Milburn is rightly number 1, for all the likes of Beardlsey, Shearer, Supermac, KK, Cole, gazza were brilliant players, Milburn was the star man of a team that won 3 FA cups, for that reason that'll always make him NUFC's greatest player of all time.

Cheers, seems Ranger's form has dropped severely lately even though he's getting opportunities. His goals have dried up since xmas, virtually everything he hit pre xmas hit the back of the net, he's hardly scored in 2009 but while his goals have dried up his all round game, awareness, ability to hold the ball up etc have improved!

Shak, as someone who has seen every single minute of Xisco's NUFC career so far, both at first team and reserve level i would say he's both a terrible player and terrible signing.
-
He done ok, nothing brilliant, he does look like he could have a good future and i would say he is the one to watch, he played wide left which i don't think is his best position. He's the opposite to the likes Danquah who was playing on the right or Baheng who didn't get off the bench, Vukcic plays everything one or 2 touch, always finds space, gets it, plays it and moves, Danquah and Baheng get it and keep it, head down and dribble. I much prefer the style of Vukcic, hopefully next season we may see him push towards the first team, although i think he's still only 16 so may still be early. My dad was saying in the car that he's hoping we will stop up so these kids can continue to develop and come through, the kids he meant were Tavernier, Ferguson, Vukcic, Ranger(had a mare tonight!), Inman.

And pisses me off when tabloids have him on all the "Worst signings of the season" lists... Ultimately he has to be considered a terrible signing though. Nearly 6 million for a guy I'd struggle to pick out from a line-up of somewhat similiar looking guys. There's other circumstances that have effected him, of course, but you can't argue with people calling him a terrible signing at this point. Why can't you argue? How many goals have we seen from our highly paid strike force this season? Not many, and Xisco has barely seen the field despite how s**** they've been. I'm not saying its his fault, and if Shearer thinks he can get something from him and wants to keep hold this summer then I'm all for it. Clearly, he didn't get a fair go under the previous regime and there must be something about him to score goals in La Liga. But when you pay 6 million for a guy and leave him to rot in the reserves, it can't be called anything other than a terrible signing. Can't believe people are arguring he's not a terrible signing, he's got to be up there as one of our worst ever signings. I'd love to know how many of the 40 people who have voted to promote him to the 1st team have seen him play! When everyone is fit he wouldn't even get in our reserve team!!

I'd play same team as started Boro, no need to change a winning team, Oba and Lovenkrands are better as impact subs, would prefer to start with Owen and if its not working throw Oba on to try and change it than the other way round. Only possible change i would think of making would be if Jose is fit, i'd bring him back and push Duff up into midfield in place of the Jonas.

Decent game tonight with a comfortable win, Ashington giving a good account of themselves but 4-0 flattered them with a case of sloppy finishing and NUFC guilty of overplaying and trying to walk the ball into net. Game got off to a flying start when Lualua shot from 25 yards went straight to Xisco about 12 yards out who slipped it past the keeper after 70 seconds. NUmerous missed chances followed before Tozer prodded home from close range from a corner. 8 mins into the 2nd half Xisco scored again from close range after the Ashington keeper failed to hold a powerful Vukcic shot. Xisco was then subbed before the game restarted. Although he scored 2 he was pretty anonymous and showed very little in way of skill, effort or desire to be on the pitch. Newcastle's 4th goal was scored by Donninger who had replaced Lua lua, the latter stages saw NUFC totally over run a worn out Ashington side and firing shots in from all angles, closest was a 25 yarder by Danquah that struck the bar and Ashingtons keeper pulling off some excellent saves, i lost count of the number of corners we had.
-
i'd sell him for whatever we can get unfortunately i think we'd be doing well to get one million quid for him. Yes he scored 2 tonight against Ashington but they were 2 tap ins that he couldn't miss and for the 53 minutes he was on the pitch he was dreadful.

Northumberland Senior Cup final at SJP tonight v Ashington, ko 7pm, £3 to get in. Newcastle have a strong line up playing Krul, tavernier, Ferguson, Donaldson, Tozer, Lough, danquah, Lualua, ranger, Xisco, Vukcic. With the feel good factor in the club after last night i could see a goal feast tonight, could easily see us knocking in at least 6 goals.

Has Beye played that many?? he seems like he's been missing most of the season, in that case he'd get the right back spot. I thought he'd only played about 10 games.

thats even worse than the one we came up with.... those are pretty decent players really, wouldnt mind having them on the field like Harper Collins, Bassong, Coloccini (Ferdinand), Enrique Jonas, Downing, Richardson, Malbranque Jones, Tuncay Dont say thats a bad team? No thats not too bad but again it highlights the lack of right back, Collins is a centre half/left back and on this seasons performances, which is what i was basing the team on you couldn't put Jonas and Downing in, they've one goal between them, i expect a better return from a winger.

its not the team i would have picked, its what we came up to between us at work, 4 toon fans, 3 mackems and a smoggie. The 2 strikers are in as they're the only ones that have scored goals, Butt's in, actually i have no idea why Butt is in, think cos the choice was so bad and Beye's not in the team cos he's been injured and missed most of the season.
-
Its normally around this time of the season that the NE team of the season gets picked, we were talking about this at work yesterday and with all 3 NE teams struggling this season picking a team is really tough this time round. There's not many positions easily filled, for example goalkeeper, NUFC have had Shay and Harper, mainly due to the sale of SHay but both Boro and mackems have swapped there keepers around. I'd go for Shay based on his excellent form before his transfer. Bassong is probably NUFC's player of the season and Collins got the award for the mackems so you could put them 2 players in as the centre backs. Then the problems start, who plays fullbacks? No debate that Beye is the best right back but he's been out all season so he can't be in it, there's no one else from NUFC as he's the only full back. Sunderland started with Chimbonda but he was ditched in Jan and Boro seem to have had problems with RB all season, sold Young, Hoyte was signed but rarely played. Left back also not easy, been sunderlands problem position all season and they signed McCartney but he's been out injured virtually since they bought him, Boro's Taylor is a decent player but again struggled as has Pogatetz when he's played so i would stick Jose Enrique although even he has missed too many games. It doesn't get much easier with the midfield and strikers, all teams have created very little and no midfielders from any of the clubs have scored many either. RM would probably have to go to Malbranque, mainly due to the fact the both the Boro and NUFC haven't got a right sided midfielder!! LM would normally have plenty of options with Duff, N'Zogbia, Downing, Johnson etc but this year they have all been poor, Downing was excellent last season scoring quite a few goals but this year hasn't even managed one, Jonas looked great at the start of the season but hasn't scored and creates very little so as a result of being best of a bad bunch i'd have to go for Richardson. Centre mid is a nightmare, who do you pick from a choice of Butt, Guthrie, Nolan, Leadbitter, Whitehead, Reid, O'Neill, Digard, Bates. i know he's not popular on here but i think i'd have to go with Butt and O'Neill who would probably just edge out Digard has he's played more. Up front i would have to pick the 2 mackems Cisse & Jones. No boro striker would get near the team and our strikers have been equally poor. So this is the NE team of season that we came up with.... GIVEN BARDSLEY COLLINS BASSONG ENRIQUE MALBRANQUE BUTT O'NEILL RICHARDSON CISSE JONES pretty sorry bunch, if thats the best out of 3 teams then its not hard to see how all our teams are at the bottom of the league!!!

The pools panel have just said our result is a home win, can we not just take that result and not bother playing on monday!!!
-
The Longsands aren't playing now on monday, it was going to be too much hassle to sort out to play at HT and the club are now doing some type of presentation for the Falcons at HT.
-
Yes i did, they were asked to play at HT, i'm out on Thursday night with 2 of the band so can confirm whether or not they're doing it. I hope they don't play at half-time, or I'm going home, they're rubbish. I don't think downbeat indie s****'s going to get the crowd whipped into a frenzy. can we not get some kind of ridiculously aggressive band to play to give everybody a total bloodlust?! Bit of metal or something, lets get AC/DC in, they're on tour and the Brian Johnson's a Geordie. Imagine AC/DC at half-time?! What a belta! From speaking to Trevor, the singer, he said the club wanted them to play their version of the Blaydon races at HT. It gets played every week when the team comes out for the 2nd half and the club were planning on selling the CD in the club, i'd imagine its the clubs way of advertising the song before it goes on sale. Not sure how its going to work getting drum kit etc set up on the pitch in the short space of time and how it'll sound thru the crap PA system at SJP.
-
It shouldn't need level 7 to get the atmosphere going but due to the lazy arses in other parts of the ground probably will so need them to start songs that the rest will pick up on and join in with, no discoland rubbish!!

Yes but Villa are away to Boro the weekend we play Fulham, can see Boro getting something if Villa play like that!!
-
can see hull nicking an equaliser here......

i'm worried for tonight, for weeks people have kept saying they'll be a twist or unexpected result and there hasn't been but got a feeling it could happen tonight, hope i'm wrong though, couple of red cards, a few injuries and a heavy defeat would be great!
-
My mate was saying that before the pompey game, saying everyone he speaks to says can't wait for Blackpool away, reckoned we'd take 12-15000, only have 2000 at the match to!! I know lads who now pick and choose their games having given up season tickets who are already talking about it! Knowing our luck it'll end up a midweek game and the weekend on the piss will be thwarted!!

I hope to f*** Leeds don't go up. Living and working here i've never known a bigger bunch of c***s as their fans. Blackpool is a f***ing horrible place n all. All the scum from Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow in one place during the summer months...wicked i know there fans are cunts but i'd prefer games and trips to Leeds or teams like Sheff Wed and Forest than play Wigan, Bolton and Fulham
