  1. Harper, Emre, Faye, Enrique and Viduka on the bench.
  2. Fat Mick not exactly a fan of Smith by all accounts.
  3. We could have got Carrick instead of Butt but Wor Freddy offered a derisory sum and he went to Spurs instead.
  4. All those cock-ups against so called weaker teams are really catching up with us now.
  5. Nearly lost it. Seriously worried about the rest of the season now.
  6. He'll probably flop and we'll be stuck with him. I don't understand any of this, tbh. From the start, Allardyce said that Rozehnal was going to be bedded in slowly, and I'm sure Rozehnal knew that, but because we were in the s*** (i.e. Ben Haim didn't come and Faye took his time, etc.) he had to play from the off. However, he's still not up to PL standard, so f*** knows why he's bleating about not getting games. The whole thing's insane to me. We've done well to get that!
  7. Newcastle in for Chimbonda Aston Villa and Newcastle are now making late moves to sign Pascal Chimbonda on loan before the midnight deadline. While Sky Sports are still backing the rumoured move for Chimbonda to Villa, Setanta are now reporting that the full back could be moving to Newcastle. Less than 25 minutes to go and Defoe's deal to Portsmouth also remains in the balance.
  8. Don't understand any of that? I can see Owen becoming even more dispondent with Newcastle if he loses his place in the England squad. Cue transfer request?
  9. Ask Zola if thats the case. I think he means young Italians and he has a point. Zola was in his late 20s when he arrived from Parma.
  10. Nice. Doesn't deserve to be in. He hasnt scored a league goal for ages. Plenty of players in better form than him. Exactly - needs to do it for us first.
  11. A better translation: Álvaro Fury As Levante Hold Up Newcastle Move Álvaro has claimed that he has to leave Levante immediately after the club looked to block his transfer to Newcastle United as they could not agree a compensation package. The Brazilian defender has hit out at the Granota outfit for not allowing him to wrap up a dream move to the Premier League. Having spoken to Newcastle, Álvaro was due in England to undergo a medical and sign for the club and last minute hold-up has upset him. "I am very hurt. Only the club will know the reasons why they have done this," he stated. "My head is no longer with Levante. "I am hurt because I have had the offer to leave since January 21 and I do not understand why they have done this." Álvaro then said that he believes that things will sort themselves out as there is still enough time to push the deal through before the transfer window closes. "I hope that this can be resolved, because if not then there will be big problems," he added. According to Levante, they have not sanctioned the switch as it could not be agreed how much they would have to pay him as he had not asked to leave.
  12. I can see those 'Orrible 'Ammers getting him.
  13. Are we being tight again? Not that I know anything about this player but for having a billionnaire owner we haven't exactly splashed the cash since MA arrived. Maybe I'm being too critical - he paid off most of our debts but if you compare our overall outlay to that of Man City, Spurs etc. it's pretty different.
  14. http://www.levante-emv.com/secciones/noticia.jsp?pRef=3799_11_400566__Deportes-Alvaro-cabeza-estara-Levante From the Levante newspaper - my Spanish is non-existent but after running it through Babelfish this seems likely in my opinion.
  15. Derby reject Newcastle bid for Giles Barnes By Vicki Hodges and agencies Last Updated: 2:04pm GMT 29/01/200 Kevin Keegan was hoping to make the winger his first signing since returning to St James's Park for his second spell in charge. The 19-year-old has previously been linked with a move to West Ham and Tottenham, but Derby manager Paul Jewell has said that Newcastle are the only club to come in for the teenager. "They (Newcastle) did come up with an offer yesterday, a verbal offer, but it was nowhere near our valuation," Jewell said. Barnes has progressed through Derby's youth academy to become one of the club's most valuable assets over the past two seasons. West Ham have long been admirers of the gifted winger but failed in two bids of £2m and £4m for the player last summer. Newcastle are thought to have tabled a £2m bid for the player but had their offer firmly rejected by the Premier League's basement club. Keegan is desperate to add to his thread-bare squad but will have to up his offer if he is to sign the teenager before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night.
  16. We are going to destroy them because of our no. 23: Ameobi can be as good as Adebayor NEWCASTLE striker Shola Ameobi has been told to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor. The 26-year-old Magpies frontman has seen his efforts to plug the gap left by Alan Shearer on his retirement hampered by injury, and found himself largely a forgotten man under former boss Sam Allardyce. But new boss Kevin Keegan was swift to restore him to the starting line-up following his latest return to fitness, and is confident he can make a major impact. Ameobi was not involved in Saturday's 3-0 fourth-round defeat at Arsenal, but could play a part when the sides meet again in the Premier league tonight. Adebayor scored twice at the weekend, and Keegan has ordered his own African-born front man to study the Togo international's game. He said: "If you look at Adebayor, what I would say to Shola Ameobi is what I saw of Adebayor a year and a half ago when he first came on to the scene is what I saw of Ameobi when he first came on to the scene. "That guy has kicked on and Shola has had injuries and other little problems, I guess, but he is 26 now and I don't think it is too late. "Everywhere you go when you see a performance like that, you can say to a player, 'He is a similar size to you. Has he got more ability than you?'. "Well, it would look so at the moment, but truthfully, I think Shola has got a lot of stuff pac kaged there that hasn't quite come out properly yet. "People might say Alan was dominating when he was here - of course he was; so was (Thierry) Henry, but Adebayor has gone straight in and filled his boots. "That's not easy, that's almost as difficult as filling Alan Shearer's here." Newcastle head south with Keegan's last-ditch recruitment drive having so far failed to pay dividends - and the manager admitting he may have to negotiate the remainder of the season with what he already has. He said: "We are set in the summer to add to the squad in a way I think will be really meaningful, as opposed to now where you are taking chances. "If you get one who is an absolute top-notcher, who has played at the highest level, then you might do it. "But at this moment in time, there have not been that many put forward to us who fit that criterion that you can realistically get."
