. Sure, they are not driven by the same emotions as the fans, and don't have the win-at-all-costs mentality, but I think that profit and/or ROI are more important than esoterical demands like cup runs or getting into top 6 etc.
  2. You'd assume that one of the outfield players would replace him in goal and the shootout would continue. Not actually sure though. Correct
  3. This is part of the problem in football these days. One owner decides to write off 180M as part of a pet project without any business justification to the project and the market is dramatically and artificially corrupted. What will Etihad's response be to this....spend 250M to defend their position and then a clubs reasonable budget of 50M is suddenly reduced to an insignificant amount.
  4. Wonder what percentage of those passes were backwards, or an immediate return pass. I bet less than 30% were forward or positive in nature.
  5. Nah, it'll be Mark Cuban or someone else wonderful. Cuban would be a good owner....he is not afraid to spend some money for the right players, but it is also a very good business man. Perhaps their really is a middle ground for club ownership. Crazy talk. The two options are Man City or Leeds, there's nothing inbetween.

  7. Sports Direct : producing shit clothes and shit football teams since 2008
  8. They exist but I can't remember where. I'm thinking either Argentina or maybe Spain
  9. I love seeing the overseas games when the tunnel entrance comes up through a trap door in the field (and then closes to seal off the stairs back to the dressing rooms). Always makes sending players off more of a spectacle as the trap door has to open up to let them down into the dressing room. Much more dramatic then just a gap between the benches.
  10. If they exported them to Texas I would eat enough to employ at least that many (sorry but Greggs do not count as real Cornish Pasties)
  11. Or if their training ground was in Surrey and the players only flew in for match day http://www.readytogo.net/smb/posts/17442723
  12. It just cracks me up that the football gods thought it was funny to give them hope by letting them score first, and then they smack them down 5-1.
  13. Based on other events - teams lost all points gained in games where they fielded an illegible player (so minus 1pt from the Southampton tie) and a team was also deducted 1pt for fielding an illegible player in a game that they lost (so minus another 3 points). Which would put them on 21 points
  14. I thought that these were the actual options being proposed (had to check the date) In which case I vote for
  15. The argument for the referee blowing like that is, that when time is up....... is it fair on the defending team to have to keep defending after the game should have been over. Personally, I would rather see the game time be kept on a stadium score clock (heresy I know), with the referee stopping the clock for goals/injuries etc. That way everyone knows that there are only 50 seconds or 10 seconds left etc
  16. At the time (and in real time) it looked like a deliberate handball But when you watch it again, I'm starting to think that Ox-C was actually trying to head the ball wide but as he was diving his arm went out and the ball struck his hand. Not necessarily deliberate, but probably a stone-wall penalty in reality due to the proximity to goal and the bang-bang nature of the action. I'm still surprised that the FA rescinded the ban, especially in light of the fact that "in the opinion of the referee" it was a deliberate handball. Seems like it would have been less drama to have let the RC stand, than to open a can of worms about rescinding referee decisions that, on replay, were incorrect.
  17. There seems to be a general consensus that the East Stand is untouchable due to the listed buildings behind it. However, could it not be extended vertically like Boca Juniors did with the Bombonera? it would look odd but it could prove a cheaper option than building over the road and metro station at the Gallowgate (on land which the club no longer owns so that would be an extra cost) I think that has been suggested but the Leazes terrace complained that it would block the natural light and leave them in a permanent shadow
  18. From the BBC - Sunderland have recalled striker Connor Wickham from his loan spell at Leeds United. The 20-year-old, who failed to score in five Leeds appearances, could be in line to face Liverpool on Wednesday. That will help
