  1. Arsenal had a £5m (£2m up front + £3m add-ons) bid rejected in January so it had to be more to get him. That said, you're right, obscene fairly describes it.
  2. Now confirmed on the Official Sites. Spurs apparently buying Jamaal Lascelles from Forest for £2.5m rising to £6m with add-ons. Only played once for Forest in the Championship, seems like a tidy wedge for so little experience.
  3. Disappointed to see that Newcastle have not entered the NextGen u19 for 2012/13. Opportunity missed iyam. The six Groups for the NextGen Series 2012/13 are: Group One - FC Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, Olympiacos, Vfl Wolfsburg. Group Two - Manchester City FC, Juventus Football Club, Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce. Group Three - Chelsea FC, AFC Ajax, CSKA Moscow, Molde FK. Group Four - Arsenal FC, Athletico Bilbao, Olympique de Marseille, RSC Anderlecht. Group Five - Liverpool FC, Borussia Dortmund, Internazionale, Rosenborg BK. Group Six - Sporting Clube de Portugal, Celtic FC, Aston Villa FC, PSV Eindhoven Juventus Academy Director, Giovanni Rossi, said: “Juventus will participate in the ‘NextGen Series’ tournament for the very first time, and we are delighted for the invitation. Our boys will give their all to honour the competition and the Bianconeri’s colours.” Steve Bould believes Arsenal’s participation in next season’s NextGen Series will prove to be an “invaluable” experience for the Club’s young players. The under-19s tournament draws together 24 teams from around Europe to play in a competition that closely resembles the Champions League. Its inaugural season was seen as a huge success, and Bould is delighted the Gunners will take part in the 2012/13 campaign. “I went to watch a couple of the NextGen games this season and they were very high in quality, it's something I think we need to be involved in and it is another learning curve because you are playing against European players. “You do the things that the first teams do, the long travels and all the pre-match build-up. You are playing against some mighty big teams so I just think it will be invaluable.”
  4. This is the full Premier League out of contract list: http://www.premierleague.com/content/dam/premierleague/site-content/News/publications/other/premier-league-released-list.pdf So Hoilett isn't out of contract then. Also Lovenkrands' middle name is Rosenkrands. Surely that would mean some of our younger players who have been released wouldn't be on the free transfer list either. Just seen Hoyte is to be released by Arsenal, a decent player for cover. Also just seen Bolton's list, man they are going to have problems next season. We'll find out how good, or bad, Coyle really is. He was rated higher than Rodgers 2 years ago ...........
  5. No. Talks on a new contract are ongoing apparently, may include a coaching role. According to Skysports he won't get a new contract. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/ledley-king-update.page?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social-media LEDLEY KING UPDATE Posted 01 June 2012 1:29pm The end of the season saw Ledley take time to have a minor procedure on his knee. Catching up with Ledley today, he said: "I had a really good start to last season and was pleased to play as many games as I did. A knock in training set me back towards the end, but I opted to carry on playing rather than take the time out to have the knee seen to. Unfortunately that meant that I didn’t play the last few games at the standard I would have liked. "I’ve been discussing things with the Club and my contract expires this summer. The Club has been fantastic in supporting me and given me several options to stay involved with Tottenham. I shall take a view with them pre-season on my future. "Tottenham has been the only Club for me and if I can’t play here then I shall look to be involved in another capacity." A couple of the options offered involve "pay as you play". It's complex as we have Kaboul, Gallas, Dawson, Caulker and Vertonghen (hopefully, had his medical yesterday) as well as Ledley. Ryan Nelsen has been released. Caulker was highly likely to go back to Swansea for another season before Rodgers left, no idea what will happen now.

  7. The draw for the Northern Ireland Milk Cup is being made tomorrow. Newcastle have entered their Academy team this year, Spurs have entered again, as have Man Utd, Liverpool and Benfica amongst others. Spurs Academy are currently competing in the Volksbank Cup in Germany and are off to Mexico for another tournament next month.
  8. He won't be free but there are ways to get around his wages as Ade wants the high wages to maintain his charitable work in Togo, Spurs could make charitable donations and preserve the wage structure. At least City and Spurs are still talking about a deal. Being said in Amsterdam that Ajax and Spurs have now agreed a fee for Vertonghen. Levy was in Hamburg yesterday taking to Leandro's agent (again). Most unlike Spurs, not leaving till the last day of the window.
  9. The quotes regarding Milan are ages old. Levy has been in Amsterdam today with Vertonghen's agent talking to Ajax, there's pics of the pair of them on various sites . All the recent talk has been that he only wants to sign for Spurs, been quoted that he will not sign for anyone else. The delay is all about Levy trying to get the price down. I'm 99% certain it will happen in the next week or so. Edit: Vertonghen has said he wants to play regularly and in his preferred CB position. CL in the coming season isn't a problem if the ambition is there to progress. He has been over a couple of times and has had a tour of the new training facility as well spoken to VdV about Spurs on numerous occasions.
  10. Sahin isn't playing for RM so he just might move for regular games in a deal involving Modric, that's the main reason Vertonghen is keen to move to Spurs ahead of Arsenal and Man Utd. That said, how many player plus cash deals actually happen? Not that many. TBH, I don't think Sahin is at the top of Spurs' shopping list.
  11. Indeed, i have a feeling they will buy Modric not quite sure why just a hunch.... Which falls in line with my belief that Man U will spend alot of money this summer after the disappointment of failing in Europe and losing the league to City. City will outbid Utd just to stop him going to Old Trafford. I doubt if Utd could afford the fee anyway, if Levy turned down Chelsea's £40m he's hardly likely to accept Fergie's £25m. If Modric is sold, I reckon he will go abroad or to City.
  12. Modric to go imho. Not convinced that Redknapp will still be there to spend the money. Levy totally blames Redknapp for not getting 3rd when it was there for the taking.

Ill leave you lot to watch your dvd's of the glory days and sh*g ur sisters! #Peace https://twitter.com/#!/andros_townsend
  14. I didn't think he was but then I couldn't think of anyone else (completely forgot about Kompany). Must remember "Google is my friend", "Google is my friend" ....................
  15. £10m or thereabouts for the Ajax and Belgium captain and the Eredivisie Footballer of the Year? It's a tidy wedge for a player with only 1 year left on his contract but I wouldn't see him as a risk tbh. Think it means Caulker can get another season at Swansea and Ledley can retire.
  16. Spurs have finally agreed a deal with Ajax for Vertonghen, €13m. Players wages of €75k pw were agreed nearly a month ago. Levy obviously thinks the value of the € is going to plummet compared to the £ .......................
  17. Hazard has agreed to join City. His agent informed Spurs (Spurs had been trying to convince him ....... more like wishful thinking tbh)
  18. Lucky Newcastle http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/9258810/Manchester-United-have-cause-for-complaint-as-unique-survey-highlights-Premier-League-errors.html
  19. Being widely reported that Modric is making the same noises as last year, just not mentioning Chelsea this time. As both Manc clubs and Chelsea have all recently enquired about him, my guess is that Levy will sell him this time around. On a more positive note, Vertonghen is quoted by a Dutch journo on Ajax's rejection of Spurs' €10m bid .......... Personally I would take the offer, I would like to play for Spurs, whether they play Champions League football or not
  20. No idea. The screencaps came from Kevin Plank - Under Armour, Inc. Speaks at Maryland at about 5.10 but you can't blink otherwise you'll miss it!!
  21. http://www.flickr.com/photos/78555150@N07/ Spurs have UA kit from next season, these are screencaps from an Under Armour Video Presentation. No idea how close these are to the final designs but some seem to think they're close.
  22. I'm pretty sure he won't. Levy is adamant by all accounts. Vertonghen and his agent were at WHL yesterday after being given permission to leave Ajax's celebrations in Barcelona early. They were in Van der Vaart's West Stand Box during the match and with Levy and Redknapp afterwards.
  23. It was well documented that Chelsea eventually offered £40m for Modric on the last day of the window Levy turned that offer down flat. Spurs weren't holding out for more money, Levy was adamant that Modric wasn't leaving under any circumstances. I said from the outset that I didn't believe for a minute that Modric would be sold, from what I'm hearing it sounds as though Levy is equally determined that Bale won't go in this window.
  24. Levy is saying Bale will not be sold in this window, he said the same about Modric last year and Modric stayed even if he didn't want to. Bale's still got 3 years left on his contract so 1 more year at Spurs would be my guess.
