Left winger. Although there's abviously friction between Spurs and Sevilla nowadays, his buyout clause is £8 or £9m and Ramos thinks he's worth it. Arsenal are also wanting him though. Fantastic dribbler of the ball. He is indeed. Gave Chimbonda a torrid time in the uefa cup last season. I know Ramos has been impressed with Malbranque's application on the left but Diego Capel would be a significant upgrade. Capel would be good but not at the expense of Steed who's probably been our player of the year. I guess we could move him in the centre but those positions are more than likely reserved for jj and a new dm. Oh and i dont actually think he played that well against us in the uefa cup game last season tbh. I don't see Malbranque being moved on tbh, he's played consistently well for us, but he's not a Ramos style of player that Capel is. There's a strong argument for saying Lennon could easily be replaced by Steed should Capel arrive. Poyet confirmed on Catalan radio RAC1 that Kameni and Jarque are definitely potential targets, which tbf, is really only confirming old news though Amelia is still said to be the #1 choice. FWIW, I'm told Newcastle have spoken again about Chimbonda. no bid or anything like that, just asking about the current state on his availability. The interest does seem to be serious though.

I'd imagine so since he has managed an international team before. No, you don't need a Pro badge to manage an international team. Just as well because Grant is still doing the pPro badge course. He's doing it in Israel rather than in England for some reason.
-
Frank Rijkaard is rumoured to be the preferred choice.

I wouldn't have thought so. Players often get little niggles and miss a training session or tow and it never gets mentioned to the press. I think KK has said to the press that MV have only done 3 training sessions for a reason. When KK is working with a squad as small as his, the last thing he needs is someone making the most of a niggle if there is one.
-
Wouldn't you be annoyed if you were KK? 'Little setbacks' means only 3 days training since Keegan's return? Pathetic. As an outsider looking in, it seems like Viduka signed on for one last big payday and not a lot else.
-
I don't think Abramovich will cut his mate out completely. Grant will probably get his old DoF job back. TBH, he's more suited to that in any case.

I'm sorry, who? Next year's best Premiership defender... after Shittu. Where are they moving to in the summer? Spurs obviously Nah, we've already got the best central defensive partnership in the premier league with King and Woodgate. Paul Merson said that on Sky tonight so it must be true. ............ or Merson was in the Green Room for too long before going on air. Ferdinand and Vidic are the best centre-back partnership in the league. I wouldn't argue with that, it was Merson that said it, not me. With King missing probably something like 3 out of 4 matches, I don't think you can honestly say King and Woodgate are a true partnership even though they'll be good when they do play together..

he's had another England cap for starters The friendly against Switzerland? Everyone knew he'd be called up for that game. That's true, but he is the nearest thing England has to Beckham in his prime, SWP is far too erratic and Lennon would be good if he could cross a ball. I think Bentley's value is £15m and rising. Whinger made as big a mistake selling Bentley for £3m (?) as he did buying Jeffers for £10m.

Hughton is a liar too then, because that doesn't match up with what he says on World. Funny how everyone seems to be lying except those who need to sell papers, who of course tell the REAL story. Wouldn't worry about it too much tbh, I think there's as much chance of Kemsley recommending Hughton as there is him recommending Jol to replace Keegan. The Mail article would have had a little more credence if they had at least got the names right, it's Kemsley, not Kelmsley. Unless, of course Kelmsley is advising Ashlee, Malt, Wyse and Keagan!

I hope you don't tbh.

Irrespective of the abilities of the players, I wouldn't sell any of them until the squad has been built up to total 27 or 28 players. I never honestly realised that Newcastle were operating with a squad of just 22 players. That is ridiculous! The NUFC Official site lists 25 players for the first team and reserve squads, Spurs have a first team squad of 27 players not including those out on loan plus a further 16 in the reserve squad (or development squad as Spurs call it because it consists of players who have now outlived their Academy days). This isn't a 'my squad is bigger than your squad' post. Blackburn, who are always recognised as having a small squad, have got 31 listed in the first team squad (excluding loanees and plus 4 more in the reserve squad). It is impossible be competitive with just 22 players. I would simply say that I wouldn't sell anyone till the numbers are up to the right level, then start the process of upgrading and disposing of the deadwood.

 JJ's head should never have been there tbf.

 I still can't believe we made a profit on him. Southgate sure has got an eye for talent.

How much do you think KK will have in his transfer pot? £50m wouldn't buy all those players. Bentley - £13m+ Bent - £10m Poulsen - No idea - £8m? SWP - £10m+ Bridge - £4m Dunne - £1.5m Chimbonda - £3m Close though imo. I'd be amazed if Levy thought about selling Bent for £10m, he wouldn't take a hit of £6m in the space of 6 months or so. He'd rather wait to see if he came good. Chimbonda is available at £8m, it may possibly get reduced a bit depending on the interest, but it won't be coming down to £3m. Poulsen is being reported as having a deal in place to go to Barca, don't know how true it is though. Ramos did want him but not any more apparently so I guess there might be some truth in the story. Because Ramos doesn't want him there might be truth in a deal taking him to Barcelona? Jesus, do you honestly know how that sounds? What if Ramos did want him, would the deal to the worlds most famous club be dead in the water? 12 months by the time the window opens for Bent, and yes he would take the hit if Ramos wanted to sell and bring someone in. He'd be wrong not to do so at his managers request. As for Chimbonda, good footballer, bad personality and getting old. You'd be mad to pay anything over £4m for him, and i doubt anyone will by the summer, you had your £8m Chelsea chance last season, you let it pass you by, you wont get an offer like that again. Ramos wanted Poulsen, Barca then wanted him and so he'll be going to Barca. I don't think anyone would be surprised by that. Knowing what Levy is like, I think he would be more likely to agree a loan deal for Bent for a season with a view to a permanent transfer. That way the fee gets muddied and it's less obvious whether Levy has taken a hit or not. Having said that, Ramos does like Bent's attitude but Bent would be gone in double quick time if Ramos could get Villa, the one he would really like. Even with Uefa competition guaranteed, getting his signature would be highly unlikely. As for Chimbonda, good footballer? Yes. Bad personality? Yes and a bad attitude to go with it. Getting old? No, he was 29 last week. Whether we get £8m is debateable, but his fee will be more than £4m. Willie Mackay has been quoted as saying 5 teams have enquired about him, I've heard of 2.

"attainable" - Santa Cruz??? Agbonlahor? Carrick?? Bentley??? Are you quite insane? Do you know what potentially means? Do you think we're honestly in a position whereby a display of ambition wouldn't be able to attract players from Blackburn Rovers? We need to aim as high as we can this summer. If we get knocked back with most of our bids then so be it. But I for one would rather we went for the best we could possibly get. Santa Cruz and Samba would both be attainable targets that would slot right into our first XI. Other alternatives to Santa Cruz, Cavenaghi at Bordeaux is showing good form and is a fantastic finisher, tho perhaps better as a number 9. Guerrero from Hamburg is another i have spotted from watching setanta, very strong, excellent in the air and skilful on the ball. I'm not certain that any Blackburn player is attainable if Hughes doesn't want them to be. Last summer Spurs were offering what I thought was silly money for MGP but Hughes said he wouldn't sell and he didn't. I rate Santa Cruz highly but I don't think Hughes would sell him, no matter what. If big money offers were coming in for a few Rovers players (Roque, Bentley, Samba) then I think Hughues would find it extremely difficult not to let one of them go. He turned down nearly £12m for MGP. To be honest, I think Hughes would be wanting more than that for either Santa Cruz or Bentley.
-
I'd imagine he'll want some of his cash back at some point, mind. He could probably sell it for a tidy profit already. When you add together the original cost, the cleared hidden debts and the cost of new players subsequently brought in, I'm not convinced MA could sell for a tidy profit right now. He must have laid out the thick end of £200m now.

precisely. i think its good that we've kept round on as well May not be around much longer if Anal gets it right. Ronnie claims Toffees are sniffing around at taking Round. Maybe Keegan has brought Hughton in as an insurance policy just in case Round does move on?? As I've said before CH is a very good coach but Spurs were very poor defensively and couldn't defend a set play to save their lives. I don't think Hughton is the right person to sort out the defensive frailties tbh. I would be seriously worried for your future if Hans Segers joined you as the goalkeeping coach though!!

Both are potentially very good signings but agree, too early to say. Woodgate is good, but that was well known before and £8m is a good sized wedge for a player with his injury record. I'm glad we paid it but it doesn't make it a best transfer yet. Wouldn't have Muamba there and I would have Elano in before Petrov, although both of them have gone off the boil a bit recently, the Manc derby excepted.
