  1. Agree. My 'long term' was more 'later on this season' rather than a couple of years down the line.
  2. Assuming no significant transfers (in and out) are made, and assuming Tiote is decent and Ben Arfa shows his quality, I think we go 4-4-1-1 Harper Perch Williamson Colo Enrique Routledge Tiote Barton Jonas Ben Arfa Carroll -------- This is long-term, of course, because I can't imagine Hughton will drop (edit: Nolan) and Smith right away for the Blackpool match. I think Ben Arfa will be used as an impact sub for the first few games, then if Nolan has a poor game away from home, Ben Arfa takes over and hopefully keeps his place. The same with Tiote except I think he takes over Smith's position much quicker because Smith is shite. I also wonder whether Campbell will start when he's fit and if so, who does he start for, Colo or Williamson? I think Campbell's pace would benefit us when we play some of the pacier teams, and I think Gosling, when fit, will also be competing for the RM spot with Routledge, although Routledge's pace is clearly important to us. PS. What a young team. Reminds me of SBR's
  3. Rooting for dyer to do well. What an exciting player he once was for us.
  4. Jonas and routledge were our best players, IMO. Carroll was good to begin with but faded with the team before scoring. Good performance away from home and caused a lot of rpoblems but our wingers were just a bit better than he was. The ref was shocking but he gave us quite a lot of cheap fouls and of course didn't give them the clear pen.
  5. I rhought the reason Carroll got subbed was to prevent him from getting a second yellow. We lost a bit of steam but it was the final ten minutes and our players looked like they had settled for the draw anyway.
  6. Obvious that their plan was to wind up Barton. I thought offensively the game bypasses our central midfield. Our attacks pretty much came from long balls to Carroll or our wingers making runs and creating space, which they both did very well. Maybe when we get tiote on, we'll be able to pass it on the ground out of midfield more often. Having ben arfa's pace and skill should also create more space for our other players. Best week as a supporter in god knows how long.
  7. Deserved point. We were better in the first half but just couldn't score. Got very lucky with their pen shout in the second then scored a goal without really deserving it. Played well to end the match but I thought they defended decently and deserved a point as well. All in all, a positive step. Onwards and upwards. Lets smack Blackpool. Ps. We're playing with a lot of energy which is really nice to see. Our start was the most positive i've seen in a long time, and our equaliser was pretty much down to how mentally strong we are after last season. If we continue to fight, I don't see why we can't push on and maybe get a midtable position. Our team is currently set up very well; our wingers are quick and will cause everyone trouble, carroll is a beast up front and our center mid is starting to show some bite and energy.
  8. Collective defensive failure. We just weren't ready for the cross. Didn't have the offside line set well, didn't have their men marked and too slow to react to the ball.
  9. Farkkkkkkk. Should be 1-0. Nolan holds the ball up, lovely ball theough to Carroll 5 yards from goal and he skies it with his left foot.
  10. Ball after ball beIng crossed into their box. We're all over them. Corner.
  11. I'm watching. We're playing very, very well. Pressing well, holding on to possession well and just about the last ball away from scoring a couple already. Carroll has been immense. Gutierrez has done well and so has routledge. Nolan should have scored.
