  1. The Prem Plus games. Not the best games but not the worst either. Plus with Setanta you get live Dutch, german, scottish, italian, french and portuguese games, they even had the conference north playoffs on the other week. They've also got FA Cup games and England games from next season. works out alot better than 90 pound a season just for 40 premiership games on prem plus. I've not heard Setanta have the FA Cup and England games like. How much extra is it for Setanta?
  2. Am I right in thinking: ITV will have 2 FA Cup games live every round and Sky will have 2, with highlights on ITV on a Saturday night? Sky will have approximately 100 live Premiership games, Setanta 50? no Prem+, and highlights on MOTD? (is there more live games next season than this, more Monday night games etc... what slot have Setanta got?) SKY and ITV still have the League Cup and CL? Does anyone know the exact specifics because it will determine whether or not I will get the Setanta in. Whenever I've seen Setanta it's been shite, I remember I stuck it on for Basle v The Toon, and Lillestrom v The Toon, was like a house in Benwell the set and they missed the kick off for Basle, I hope it's improved. I heard a while ago ADRIAN FUCKIN DURHAM, the biggest single nobhead in the media will be their front man for Premiership football. So does anyone know how much, how many games etc.... in advance
  3. load of bollocks tbh. Why would we be interested in Parker. Simply dosent make sense. oh thanks for jenas though. Apparently you just bid for him (and we rejected it), he is a spuds fan btw. They've got no pride, he's already rejected them once.
  4. Staggered really I am. To compare one of the greatest, and certainly most unsung heroes of my time as a toon fan with Parker. Incredible. I don't think he at any stage fell in love with the toon, and let's be honest he came for the money. As for these "utterly awesome" performances in his first season, I must've missed them. He had a good game against Arsenal, he put his heart and soul in to it, won tackles yes he was decent. Can you honestly tell me which games he was utterly awesome though. He was reasonable at the beginning of this season, scoring a few goals running from midfield, which he should be doing the whole time but hasn't been. "CAPTAIN COURAGEOUS STARTS SEASON OFF WITH A BANG" I've played football with defensive midfielders who have consistently made better runs than Parker and still managed to play an anchor man role with ease. Nicky Butt for me over the three years he's been here has produced at least TEN awesome performances, and for me Parker never come near the level of performance Nicky Butt gave on his debut at Boro. Newcastle Online isn't the definitive voice of all Newcastle fans, some here you have to remember are your more knowledgable/passionate toon fan in general, than say your man in the street who reads his Chronicle on a Tuesday night with Northern Life on in the background. It's always appeared to me that Parker bar one or two occasions has almost been above criticism, but because he's Parker the clueless majority have always held him closer to their heart than they have Nicky Butt. The same muppets who pay his wages? Are they not entitled to voice an opinion, when their captain, the heir to Alan Shearer goes hiding against a team no better than Colchester are turning us over at home??? That's what he did, he hid, the guy who is supposed be the inspiration and the example. He didn't like being told, by his employers he wasn't doing what was expected. His reaction? "f*** Off" Imagine Peter Beardsley, Shearer (granted players who the sun shines out their arse as far as the fans are concerned) coming out with that? Imagine Batty coming out with that, and he had some bad games? Imagine it. No I can't neither. Roy Keane c*** that he is, criticised the fans more appropriately by telling them with a big of dignity what he thought. Not Parker "f*** OFF toon fans you don't deserve me". He doesn't deserve us, and he never deserved that captains armband. This bid £6.5m/£8.5m. Whatever it is it's far more than he's worth and I think this could be the fourth massively positive thing that's happened in 4 weeks. Scott Parker isn't the worst player that's ever played for Newcastle, technically he's not bad, he can have spells of four reasonable games in a row, but the role he's been employed to play in he's simply not capable of fulfilling. Thank the lord there will be no more pirouette's at St James' (well if Sam's got any sense). People are saying Joey Barton would be a bad move, him or Kevin Nolan, and argue if you like, are better, more dynamic midfielders than Parker. The only reason Parker has been above them in the England pecking order is, he's been playing for Newcastle and they've been at City and Bolton. £8.5m for a bloke we've NEVER EVER seen striker a ball. I've never seen him kick the ball ever, and you know what I mean, where you kick through the ball and you get the power from your standing foot leaping, people that play will know what I mean. Striking the ball is a basic and fundamental technique all professionals have in their locker, he hasn't. He shoots but you know it's going to be s****, because he genuinely can't strike it, and don't give me his goal at Charlton he sliced that anyway, and he didn't kick through it. All in all the best toon performances over the last two years have been when he's been out of the team, he slows the game down too much, holds on to the ball, and granted doesn't lose it that often, but the results is another man of the match for Parker and another negative result for the toon. Souness always used to say "Parker is great in the dressing room, he's a man in the dressing room.", it's just a shame he often wasn't on the pitch. Bye Parker. you're a f****** joke stevie and you're exactly the sort of fan that is the problem with NUFC I bet you don't even see the irony of both players coming from Charlton tbh, the god Lee, give me strength So what is this all about, Vicky? Do you want to point out the incorrect comment(s) in his post? The kid is a cockney mug, who isn't capable of giving a reasonable counter argument mate.
  5. Why would you want to replace him with that joker? tbh Nolan's a key member of my premiership over-rated list which consists of: kevin Nolan Anton Ferdinand Frank Lampard Jamie Carragher Philipe Senderos Michaele Owen Matt taylor (just makes the list) The players you've just mentioned are all in another league to Jermaine Jenas. I think when he was at Newcastle he was the most oevrrated footballer in Europe. I think now though the vast majority of people understand how absolutely shite he is.

  8. http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ecwc/news/kind=1/newsid=400482.html Villa park according to this, and was 2-1 to Lazio in CWC Marcelino looked brilliant then. That was his last game before he signed for us. ye, was the transfer arranged before that though? cause i seem to remember watching and thinking 'wow, this guy will surely improve our defense' aye it was.

  13. Tottenham H Chelsea A Sunderland H = absolutely perfect, decent start with 6 points and one of the toughest ones out the way.
  14. It's hardly like the difference between the two at Plough Lane where they'd leave the away one smelling of shit, with no bog roll. The home one is slightly bigger, and that's the only difference.
  15. No and that's the reason we're not on the list. Forget about SOS and St Mary's, the biggest joke of the lot is that Hampden Park can hold a CL final and we can't. The interior of SJP is virtually unparalelled in Europe, Juventus even came over to do some research in to how they could implement the design of the Milburn in to their new stadium. It's an absolute disgrace that technicalities such as 500 5* star hotel, and dressing rooms exactly the same szie have cost us the chance of hosting one. I bet within 30 miles including places like Slaley Hall there are near 500 5* rooms anyway, but they all have to be in one city. Liverpool hosted an equally prestigious play off game between Ireland and Holland in 1996, and don't tell me the facilities Merseyside has are better than we have.
  16. Good point, I think it's 1 win in 6. Mind who could forget that 1-4, Andy O'Brien oh dear.
  17. Historically a large proportion of the large wars the world has ever known have started in the summer months. It's a statistical fact you are far more likely to have a fight or be involved in violence during the summer. It's human nature. For that reason, you will never see Liverpool v Man Utd, Newcastle v Sunderland, Millwall v West Ham, Leeds v Cardiff as the opening fixture because it's still at the height of summer. Don't give me that derby game when Bellamy scored in that 1-1 draw, because that was the third game, the above is a fact, and I believe we've never played the SMB on the opening day ever, no doubt some google fiend will tell me otherwise though. I hope we start with Tottenham at home, easy 3-1 win as per usual, or maybe more. I would also like Arsenal, Chelsea, Dip and Manchester United away in the opening 8 weeks.
  18. There was nowt he could do about any of them though, in fact he made a good save from one of them and Cottee gotthe rebound.
  19. Paul Moran when we had him on loan from Spurs. Think we played Leicester at home, and he honestly missed two open goals. Andy Walker had a similar debut in similar circumstances. atentnol paroxitine
  20. To whom it may concern, I share your views on the above. The 1987 George Graham team was s***, but he built solid foundations, and contrary to popular belief one season they had the best goal difference in years, based on a solid foundation, and some really good football (not just long ball to Smith rubbish). Sam will build the same here in my view, which is why I'm not expecting the earth next season. The Tyne Bridge wasn't built in a day, the foundations were laid, and a beautiful span across the Tyne took shape. I expect in five years a metaphorically similar thing to happen at St James'. Yours in expectance, Steve Bsc.Lit
  21. Andy Griffin scored against Juventus, that's much worse. in off buffon mind Still... we battered them that night. remember griffins tackle on di viao(?) more than the goal Aye he nearly put him on Shepherd's lap. Regarding Aaron Hughes, I genuinely don't think he was a bad defender, either at full back or centre half. His problem for me, his main problem was his distribution. Whenever he played behind Nobby and went on the overlap every time I expected a s*** cross, and I was rarely disappointed. Having said that Hughes was a better player for us than ANY of his succesors, and in particular Steven Carr, and I still believe selling him WHEN we did was a mistake. That surprises me, I'd actually say that side of his game has improved of late, and I'd almost go as far as to say he's a pretty decent crosser of the ball nowadays. His crossing was abysmal here. Was like groundhog day watching him cross.

Of course it is because it's such a non-debate and so clear cut. I will admit Spurs have more Talksport presenter fans than us, and they're wanks too.

Being gutted about getting knocked out of the Uefa cup doesn't mean we still don't class it as a nothing competition, the same way as the majority of Spurs fans think the Carling cup is a nothing competition yet were gutted when you got knocked out last season, the fact is with the Uefa cup you have to play about a dozen games before you come up against anyone decent in the knock outs, in our last 3 Uefa cup campaigns I'd guess we've played 30ish games and only lost 3 match, and we've been s**** for the majority of that time, that tells you the standard of the football in that competition. As for Spurs finishing 5th, It doesn't bother me as I don't see you as good enough to catch the top 4, finishing 5th is a good achievement but you're no better than Bolton or Everton IMO, apart from the top 4 there are another 5 or 6 teams who are around the same level. We on the other hand have been awful, I don't think anyone will deny that yet what most of us believe with a good manager we stand a chance of cracking the top 4 again. If this takeover does go through then we'll stand a better chance of cracking the top 4 under Allardyce than you will under Jol IMO, you may not agree with it or the opinion of Spurs as a club but I couldn't really care, if you don't like the opinions of Newcastle fans then don't read the forum. That doesn't really make sense. How could you feel any emotion about something you clearly value so very little? Just think about that one. I reckon that most football fans, never mind Spurs fans, would be happy for them to win the Carling Cup. Man Utd certainly didn't seem too embarassed about enjoying their triumph the season before last. TBH, I think you (Newcastle fans as a whole) would feel the same. I personally think there's still more glory in winning a cup than finishing 4th. Maybe not money, but that's not what football's supposed to be about. It's all about opinions really, although some are very clearly formed by bias. I've no doubt that mine are to an extent, but I'm equally sure that your's are too - both towards Newcastle, and against Spurs. We've finished 5th for two seasons in a row now (one of which we really should have finished 4th), which I'd view as a sign that we're on a higher level than those below us - especially when you consider that we had to play, what, an extra 15 games or so more than the likes of Everton and Bolton this season. Then I think there's a very clear difference in the quality of players at Spurs, and the amount of them we have (again, this may be bias speaking) - the likes of Berbatov, Keane, Defoe, Lennon, Zokora, King, Chimbonda, and even Jenas, would walk into virtually every team below us. I don't think it is as glaringly obvious as you seem to make out, that you suddenly will have a chance of cracking the top 4 under Allardyce. And I'm not sure why Jol is regarded as being an inferior manager - in fact, if you look at his achievements in Holland, he did a very similar job, taking clubs of similar stature to Bolton up a league and eventually challenging for Europe, as well as winning a cup or two along the way - and then turning Spurs, a club who'd finished 14th before he took over, into an established top 5-6 club, leading us to our highest ever finish in the league, qualifying for Europe for the first time in donkeys, building a quality squad that can think about challenging for the top spots, and becoming serious competitors in the cups. Personally, I don't mind your opinions, although I don't particularly like it when you take it as fact that Newcastle are a bigger club than Spurs. I didn't do it before, but very shortly: some players do choose us over you (I know that Malbranque did, while it was reported that Chimbonda and Berbatov too). You have larger attendances simply because your stadium is bigger - I don't think it'll be too long before our stadium issue is resolved and WHL is considerably expanded. Using a site which was posted here only a few days back (http://www.roymorgan.com/news/press-releases/2006/490/), it seems as if we do have a larger fan base than you. Our spending power is not to be laughed at - we were only a place behind you in the last 'rich list' that came out (extremely impressive, considering our decade or so of midtable mediocrity and no lucrative European football to speak of), while our spending over the last 3 years has totalled roughly £80m. And then we outdo you in terms of honours and trophies won, and how recent those successes have been. That's MY view on things though...and I do think it'll take at least a season or two before you even overtake us, let alone break into the top 4. Spurs have already rebuilt and are doing things the right way, from top to bottom. Some more money and a new manager are only a small step in the right direction. Gah, what a waste of time. Far too long. Knew I didn't want to get involved > One of the single most laughable things I've ever read. You state Spurs have a bigger fanbase than Newcastle based on a survey in which the findings reveal: Tottenham Aston Villa ;D West Ham Everton Leicester City ;D ;D Norwich City ;D ;D ;D mackems.gif Middlesbrough ;D ;D mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif Southampton ;D ;D Hearts ;D Wolverhampton Wanderers ;D ;D Sheffield Wednesday ;D ;D ..............have more fans than Sunderland. The survey reveals Middlesbrough have double Sunderland's support. mackems.gif Obviously the above demonstrates what a joke that survey is. I would accept due to the glory hunting nature of the masses across the country Liverpool and Man Utd have a bigger fanbase than us, but anyone else I don't think so. All have bigger fanbases than Sunderland. Sunderland are a bigger club than Tottenham, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I've had this discussion with a few mackems many times, naturally they agree but you are a mickey mouse club, and I fuckin hate yiz. I remember when you brung FOUR HUNDRED up here in 1999. I remember when we nearly got given extra tickets for the FACSF at Old Trafford because you were struggling to sell out on GENERAL SALE. I remember when we beat you 7-1, 6-1 and 4-0 in the space of 6 years. You're a nothing club, never will amount to anything, there's no mystique about the club nothing, and have a s*** fanbase. You come FIFTH and get excited about it "what an achievement". Our manager basically got sacked for coming fifth. I can name eight players now who turned you down for us. I can't honestly believe you have the audacity to believe Tottenham Hotspur are anywhere near the size of Newcastle United, it's truely laughable. You were the sort of team three four years ago where you'd pat you on the head and think good lads, you probably deserve better nearly filling your ground out most weeks, but the arrogance you've gained the last two seasons is beyond belief. We never even used to think about your pathetic club as any sort of rivalry or anything. Truely I believe you will return to your natural level 9-16th very soon, which is where I believe the stature of your club deserves to be. If I sound like a c*** good because 99% of your fans are c***s, with their ridiculous notion that somehow your this massive sporting empire in North London. I repeat you're not as big as Sunderland never mind fuckin us.
