  1. Is Ronaldinho doing a Michael Jackson? Based on his arms and knees, I'd have to say yes!

Parents can be embarrassing at the best of times - grooming their grown offspring in public, tormenting them with baby photos, and failing to inform them before hosting the monthly gathering of the local swingers association. But few can have ever done quite such a spectacular job as David Nugent's mum Sandra today, nattering on to the national press about how nervous her son was about meeting Wayne Rooney. "It's not because he could be lining up for England on Saturday," explained Sandra to the nice man from the Daily Ooh Aah. "It's the prospect of meeting all the players who he's seen on TV." Still, at least Nugent's humiliation will be fleeting - unlike that felt by Glenn Roeder after he splashes the cash on West Ham waster Anton Ferdinand in the summer. Then again, perhaps it's just good sense - when Newcastle tried buying a promising young English centre-back it turned out to be Titus Bramble, so at least this way round there are no expectations to begin with.

    Dyer guilt

In my calculations, based on the current squad Dyer is the third longest serving player for us after Harper and Given.. Did not include Solano and Srnicek for obvious reasons
  4. I'm starting to feel sick How come? I just got a feeling this might be the ugliest kit in a long, long time.. The socks are fine, but that's pretty much it. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong on friday when we get to see the whole kit, but right now I highly doubt it. I mean, are we serious with this pink square thing?
  5. In less than 20 min we'll see a tiny bit of the shorts! Couldn't be any happier....
  6. His contract expires in the summer, all in favor of handing him a new one? Lets say a two-year deal?
  7. Nah, we've already got a player in the #7 shirt...
  8. For sure, Spurs wouldn't put up with any crazy wages nonsense. You think Jenas took a pay cut then? Spurs have a very strict wage structure and I believe King is the only player earning over £35k a week. Seems a little low that. Would have thought Keane, Berbatov and Defoe would be on around 50+K. Remember Defoe moaning about his wages a couple of years ago. Berbatov is on 35K? I doubt it. Where MJ when you need him? If I'm not mistaken Spurs got a bonus system, so Berbatov could have a basic wage of 35k, but then he'll receive shit loads of money in different bonuses which makes his actual wage a lot higher. Or am I completely mistaken?
  9. Well, since they will reveal a new part every day this week, todays unmasking might be the socks:) I like black socks, so I'm okay with it
  10. something 3 thousand...just heard could be 23 could be 33... Attendance just in - 33,761
  11. Which we all know. Just quite fun that they, basically, see themselves as equals to Barca...
  12. Speaking of Spurs, this is from the guardians rumour mill: "Anyway, at least the Sun's hackery is based on firmer foundations than some of that in Italy, where Corriere dello Sport have been either brave, or ignorant enough to link Steven Gerrard with a move to Juventus or Internazionale on the basis of the following quote: "I won't talk about the future," said Gerrard. "Roma are strong and could eliminate Manchester United from the Champions League." But despite the complete lack of any evidence to suggest Stevie is on the move, we're still giving those transfers more chance of happening than Tottenham landing Arjen Robben. Apparently Spurs are ready to match Barcelona's £16m bid for Robben, which sadly rather implies they see themselves on equal footing with the Spanish champions."
  13. Would someone like to show off their skills in MS Paint?
  14. From nufc.com News that the FA have formally taken over the new Wembley Stadium from the developers means that football matches can at last be played on that site after a seven year gap. And with confirmation coming that the first major event there will be an U21 meeting between England and Italy on March 24th, Newcastle will be represented from the off. With Stuart Pearce having relinquished U21 duties for the moment, current Newcastle assistant manager Nigel Pearson will instead be in charge of England for the game. And England U21 regulars Steven Taylor and James Milner will expect to be part of the squad that faces an Italian side that may well include recent Magpie loanee Giuseppe Rossi. A 60,000 ceiling on capacity for the game will apply, with tickets priced at just £10.
  15. From the Guardian website: Exclusive Jamie Jackson Sunday March 11, 2007 The Observer Frank Lampard and Cristiano Ronaldo have 'no chance' of receiving the massive pay increases they are demanding from Chelsea and Manchester United. That is what they will be told this week by Peter Kenyon and David Gill, the chief executives of their clubs. Given the value of both men to their teams - Lampard was voted the world's second-best player last year and Ronaldo is 'currently the best player in the world', according to Sir Alex Ferguson - the decisions signal a sea change in attitudes to players' wages, which, in some cases, have spiralled to more than £100,000 a week. Article continues A senior executive at one the Premiership's 'big four' clubs told Observer Sport last night: 'There has been no formal discussion between clubs about this, but when speaking generally with other executives I sense there is certainly a feeling of "no more on player wages, otherwise where will they stop?" In negotiations, we now have an element where player representatives point to the new TV deal as if it is more money for the pot to pay player wages. That is not going to happen.' A senior source at Old Trafford said: 'There is currently a big fight going on between Ronaldo and United. He wants around £120,000 a week, but the club will not go above £100,000. He will stay, but there is a lot of trouble ahead.' The Portugal winger is thought to be on £60,000 a week in a deal that ends in 2010. Lampard will also be frustrated in his demands. 'He has no chance of getting what he wants,' an insider claimed. 'He will not be offered more than £100,000. That's final. He will have to take what Chelsea offer, end of story.' It is further evidence of Roman Abramovich's new stance over Chelsea's finances. After sanctioning the £130,000...#8209;a-week wages for summer signings Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack, the billionaire owner refused to pay inflated fees in the January transfer window and, with negotiations with John Terry also having stalled, is taking a hard line over players' salaries. Lampard signed a five-year deal in 2004, but under European Union employment law he can buy himself out of the contract from May. Steve Kutner, Lampard's agent, described the Chelsea insider's statements as 'preposterous'. 'We haven't been made an offer yet,' said Kutner. 'But £100,000 is absolutely ridiculous because Frank is on way more than that already. I've had discussions with Peter [Kenyon] and we know where we want to go. Chelsea want Frank to stay for the next five years and so do we. I certainly haven't given the club any parameters - we are waiting.' Lampard, 28, is thought to earn closer to £80,000 a week rather than the £100,000-plus claimed by Kutner. And it is unlikely that he or Ronaldo will be able to attract higher wages in Europe. Barcelona have never been extravagant payers and Real Madrid's galactico days are behind them. They are the only two clubs that could feasibly top the wages paid in England. There has been speculation that Lampard is heading for Barca in the summer. His wife is from the region and the Catalan club were thought to be interested. But a Barcelona executive confirmed to Observer Sport that they will not target the midfielder. 'The club is not interested in Lampard, no way,' he said. Good news IMO. Have to stop this ridiculous wages that some players are on... Just one really worrying part, and that is the other top clubs around Europe. If they are willing to offer players more than 100k, definitely some players will move from the premiership, and this may lead to a fall in quality... By the way, isn't Michael Owen earning more than a 100k?

  18. It's going to be a long season for him. Started in the autumn of 2005 with Barca. When the spanish season was over he moved home to Helsingborg and he played until just recently when the swedish premier division was finished. After that there has been a couple of matches in "Royal league" (Top four teams in Sweden, Denmark and Norway). Now ten weeks with Manchester United and then a new whole season with Helsingborg which ends in October/November 2007..
  19. From the BBC gossip column: Tottenham are ready to bid £2.5m for 17-year-old French midfielder Adel Taarabt, who has just broken into the Lens first team. (Daily Star)
  20. Yep... From the Chelsea site: Date of Birth: 10/03/1985 Height: 5' 8" (173cm) Weight: 10st 10lbs (68.0kg) Spotted by former Chelsea scout Gwyn Williams playing in an Under 20 international tournament, Lassana was offered a Chelsea trial and impressed sufficiently to become the quiet £1 million addition to the squad in the summer of 2005. The Paris-born 20 year-old was signed from French second division club Le Havre where he had been named their Young Player of the Year in 2004.
