Because buying a player is like buying a car in terms of the P&L of a company. The asset is amortised over the life of it - 10 years for furniture, 20 for a building, 5 for a car, and for footballers, they're amortised over the life of their contracts. It'll be clearer in the PDF. There's too much propaganda in the article. I bet it looks pretty good and we made quite a bit of money, which is good.

Podolski's pretty different from van Persie. I can see him lining up on the left of a front three rather than being the target man himself.

When's the pdf version of the account going to be released?

Could be some from West Ham pending on Promotion. Some from Swansea for Routledge. Think we're still owed some Bassong money too. Pretty sure there was something about all the Carroll money being upfront as part of his deal. Conditional clauses like promotion won't be included in the accounts. It's probably just a few clubs which are paying us in installments. Might be a couple of million for Nolan, a couple more for Enrique etc. Eh, they specifically say they don't do this. Yet we're now owed 5m so they obviously do it

Tbf, they play good football today but they just can't score for shit.

Bielsa is great. He's a classic manager. Him with us would be entertaining as hell.

So he's not as fast as he was, yet. Soon. [someone post the picture]

Koscielny is boss.

He owns the club and the loans so really it's just cosmetics. Loans are niftier for legal and tax reasons but for practical purposes, loans from a 100% owner is additional equity put into the business. Any interest on the loan should be considered in the same light as shareholder dividends. Well, not exactly since there's only one shareholder. You're right that all of this is cosmetics. That's the key point.

Something about playing 90 minutes for Chile. I'm guessing he's pissed off that Alexis played 90 minutes for Chile in a friendly and now has aggravated an injury. edit:

Andy's come and gone and the video is still there...

But yeah, re: Ben Arfa, I've said everything that I have to say about him. He's the most technically gifted player this club has seen for 20 years. If we don't make it work with him then the people in charge will have to bear responsibility. Players like him don't grow on trees. There are only three or four players in the world who can do what he does and unbelievably the guy loves it here. Please make it work. If we do, we'll have the best time ever watching a player do things that other brilliant players can only dream of doing.

It's the perfect excuse to ban Ethi.

It'll cover the year of 2011, which includes the Carroll transfer, the Ben Arfa transfer, the Cabaye transfer but it won't include the Cisse transfer. It covers our first season back in the Premiership and the start of this season, so it should see us return to 100m+ in revenue for the first time in a few years. The fact that our attendances ticked up this year will show in the accounts, as will the good number of season tickets that were sold in the promotion period in Nov/December.

If we have made a profit before player trading then it's very good news. I expect our overall profit to be £20m+ when you factor in player trading. It looks like we're being run well. The wage bill must not be very high, the gate receipts must be higher than the past couple of years. If we're making a profit before player trading then we should be able to spend a bit in the summer given that there is still a bit of the Carroll money available.

The one good chance when Ben Arfa fed him on the right, he delivered a pathetic cross that was cut out by the first man.

Our right hand side is a dead zone. -
Sure, but it seems like you've taken out your frustration on NJ Mag, which I think is unfair. Maybe he thinks the Huddersfield fans have overreacted and where the manager is from isn't important at all? I don't see how you can assume that he think they're twats just because they sacked an ex-NUFC player.

Well, they would give an opinion based on our league position, something that would undoubtedly give them the best idea on our quality. This forum veers so quickly from one extreme to another week by week. It's not a bad thing. It's a pretty natural thing because we're in so deep here, but at the same time many people can lose sight of the bigger picture (ie. our league position). The Huddersfield fans could so easily come to regret their decision, in the way that so many fans do after a change caused by a string of bad results. Things change quickly in football. There's a reason why clubs who act to satisfy public pressure are rarely successful.
