  1. He wasn't culpable for the defeat though. Duff was probably the least of our worries, it's the rusting, octogenarian midfield that we should be panicking about. I agree. Just thought it was a bit much for someone to state he's been brilliant at left back. was our best player today
  2. what i have seen of colo this year, he is no better than OBrian, Dabizas, Bramble
  3. Mourinho would run most of them out of the club within 14 days. He's the one who got shot of Geremi and Duff when he was still winning trophies remember. but Mourinho was lucky he found a club daft enough to take those players off Chelsea. Who would take them off Newcastle now?
  4. If you look back at the history of the league you will find just as many foreign managers that have been failures as they has been successful ones. We need a good manager who can over a number of years build up the team, it really does not matter if he is foreign or not. People may think the better top managers are foreign but we are in no position to attract that kind of manager.
  5. We have already had one foreign manager who decided to drop his best two forwards and play a youngest for a game against our local rivals.
  6. Kinnear only got the job as no one else wanted it.

  8. Shearer gets personal as Newcastle plan escape route against Portsmouth By COLIN YOUNG Gutierrez It's good to talk: Gutierrez (left) insists Shearer has been getting his message across to the players Newcastle boss Alan Shearer has been holding one-on-ones with his under-achieving stars in the latest bid to get them out of the bottom three. Shearer and his players now face a crucial home meeting with Portsmouth and they need three points in the Monday night showdown at St James' Park to stand any chance of survival. Recalled midfielder Jonas Gutierrez, who was handed a key role in a new-look side at Tottenham on Sunday, revealed Shearer has been spending his time geeing up his players ahead of the clash. And the Argentina international admitted Pompey's visit is a must-win game for Newcastle who are now second bottom and four points from safety after the 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane. Gutierrez said: 'The manager tries to work with all the players and tells everyone to be positive and to think that we can do this. 'That is very important for us. We have to believe like this for the next five games until the end of the season. 'The boss is talking to us and wants to make us better players. The team tries its best in every game. We have to think about the next game now, we have to keep the belief. 'We have to believe in ourselves and the team. If we don't then it is impossible for us to do what we need to. On the mend: Barton's recovery is good news for Magpies boss Shearer (right) 'We have three home games and they are very important. We need to win next week against Portsmouth. 'We need all the three points because we are in a very difficult situation and we want to leave this league position behind. 'The final matches for us are going to be very difficult. No team is going to make it easy for us but all we can think about is the next match, nothing else, because we have to win this game.' Shearer is hoping to have Joey Barton in full training by the end of this week and ready for the Portsmouth game. The midfielder stepped up his training yesterday (Monday) aiming to overcome a metatarsal injury. Shearer said: 'Joey did a little bit of training on Monday and we hope he will be fully training by Thursday or Friday and if everything goes well then we might have him available for Portsmouth.' The bad news is that left back Jose Enrique should also have recovered from the knee injury which has ruled him out of the last two games. what bad about our only left back being fit? i do not thing he is a bad player
  9. Ashley needs Shearer to stay on. If we go down Shearer is one of the few people who will be able to keep the club united. If Shearer does not stay on the club will be back were it was pre Sir john Hall days. We will have little or no chance of getting Promotion. If he stays he may keep the club united, he would get the fans backing, also what would be important to Ashley he may get more backing from local business, The club and Ashley need Shearer to stay. Is Shearer a good enough manager to get us back were we want to be. I do not know I only hope he is around long enough to prove it one way or another.
  10. If we do go down as it looks like. Who ever is the manager he will have to use the loan system to its maximum. We should be able to attract some good youngsters from the so called big boys; it will provide them with the experience of playing for a club very much in the spot light, and under pressure to win most games.
  11. Pretty much agree with that statement. it is really going to depend on who is our manager, next season as if he can find the right players to fill in the gaps. a good manager will be able to bring the right players to the club.
  12. Now Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has come out of the closet as a DIY fan. McCarthy told the Express newspaper that he was varnishing his garage at 6am on Saturday ahead of his side's 1-0 win over QPR. That game secured the former Sunderland boss' return to the top filght. McCarthy said: "I get a lot of pleasure out of DIY." :  we know what you mean Mick
  13. All good teams build from the back, our defence still needs some sorting out just as the midfield, and forwards do.

    Financial meltdown?

People say we should be buying more players, not making profits in the transfer window etc. you are missing the fact we could have spent more money, but look at the players we have bought (.Do we really want any more Nolan’s R. Tailors at this club.) That is the standard of player we now can only atrached. The club has been going downhill for a number of years now, players know that, the better players when moving will get the chance to go to more than one club. So we are not as attractive as we were a few seasons ago. Until we can appoint a manager that good players will respect and be happy to play for we will always be in this position. We have not had that type of manager since Sir Bobby, (I think most people thought Keegan would walk at the first sign of trouble) So until the people who own the club can attracted that kind of manger and give him a little bit of backing it is going to be a long hard road back into the top 8 or so of the premiership.
  15. Butt wasn't the worst out there - by far it was Ryan Taylor and Nolan. By a country mile. that what is so sad Butt is way past his sell by date, and he is still not the worst player we have got.
  16. It does not matter who we play in the centre of midfield, no one can pass the ball, no can open up defences, create chances or score goals. The forwards have to make their own chances. No good blaming Owen even at his best he would struggle to score with the crap service he is getting. We lost today against an ordinary. That is what should really worry everyone because any half decent team would have taken something from that game today.
  17. we just do not have the players,is there a midfield as bad as ours in the leauge?
  18. At the end of the day as long as the manager picks who is going to be the director of football, then it may work.

    Some positives

If you look at Stoke’s home form only Man united Chelsea and Everton have won there this season. So It was a good point, it was not a must win game. It does not matter at the moment that we are in the bottom 3 it matters after the last game of the season that we are not in the bottom 3, We must pick up the odd away point and win the our home games, Just like every other team in the bottom half. Our last 3 home games will decide we if stay up or not.
  20. SHOLA AMEOBI FOR HULL Tigers ready with £2milion bid for Newcastle striker SHOLA AMEOBI - wanted By MARTIN HARDY, 11/04/2009 HULL are planning a swoop for Newcastle strike star Shola Ameobi. Tigers boss Phil Brown will move for the 27-year-old in the summer - regardless of whether his side stay in the Premier League. Brown wants a powerful forward with top-flight experience and Ameobi will be available for around £2million. Newcastle bosses are ready to offload Ameobi in the close season - despite awarding him a new three-year contract in January. But Hull face competition from Middlesbrough for the former England Under-21 hitman - providing Gareth Southgate survives as Riverside boss. Ameobi turned down a move to Stoke last year to fight for his place at Newcastle but he is behind Peter Lovenkrands, Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins in the pecking order. And the Nigeria-born ace will need to be convinced a move to either Hull or Boro will benefit his career.
  21. Sam Ameobi hasn't played in the Premier League yet. Has Shola played in the premier league?
  22. He is to weak to slow . Every week he gets caught out with the ball over the top, he does not read the game well and has no pace to recover. Sorry is this guy will never make it in the premiership. Please do not give me the crap about the midfield not been good enough to cover him, it is the same midfield that Bassong and last night Beye play behind, they do not play as badly as this guy. He may well have played well in Spain, but he is crap in England
