Doesn't look like there will be any new owners by the time the window opens then, so basically we're not gonna spend anything! crap. Guess that will be owen off in Jan as well, or at least agree to sign for a new club.

Could still be back in the bottom 3 come monday night though Hope this points gives us the little push we need to go for the win against boro. Their confidence will be low after being done by bolton today.
-
I wonder if taylor will walk straight back into the team now?!? An amazing point... never in a millioin years thought we'd get anything from that! But lets not get ahead of ourselves, unless we can be consistent we're gonna stay in the bottom half. The Boro game is massive if we want to build on this.

Yep, getting HT keeping a clean sheet is pretty good going. Its just a shame that we probably won't be able to keep this up for the full 90. Just hope we don't fall apart, as even if we do lose by a couple now think we can still walk out with our head held high.

Dunno why guthrie doesn't take more corners... preseason and start of the season he was doing some really good ones!

Guardian: Shearer clears way to become Newcastle manager

That was my take on it as well, though I couldn't help but get the impression that JK was just making it up as he went along... why on earth just say come in for 2 days a week?!? And to "come learn the trade"? Hinting at the fact that he wouldn't know what to do? hmmm... -
The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Umer replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Have I missed something, but is Riise one of the £10m players he was talking about from the articles this morning.... despite the fact he said he's actually worth £2m?!? There is absolutely no chance of us getting Denilison here. He's been excellent for Arsenal this season, and is well worth his first team place. I think its more likely it will be someone like Miller from WBA. Anyway, got to agree, loans look to be the only way to go for us this window. No player is going to want to move on a permanent with no permanent manger or owner in place. Its just the players contracts that are running out at the end of the year we really face losing now. -
Exactly what i was thinking, that can only be a bad thing to come out in public to say what he has said. Even talking about the player who has been "insulting others" will just lead to speculation (and on that note its meant to be either Van persie or Adebayor!). Can't see how it will do them any good.

Nice try!!! Have to say if Lampard is out that will be a big boost for us... we might keep it down to just 1 goal again this year!!
-
From the sounds of it Zog will start at LB, and he might well start Owen head of Martins in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Would be harsh on Martins, and would probably stop any attacking threat we have (no pace), but might help slow the flow of goals at the other end... still can't see them scoring less 3 against our lot to be honest. We got nothing to lose for this game, no one is expecting anything, so lets just hope we get a battling performance. We need some confidence that we at least gave it a go.

Does anyone know how Jonas was playing? who else would you take off?

time to give zog a chance i think....

For what its worth Given 6 - not much he could do about both goals Beye 6 - Did ok defending wise, should done better with crosses from some of the positions he got himself into Colo 6 - Other than the penalty thought he did really well Cacapa 3 - Awful, just looked out of his depth the whole game. Enrique 5 - gave the ball away loads in the first half, got better in the second. Duff 6 - thought he was our biggest threat Butt 5 - got better in the second half, but didn't have much of an impact Barton 5 - same as butt Jonas 5 - other than one good run and cross he just didn't seem to want to take on his man, a lot like the villa 1st half game, poor for him. Ameobi 6 - did alright, good goal. Martins 5 - just looked like he was trying too hard the whole game, wasn't really a threat at all. Overall, looked like a typical midtable team there. Depressing stuff.
-
This. Unfortunately. I have to say, though, when we equalised even I started to believe we'd win... Same with me. Just typical newcastle really.
-
I can't see how people can complain about the sub. Jonas did one good the run the whole time he was on... that was the worst I've seen him play for us tbh. Duff was having a much better game.
-
A really poor first half today, we didn't show up at all. Yes we got better in the second, but as soon as they scored the second they just put 10 men behind the ball and from that point onwards we were just hoping for a lucky break. Had a chance to really push up the league there and we've lost that, i think thats the biggest dissapointment. And i think it just shows that dreams of europe are a pipe dream until we can consistenly put some good performances (and results) together. Typical newcastle of the past 3 years, as soon as you think we've turned a corner we play sh1t!!! That will be Cacapa's last start for us ever, he just looked so cr@p the whole game... bassong every time now.
-
spurs just gone above us in the table... fook! but that does also mean a win would take us 5pts off 5th.... can still dream for 45 mins right?!?
-
No way, duff has looked our best attacking hope at the moment.... may as well take of jonas
-
its like we have turned up expecting fulham to hand it to us.... grrrrr! lets see how good kinear is!
-
looks like most of our players haven't shown up today. martins looks like someon trying too hard, jonas is pretty awful today... duff and colo probably our best players. what a howler from cacapa too.... next goal will be the all important one.

Fulham vs Newcastle United 9/11/08 Pre-match thread
Umer replied to Taylor Swift's topic in Football
Fulham aren't that bad, I really could see them beating us by the odd goal today without us playing too bad. But having said that, if we really want to be finishing in the top 6/8 then we have to win games like these away from home.... espcially considering the easy points we've already dropped. Lets not forget we haven't won an away game in the league this season. Just praying the villa game wasn't a false dawn, as if we played like that every week we could beat most sides. And because of that, hopefully we'll stay unchanged with Owen coming off the bench if we aren't winning with 20 mins to go. -
Barton and Jonas playing really well, duff not looking too bad either. Not sure about Guthrie, he's giving the ball away loads... wouldn't mind seeing what Geremi coming on for him to see what thats like. And got to say, this is the best I've seen of Ameobi. He's winning loads in the air, and making some good runs! Need a 3rd to make sure though, I think we'l get too nervous if it goes 2-1!
-
Having seen the last 2 games, Collocini is not ready for the premiership yet. Reminds me a lot of Boumsong (not as bad, but errors are costing us). I used to think it was Taylor, but although he is not helping much, its Collo thats the real problem.
-
was against the run of play, we'd been doing alright till then. We need to score before HT if we want to make a game of this.
-
Duff & Zog looking alright down the left, passing got much better in the last 15 mins or so
