  1. Disappointed about Oscar but far from surprised. As we're now talking to Inter about Julio Cesar, seems like Lloris won't be happening either. Oh well, not to worry, still expecting signings this week being funded by Modric's sale.
  2. All the indications are that VdV will be staying, though it seems more because Hamburg can't afford what Levy wants for him. If Hamburg could afford him I think he would be trying harder to get a move. There's also been talk of us trying to get a Bayern player. It's being said tonight it's Thomas Muller. Would be great but can't honestly see that happening.
  3. Wages my good sir Yah but shouldn't City be asking for more? Makes sense to sell for low tbh. If he's on astronomical wages, they will drop their asking price so someone will take him off their hands. Simple really. The fact that he's not wanted at City determines the 5m fee, which is a derisory figure for a player of his calibre. Ade refused to go elsewhere and City have got to be rid of his wages to enable them to go for RVP. Being said that Lloris and Moutinho are 90% likely to join and Oscar is now 50/50 having been no hope this time yesterday. This could turn out to be the best window ever for Spurs. Still being said that this is being financed by Qatari money, I mentioned this a week or two ago.
  4. Adebayor £5m, City still paying a chunk of his wages Levy done good!
  5. Modric to Real Madrid. The sooner he goes and we (Spurs) move on, the better.
  6. Doesn't look like a official Facebook page at all. Only 11k followers too. Dunno, I'm not an expert on Facebook, know nothing about it tbh, I wouldn't know what was real or what was fake. Happy to take your word for it, just have to wait for the Official Statement before celebrating.
  7. Vertonghen has changed his Facebook status to "Spurs!!!" Dutch media are saying €8m 4 year contract + 2 year option. If that fee is correct, unbelievable piece of work by Levy, even if he did only have 1 year left on his Ajax contract.
  8. and I'm pretty sure Spurs' affiliation, or co-op arrangement, with of one Brazilian 1st Div clubs is still in effect. Having that first right of refusal in that sort of talent pool (admittedly forking 10m+ for top youngsters) is a major plus for them. Most of that emerging & top talent would otherwise end up at one of the Primera Lg's big clubs as their first port-of-call in Europe (or Portugal, enroute to Spain) where there is less of a culture shock effect in their transition to European football. Throw the culture-hub which is Milan into the mix as well ie. Inter & AC Milan will occasionally prize away a blue-chip youngster from Brazil. AVB, culturally & probably football-wise as well, is better equipped than Harry, and better placed to draw maximum benefit from what is a top-end talent pool at Spurs' disposal. These intangibles would have weighed heavily towards his appointment imo. They'll be more aggressive now re- utilizing their co-op agreement. Just another reason to stop laughing at Spurs. it's Internacional, we signed Sandro from them and we have bids in for Leandro and Oscar. The trouble is that the partnership does not include selling their assets on the cheap. They are wanting top dollar for the players and the players aren't desperate to move to Spurs because, amongst other things, we don't pay wages on a par with City or Chelsea and nothing will change much until we get the extra gate receipts from the new stadium. I suppose that it is possible we could one or the other or perhaps even both, but realistically, I would be surprised if we sign either. I'm just happy that Vertonghen and Adebayor are likely to sign soon if they haven't done so already.
  9. The popular opinion is The Qatar Foundation buying 25%. Zeki Fryers confirmed on Twitter that he has signed. Now beginning to turn up elsewhere, though it is Caught Offside ........... rumours that the Qatar Foundation (PSG owners) have taken a 25% stake in Spurs and are making £200 million available? Consortium eyes Spurs. The Qatari consortium that owns mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain is interested in buying 25 per cent of Tottenham Hotspur. The group are keen to invest in the Premier League and have held discussions with ENIC – the company that owns a majority stake in Spurs – and Chairman Daniel Levy. UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations restrict the group from purchasing any more than 25 per cent of another European club due to their ownership of PSG. But the move will still be a significant boost for the north Londoners and should mean new boss Andre Villas-Boas has up to £200 million to splash on wages and transfer fees this summer. The move is likely to mark a change in policy at White Hart Lane. Spurs have been notoriously thrifty in recent seasons and last January former boss Harry Redknapp was restricted to bringing in veterans Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha on free transfers. This summer, the north Londoners have already beaten Liverpool to the signature of Gylfi Sigurdsson, reportedly by offering him a significant wage packet and this could be a sign of things to come. Under the deal, Levy will remain as chairman and ENIC will continue to hold a majority share of the club. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/07/06/tottenham-hotspur-could-be-set-for-200m-investment-as-qatari-consortium-eyes-premier-league-deal/ It seems to be a rehash of the Times article that I referred to the other day, but there could well be some truth in it. It's well documented that Levy has been talking to Qatari Airlines regarding Naming Rights for the new stadium and he's been pictured in Qatar and at the Aspire Academy on numerous occasions. It could also explain the activity in the transfer market, it's being said that Adebayor is expected to sign permanently this weekend, some are saying on a free. There's little doubt that Joe Lewis wouldn't say no to selling his share in Spurs and Uefa regulations would allow The Qatar foundation to buy 25% if they wanted to.

  11. TransfersCentre BREAKING: Have been told that Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has been sold. Don't know when official announced or by who yet! #THFC 7/6/12 7:50 PM https://twitter.com/transferscentre/status/221300185672855553 I don't think that THFC will be sold in its entirety, but someone seems to think so.
  12. Maybe the Qatari money has already arrived, Spurs are trying to spend it like it's going out of fashion http://www.leprogres.fr/football/2012/07/05/tottenham-propose-15-millions-pour-lloris
  13. Hope they dont get him, annoys the f*** out of me how much talent Spurs have in central midfield thats wasted. Sigurdsson wont play at this rate. Mod: Reading the quotes though, he sounds like hes not interested in Spurs and waiting for a big team to knock on the door I think you're probably right though maybe Spurs' link with Internacional may help. It didn't do much good with Leandro though.
  14. Vertonghen in London to complete today per his agent. Won't be any money left for the last day of the window at this rate.

  16. From the Times ............ André Villas-Boas has asked that the future of Luka Modric be quickly resolved after being appointed Tottenham Hotspur head coach yesterday. The Portuguese is anxious that his new club avoid a repeat of last summer when the midfielder's demands to leave unsettled the team and he has identified João Moutinho, the Porto and Portugal midfielder, as a possible replacement for Modric, aside from the present talks to sign Oscar, a playmaker from Internacional, the Brazilian club. Real Madrid are keen on signing Modric but are unwilling to match Tottenham's £40 million valuation or allow Gonzalo Higuaín, the striker who scored 22 Spanish league goals last season, to be part of the deal. Modric wants his future to be clear before Tottenham leave on a tour of the United States in less than three weeks' time. Villas-Boas has signed a three-year deal, worth about £10 million, and cut his ties with Chelsea, who have been paying his salary since he was dismissed nearly four months ago in his first season with the West London club. He visited Tottenham's training ground in Chigwell yesterday morning before travelling to their new facility, in Enfield, scheduled to open late this summer. Tottenham have earmarked the need for as many as six senior players, but chiefly at least two strikers with Rafael van der Vaart's future also unclear. They expect to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, from Manchester City, permanently but face competition from Liverpool for Daniel Sturridge, also a striker, from Chelsea. Villas-Boas expects to complete the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson, the attacking midfield player, from Hoffenheim, this week, although Jan Vertonghen's move could become protracted with Ajax appearing effectively to ask the Belgium defender to waive his right to a share of the £9.7 million transfer fee. Villas-Boas said that the squad had enough quality to challenge. "This is a squad any coach would love to work with and together I believe we can bring success in the seasons ahead," he said. "I feel privileged to be coach." Villas-Boas has been followed by Daniel Sousa, appointed opposition scout, and José Mério Rocha, the fitness coach, who worked with him at Chelsea. Tottenham have yet to name an assistant head coach, although Tim Sherwood is expected to be promoted from technical co-ordinator. Daniel Levy will back Villas-Boas in the transfer market, but the Tottenham chairman expects to spend less than he generates from player sales this summer, which could total more than £50 million. Levy, who prefers to buy young players with resale value, hailed the appointment. "André has an outstanding reputation for his technical knowledge of the game and creating well-organised teams capable of playing football in an attractive and attacking style," he said. Levy's other task is to secure funding and a naming-rights deal to help the club build a proposed 56,250-seater stadium next to White Hart Lane, at a construction cost of £250 million Tottenham are in discussions about selling the rights for £150 million over 10 years, while also selling up to 24.9 per cent in the club to a company linked with the stadium sponsor. It's been previously reported, a few times in the Times and Telegraph, that Spurs have been speaking to Qatari Airlines regarding Naming Rights of the Stadium and that Joe Lewis was negotiating to sell his stake in Spurs to The Qatar Foundation. Although TQF sponsor Barca's shirts and bought PSG, they are still allowed to buy a stake in another club in European competition, according to UEFA regulations, provided that the stake doesn't exceed 25%. Spurs are expected to make an announcement regarding Naming Rights near to the close of this transfer window.
  17. Now, Imagine me coming on your forum and telling all the Spurs fans that Fraser Forster was signing for Celtic. No-one gives a monkeys man. If we had a thread titled 'Others Clubs' Transfers' I think we'd be very interested in what was happening with Fraser Forster. If we weren't interested in other club's transfers, I'm sure there wouldn't be a thread up and running.
  18. Ben Alnwick has signed for Barnsley after his contract expired with Spurs. Possibly the most pointless signing we've ever made. Good riddance.
  19. You expect Modric and VDV to be off then? Definitely and possibly. Think VdV will only go if we get Oscar. Bids for him and another Brazilian were made this morning. Neither rejected, neither accepted, both being considered. Both knowing Sandro and having a Portugese speaking coach might help, certainly won't do any harm. Seems like Levy is doing what he can to give AVB the players he wants to play the formation and style AVB is happiest with. A long time since we've had so much happening this early in a window.
  20. Exciting times for Spurs fans. New Head Coach, first signing done and more on the way. Ade and Vertonghen should be sorted out next, and fingers crossed, a couple of youngish Brazilians as well.
  21. Lot of news coming out of Spurs. Modric gone, Ledley retiring, there is good news as well.
  22. I was told £ but wouldn't be the first time it turned out to be €. Sounds like Joe Lewis is finally opening his wallet.
  23. Corluka to Lokomotiv Moscow £7m
  24. He was quoted as saying by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo: "There is nothing, it is all lies." Look forward to the next ITK explanation for this smokescreen etc. etc. Wait till Monday
  25. Didn't he owe money to the SBR Foundation for losing a bet with someone on here? It was me that pledged money to the SBR Foundation, payable if Modric left. He didn't but I paid the money to the Foundation anyway.
