  1. Man Utd and Arsenal clear favourites still, but a nice home draw against a lower league team would be nice next round.
  2. Aye, this might hurt a little! I think Houghton will be feeling a right eejat when he sees how strong a team they are fielding!
  3. Looks like chelsea not risking it with the young ones... at least we got some respect!

In recent history (ie 1980 owards) it is 47,350... sunderland vs stoke (1-0) on 9 May 2005.

    RIP sale thread.

This. Was just coming to terms on relegation and it gets worse. Have to pray its a quick sale or we will be truely fu**ed for next season.
  6. When that full time whistle went it was the strangest feeling. I guess despite putting in such a awful 2nd half performance I still thought we'd still get a goal... i'm just lost for words now. This great football club not in the premiership is an absolute disgrace. We can only pray we come straight back on. Lets hope that the likes of Ranger, Carroll, etc can come on and be stars for us.
  7. No Ferdinand for Man Utd, playing Gary Neville at CB.
  8. Brilliant news, I just can't believe it. This is probably the only thing that could save the club from relegation, lets hope the players respond to the fans optimisim now!! The depression the club has sunk into for the past few months can instantly disappear with his arrival. I don't think he will be a Mourinhio, Wenger, etc but he is the best damn thing that could happen to our club at the moment. Is he only until the end of the season so he can get his coaching badges in the summer or has he already done them?
  9. there was less pressure earlier in the season, now we're in the middle of a relegation battle where a couple of wrong decisions could condemn us. er...the first time round, Keegan had quit, Ashley was selling, and the fans were protesting. Meanwhile, the players were shell shocked. I agree with babatunde here... this is a completely different situation to when Keegan left and fingers crossed the players will be a lot more beind Hughton this time. I think having Calderwood there will make a huge difference as well as I think he's actually not done that bad at Northampton or Forest.... and could actually do alright here. I wonder if he'll take a more centre stage... we'll see. However having said that I would have loved us to go for Shearer now as it would have given us a massive boost and hope that Kinnear wouldn't be here next season. I'm sure if we lose to Everton and Bolton they will go for someone else anyway. We just need to get behind the team now and hope we can stay up.
  10. Think that will turn out to be a cracking deal for Pompey if it goes through. Not been given a chance at spurs, but has obvious talent and creative ability.
  11. We got to take our chances soon. Otherwise you just seen Santa Cruz coming off the bench to win it....
  12. We were never going to win it, lets just get people fit and concentrate on the league. If we did have a cup run Kinear would have def stayed on past this season, maybe not now.
  13. Agree. Can't see how we're gonna get anywhere near what we paid for him though.
  14. Why not? Look what the final was last year. One of Everton and Liverpool will be out, it's not impossible for Spurs to knock out Man Utd. f*** knows if Chelsea will even win away at Southend the way they're currently playing. Even if they do, they could draw another big team in the 5th Round. I don't see the point in being so pessimistic when are next 2 ties are very winnable home games. Exactly, we've got to hope we get lucky with ties one year, and there will be plenty of non-prem teams in the draw for the 5th round too.
  15. I agree.Although Redknapp has taken 2 teams to Old Trafford and knocked Manchester United out of the FA Cup. Its a win-win situation. Don't like either team!
  16. Which means one thing. Media to resume their wankfest and laud him as the 8th wonder of the world when he scores the winner against us... ..in the last minute. In front of the Kop. I f***ing hate him. Yep exactly, you just know its going to happen! But at least for once its not us.... sorry Lien!!!
  17. Liverpool play everton on the league on sat 19th, gerrard in court on the 23rd and then play everton again on the 24th in the cup! Consindering we always seem to get premier league teams in the cup, is a great potential draw. But means just one thing.... we're gonna get knocked out in the replay against hull :-(
  18. Good work from Duff on the right... carroll unlucky with header
  19. Carroll and Owen looking good so far, guthrie playing well too
  20. Good work from Owen there to set up that Carroll chance... and he did well enough with the attempt
  21. Happy enough with that line up tbh. Look forward to seeing Carroll upfront with Owen, think it could be a good partnership.
  22. I've been off here for a while, its amazingly gone so negative! We played a depleted team against the top of table side and got spanked (even when we were in the champions league we were getting beat by man utd 6-2 at home, so whats new?), the owner has taken us off the market (well no he hasn't if anyone comes in with an offer he'd sell, so again nothings changed), and Given says he is thinking about leaving (but lets face it I'm sure he's thought that every transfer window). Everything has just been magnified cos of the loss. Considering the utter sh*t we've been through this past year I thought everyone would be used to it by now!!!! Unbelievable how a loss can make it all disaster and panic stations all of a sudden. Bet if we get a couple of wins the mood will change straight back again! Right the match! I'm well looking foward to this, and really hopefull we can pull of a surprise result! Hull are on a horrible run, and even when they did put in a half decent performance against Villa they still lost. If we get the first goal here that would really kill their confidence. I think the best we can field considering our injuries will be: -------------Given------------ Taylor---Colo--Bassong-Zog Jonas---Butt---Guthrie--Duff ----------Owen--Carroll------ Its a one off game, and we can have Colo & Bassong starting in the middle I'll be quite confident that we can at least get a draw... maybe a 0-0 or a 1-1 something like that. But if Owen is up for it I'd expect a win. Geremi really needs to play if Owen is... but I'm sure if Butt is fit enough to start he'll get that place. Was really impressed with Carroll when he came on against Wigan, look forward to seeing what he can do with Owen. I think their main threat will be corners... Turner is imense at winning headers in the opposition box... and we're not the best at defending them! With any luck he'll be rested though. Prediction... 1-1! Then beat them in a replay when we have Martins back (fingers crossed!)
