we are due to play Villa next on Oct 5th and then Bolton but as the tannoy man said tonight, the next date for your diary is the Man City home game at Whitley park ko 2pm. Don't think there's been an official announcement but then the club don't speak to the fans...

No idea but i'm not happy and my old man is fuming! We've hardly missed a home reserve game for about ten seasons. Playing in the afternoon at Whitley park is bad enough with people at work but there is a hardcore of about 25 old blokes(retired) who never miss the reserve games and have been going for years and i feel sorry for those as well. Nobody knows why the decision has been made, my guess is Biffa will probably find out and it'll be on .com

impressed with that match report from Chelsea, pretty honest round up and not the normal bias that u get on official websites. I really enjoyed the game tonight it was a cracking encounter but we should never have lost the game, we had a free kick on the halfway line and should've either stuck it in the box or down into the corner, instead Dummett hit it 40 yards back and square to Newton at right back, he was closed down, ball went out for a throw and 20 seconds later they are going clean through and Krul is conceding , a pen, i think we owe the ref a huge favour as it was a stone wall red card which would have seen Krul banned for the cup game next week. We started brilliantly, Donaldson scored a really ood goal and for 20 mins played some fantastic football, they then got into the game and although they probably deserved their equaliser them going in at HT with the lead was a bit flattering for them. 2nd half started slowly for NUFC and Chelsea looked good but NUFC were excellent again in the last 25 mins, helped that Vuckic got more involved has he was quiet in the first half when out wide on the right. Thought Kadar was excellent, Edmondson played well and looks much stronger than last season. Ferguson looked lively down the left while Vukcic was brilliant in the last 20 mins when we were on top. Negatives would be i thought Campbell looked dodgy, that was his worst game of the 3 he's played which is worrying when he's pushing for a 1st team recall! I like Connor Newton but he's not a right back and he had his hands full as they were strong down there left, we missed Tav. Last week we had no left hand side players apart from Dummett which meant we were lopsided in midfield and today we had no one to play on the right, Newton (centre mid player) filling in at RB and Vuckic playing wide right which isn't his position either. Cracking crowd of 3700 but sadly for most this will be the last we see of the reserves till March, next game is a 2pm kick at Whitley Park then the next few are at the training ground which fans won't be able to watch.

Whatever way u look at it surely having advertising signs above the NUFC club shop for a sports shop already undercutting the club shop on NUFC merchandise can't be good for the NUFC.

apparently Ashley has the go ahead and the signs are ordered and will probably be in place before the next home game

    James Perch

if i was going to shift the back 4 around it would be Colo i moved to RB, he's played there before and i wouldn't fancy Williamson there one bit.
  8. This seems to have been a problem for a few years. Even at the Villa game there were hoards piling out before the final whistle. Can't say that I blame them. Starting to go to away games this past few seasons has shown me how badly we handle matchdays. Blackburn block off the roads around the stadium and have police directing the traffic, most other cities have designated matchday parking, our response is a 'every man for himself' attitude. The traffic is terrible, the parking is terrible and their is just no organisation. Leaving before the end is your only chance of getting home before 6pm on a Saturday. Jesus christ, i've heard everything now thats whinging for the sake of having a moan, its a city centre stadium, you can't compare it to a ground like Blackburn!!
  9. he's the type of winger we need with our forwards, he's an old fashioned type who just gets to the bye line and crosses the ball, would be great for the likes of Carroll, Shola and Best. Unlike Jonas who can't get a ball into the middle.
  10. I think that's exactly what Hughton will do. Moving Jonas to the right? Ben Arfa didn't stay on the wing much on Saturday like, he just drifted all over the place. aye but thats cos we ended up playing 3 up front with ben arfa in a kind of free role AMEOBI CARROLL LOVEN BEN ARFA that didn't really work, whatever you say about Shola, left wing/forward isn't really his strength!

Lua Lua's goal was an absolute screamer, he also made the 2nd goal as well.
  12. i'd take a point now. The likes of Perch, Routledge, Smith, Barton, Nolan and Jonas need to be giving it 100% in training this week as all should have there arses twitching at the prospect of being dropped as all were off the pace against Blackpool.
  13. i wouldn't change the team, the players who have played the first 3 games have done well and the team is playing well, put the new players on the bench. Hughton can also use the new players as an inspiration for the current players to up their game even more as they now know if they don't perform they will be out of the team. Hopefully this will see us have a comfortable victory followed by another unchanged team at Everton and then unleash the new players on Chelsea along with the other squad players who will be itching to show Hughton that they also deserve to be in the first team. The competition for places can only make the team better.
  14. That's Sholawang. Seriously though, scary stuff. Think where he'd be on that list if he hadn't been injury every other week for the past 10 years as well, he'd be up there with the Shearer's, Milburns, Supermac's, would be around 100 goals....
  15. he's at number 24 in the clubs all time goal scorers list and 12th if you go from post war.
  16. 276 games and 62 goals works out as 1 in every 4.5 games, but then out of those 276 games he's only started 162. coupled with his injury record i think its tricky to judge him on his goals. i'll remember him as one of the most frustrating players i've seen but thank him for his record in derby matches and for putting his career on the line to play for us with a knackered hip when we were down to the bare bones and his goals saved the season.
  17. The spanish still hit the woodwork 3 times as well.

i wouldn't think Fabio will play, think he'll be on the bench and Airey will be up front.

up front i think, he was top scorer in the recent Premier cup.
  23. wrong game Tino put his shirt on the corner flag after scoring against Metz.

No rush, the lads only 15, lets just let him develop normally and see where he is at the end of next season, that will be his big season when he's left school and signed properly you never know if he improves and develops even more this year then in 12 months he may well be likes of Rooney, Bale & Walcott and be around the first team squad nevermind the U18's. I have never seen the lad play mind just going off his reputation. Unless he is ending up just taking the piss at u16 level and is just too good then i wouldn't put him in the U18 squad apart from maybe the youth cup as that is the big competition, at league level i would keep him with his own age group.

the reserves are back in action next Tuesday (7th) when we are at home to Liverpool at Whitley park, free entry(or at least it was last season). Looks like Sol will be playing again and with the likes of Haris and Kadar still on interanational duty i wonder if we'll put the same team out that played the mackems. I'd actually be tempted to give Ben Arfa a 45 minute runout, he says he's fit but he can't be that match fit, don't think the lad has played since he scored against Norway for France and his pre-season games for Marseille were mainly coming off the bench iirc. It wouldn't suprise me if they game got switched to SJP if Campbell and the likes of Lovenkrands are playing
