  1. Their midfield is strong, they won't concede possession easily and they will be able to exert pressure on us. Up front they lack a true goal threat but they're not a bad team at the moment. We still have more than enough to beat them but it won't be easy.

    What were the possession statistics?
  3. Cabaye didn't do much. He's eminently replaceable in the team. We need someone with more mobility in there because Anita does a fine job of recycling the ball, Sissoko is a powerhouse and our best CM but some more mobility would mean that we could control more of games.
  4. Chelsea have been brilliant, just lacking the goal to show for their complete domination.
  5. There are no words. Seriously.

Even if you take a reasonable estimate of the extra wages that we paid for the six months that those players were here, it only comes to around £6m. Basically there is no way we came close to £30m, even including wages. We're only at £17m including wages so even if you throw in some crazy agent fees, we're still only at £20m. If we didn't get the whole Ba fee, maybe we're at £23m but then you gotta take away the wages we didn't pay Debuchy because we signed him six months later and all in all, we're nowhere near £30m.
  7. Yeah it should have been allowed, agreed. No copyright infringement there.
  8. International football sucks
  9. Just the same way as people here discuss torrents, none are actually hosted or posted on here.
  10. Eh? Newspapers are going broke left, right and centre. If you don't see how this affects the way people consume media and read news then you're nuts. The Washington Post was just sold for $250m, a fraction of its peak value. The Boston Globe was sold for $70m, a full $1bn less than its price 20 years ago. Advertising revenue doesn't cover the decline in traditional revenues. It shouldn't matter who owns it as the effect of this decline is far more damaging to the people who work in it, and also affects the way news is reported. This is not music where artists earn a majority of their money from other sources, anyway, not that it makes downloading music something that is commendable. It's not a good situation when news organisations which should be impartial are all tangled up in shitloads of conflicts of interests because they don't have enough subscribership revenue and have to depend on corporate sponsors instead, the same corporations that they report on. (coincidentally everyone is killing the Chronicle on their reporting on Wonga) If you want good, honest, impartial reporting then you have to pay for it. People bitch and moan when the local journalists don't print stuff because they're afraid to offend the club's hierarchy yet fail to see that leaving news organisations completely beholden to corporate sponsors is by default forcing this status quo on editors and journalists. Anyway, the mods have probably made this decision because posting articles behind a paywall could get this site in trouble, in the same way as posting copyrighted football videos once got this place shut down. I'm sure all the people bitching today would moan even more if this forum was shut down. I'm certain that the moral argument matters less to the mods than any possible legal consequence, but nonetheless they have merit.
  11. I think we have a handshake with his agents already based on this news.
  12. Agger is 30 and quite injury-prone, Skrtel won't be there for long and Toure was a stopgap. Sakho will have time to integrate into the team, hopefully dislodging Toure, then Ilori will be his partner in a year or two. They have clearly planned ahead. They have completely turned over their squad in the past two years, it's brimming with young, talented players now; Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez, Sakho, Mignolet and Henderson are a pretty good core to build around.
  13. It would be copyright infringement.
  14. Well he's our best player by some distance, apologies for appreciating his obvious talents.
  15. When Liverpool comes for him next summer and Ashley sells because he only has a year left on his contract and won't sign a new one, that'll be when I'll genuinely lose all hope.
  16. The saddest thing about the transfer window is that it makes his departure much more likely. Why would he have any reason to sign a new contract? If we signed two good players and pushed for the top six, I believe he would have enough reasons to stay. As it is, he'd be monumentally stupid or crazy to even contemplate staying with Pardew as manager and Kinnear as DoF.
  17. Man Utd have had a terrible window. If Rooney had left too, wow, they would have been fucked. Let's see, I still think they'll struggle without Ferguson marshaling a squad that is clearly weaker than the competition.
  18. Man Utd should have gone for Eriksen, he would have provided them with options. They let a lot of good deals pass by this summer chasing Fabregas and Thiago.
