  1. Agreed. He might be qualified to judge which one was most passionate having played in them, but the inherant bias in his statement makes it hard to tell if it's what he really thinks. Peter Reid played in a Merseyside, Manc and managed in a TW derby, and he said to this day the first two don't even begin to compare, he has no reason to say that now.
  2. It's amazing how many footballers names are stored in each of our heads. I bet most people on here could name 50 players who played in the 80's and 90's from more than 40 clubs. Giuliano Maiorana
  3. Having played in the N.London derby and the Manc derby he's qualified to compare, and clearly he thinks ours pisses on theirs in terms of passion. I watched that Spurs game yesterday, the atmosphere was utter s****. What makes ours different is it's more than football, the rivalry is 500 years old, and is political as much as sporting. I'm pleased they're coming back up to be honest, it's a case of can't live with them, can't live without them, and they should be a big club Sunderland. I can only think of four clubs in England with a bigger true fanbase than them. Do you think the likes of Everton or Spurs would take 10,000 to Barnsley? Would they f***. They really are c***s, but it would be nice to see Newcastle and Sunderland in the top 6. The rivalry with the mackems, is political as much as anything else, 500 years of history, and them c***s moaning that we get the best deal. "We payad for yuuwuh metroaah twenteeh year'agoah, and we oahnly gorrit in 2003." <<< Typical mackem. I think when it becomes an inter city rivalry it becomes more intense. My mate in Manchester claims, Mancunian United fans hate City more than Liverpool I think that's bollocks. I hand on heart think Liverpool - Man Utd is the only one that comes near Newcastle - Sunderland and it's for similar reasons. I think the hatred between Man Utd and Liverpool is perhaps partly because they dominated, but I just think mancs hate scousers full stop. It's turned full circle really in history, Liverpool was for a long, long time Europe's biggest and richest port. It's run down now, but the architecture in parts of Liverpool is testament to it's prosperous Victorian past. Manchester was always the poor relation, and this is reflected by it's more modest Victorian era buildings. Manchester was the biggest factory in the country really, but didn't have the riches Liverpool had. I think the rivalry must've developed from there. After the first World War Liverpool's prominence as a major port went through the floor. I read somewhere between 1920 and 1980 the dippers population almost halfed, and the money of the 19th century never returned, and Merseyside became the most derelict, desolate place on these islands, and further created a siege mentality of "we're on our own", which no other city in this country has. While Victimpool was on the decline, Manchester was very much on the up, today few people can dispute Manchester is the second city of England, some say Birimingham but it's s***, and no c*** goes there for any reason other than football. So there's been economic and social rivalry for years, there's been serious football rivalry at least for 50 years In recent years the footballing rivalry has intensified to new levels, Liverpool fans throwing s*** at Man Utd fans in the ground, rocking Alan Smith's ambulance, Man Utd fans singing about Heysel and Hillsborough, what ever the reasons are I have to disagree that Man Utd v Man City has more hate than Man Utd v Liverpool.
  4. Got sent off in the world cup final. aye but he was the first ever, someone else got sent off too in that game.
  5. Aye scored a header against Blackburn in a 1-0 win. Dalglish was there. I was in the Leazes and I remember the scoreboard said "THAT'S THE MAGIC OF MITCHELL" he was pure pony.

    Players in public

I've seen loads of players in many different locations. My two proudest encounters with players were at Benwell Training Ground and near my house. I got my autograph from Mirandinha and I asked he had a little kick about with us on the grass and I megged him, I was only 10. The same thing happened to me again. Newcastle had been some shit side Brighton it might've been and Billy Askew made his debut, he had a shit game. Anyway we got home about 6pm, playing football on the green beside my house. He used to live in a flat right near me, and my mate goes "there's Billy Askew!", we didn't know he was living there. "You were magic the day Billy!", really arselicking him when he was shite, "Cheeuzz lads" in his mackem/Durham accent. Anyway five minutes later he put the dog in and came doon and had a kick about for half an hour, at the time it felt like Pele was playing on our little green with us, and then I did it again, I'd megged another footballer. What a good bloke he was though, he insisted his whole family were toon fans and it was a dream come true, he didn't even mind when we took the piss out of his accent.
  8. The irony of it all had me staggered. This cunt has been doing exactly what Sibs was for the best part of 7 years, not to mention acting as a second keeper in the box and always getting away with it. He can pipe down as far as I'm concerned.
  9. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABSOLUTELY PISH This is no word of a lie. I would prefer Jamie Carragher commentating than her.
  10. We're going to win 1-0. Players are human beings, we are shit, they're alright, but we'll win 1-0 and we should be happy with that in my opinion. I can't be arsed to expand on that.
  11. Andy Dow Jacob Kjeldberg massive club

  14. I was thinking of Shaun Teale, primarily because Kamara was calling Gary Teale, Shaun Teale during last nights game. "Great ball in by Shaun Teale...etc..."
  15. Who's that bird that was sitting on the settee on about McClaren before?
  16. So it went from being a solid fact that we'd agreed a deal to take Barnes in January, but now they're only rumours, and it's Tottenham anyway who had an agreement. * Jol Talks s**** and Lies Vol. 2524b
  17. I have a clear memory of standing on the Putney Terrace watching a pathetic 3-1 defeat to Fulham, not to mention Don Hutchison running up 5 feet away from me after scoring the first of three West Ham goals in yet another feeble surrender. The two defeats at home to Spurs and Liverpool wouldn't have looked out of place in 88/89. I'm surprised anybody with a clear memory can so easily forget about these debacles, not to mention Southampton. The worst result, other than Man Utd in 02/03 was losing 0-2 at home to Leeds, but we played absolutely brilliantly, one of the biggest injustice scorelines in football history. As for Lippi wanting us to win, aye he sent his players out there "let them win", they hit the bar with five minutes to go, Zalayeta. Besides we were just as good as them in Turin, and I think we could've won, if the linesman hadn't have ridiculously flagged Shearer's header in the top corner up for offside, when he was a good 6 yards on.
  18. I really am struggling to understand where people are getting this "we were better in 01/02 than 02/03". We had some shocking performances at home in 01/02, Tottenham was as bad as it is now, with Bobby playing a pathetic 352 to combat Spurs style?!?! The dippers at home was shite, there were loads of shite games. In 02/03 we were better beyond doubt (fair enough 2 points less than the previous season), and we had a magnificent Champions League run and we didn't have that distraction the season before. Yes there were good games in 01/02. Leeds at home was probably the best performance of the season, Leeds away was good, but that could've went either way. Arsenal we were lucky as fuck, and we all know it, how we weren't 5-0 down at half time is any cunts guess. 02/03 we deservedly beat Juventus, played brilliant at Feyenoord and Inter, beat the European CL Runners Up 3-1 home and away, beat Leeds 3-0 away, absolutely murdered Blackburn, the last five minutes showed how good we could be on the break. Given the fact we played 14 Champions League games, I think 02/03 was a better season, we had fuck all in 01/02 other than the league.
