Alan Oliver on Sky Sports 1. Its not all good news
-
Does it really matter, mate? Maybe Roeder did it to give Dyer a boost of confidence or maybe Nobby had it, but thought Dyer should wear it. After all, who better to "smack" the players around on the pitch? I can't be bothered to get into a debate about whether the captain matters or not but I'm pretty sure 80%+ would rather have seen Nobby captain than Dyer, mainly due to the many times Dyer has disgraced the club (and that includes possible fictional stories that are taken as fact such as burning notes etc) I do think though that it's a move to show he's wanted here and that he won't be leaving, and it doesn't matter too much because he's captained us before so it's not totally random.

I would have thought Solano would be the choice. We play him at the back because "He's done it for his country many times" but we don't let him captain us in the absence of the 4 or so ahead of him even though he's captained his country...

Dyer captain. Oh my word.
-
Well the Chronicle said he was struggling with an injury and Radio Newcastle had been "informed" that was the line-up. Milner must have been passed fit some hours ago and the side has just been confirmed. I think.

Milner in Zog out. What the hell is going on!
-
Aye look at ya with your fancy pants alignment and formation
-
Harper, Solano, Taylor, Bramble, Carr, Dyer, Emre, Zoggy, Sibierski, Martins, Owen Pick the bones out of that
-
He's been reading the same article as Jol (our Jol) in the Intertoto thread. Can't complain if true
-
Owen starts, Shola sub - Radio Newcastle

Yorkie was it you, who, within days of registering, announced you had a mate called Greame who told you O'Neill had taken the job? I remember thinking "if this isn't true, this guy will be demoted to Taylor27" To be fair to you, you've redeemed yourself IMO. Sort of.

So my theory still stands that we need to win all 3 of our games, one of which is against Blackburn. I have no problem with Blackburn giving you 3 points
-
Well they also say Butt and Milner are struggling, so I'm not sure what'll happen. Carr's played in defensive midfield before as part of a 5 but probably not in a 4, I expect it'll be Emre/Dyer if Butt is out, with Milner right and Zog left. If Milner's out too then I can only assume Nobby will be pushed on and the back 4 will be switched around, there's far too many if's and but's to guess the team really.

Parker failed a fitness test and didn't travel according to the Chronicle. Millions dead in betting scandal

West Ham must be fancying their chances of getting 3 points on Saturday now. Bugger!

Derby are abysmal, they had 4 players at left back arguing whilst the play went on down the right. A mackem mate of mine was complaining that "it wouldn't feel right going up in second" - considering they weren't even in the playoffs at Christmas they should be grateful to be going up at all. Mind you, I asked the same guy if he thought the current squad could survive in the Prem and he said yes, comfortably. So you can imagine my delight when I asked him if he thought Nosworthy could handle the likes of Henry and Rooney, he simply said "yeah of course" Dillusional -
"Furthermore, if the player's new club is playing in the UEFA Cup, his former club must not have played in the UEFA Cup at any point in the current season" Rocha was cup-tied for you because Benfica went into the UEFA cup

I think Spurs will finish 5th, looking at their run in I expect them to take at least 7 points
-
Only way in now is if Pompey and Reading finish 8th and 9th, us 10th, and Pompey and Reading don't apply.

Barton misses. Oh the irony
