  1. We'll probably bring Ronny Johnsen back or perhaps force Tony Adams out of retirement
  2. Well, we've got a £9.5m striker who barely makes the reserves so why not?
  3. Completely hideous...Why can't they keep the sponsor logo within the black stripes?
  4. Anyone bought it yet? If so, would that person be kind enough to upload some pictures so we all know how it really looks like:)
  5. Jesus Christ. Only two trophies, 2nd in the league, Champions League semi-finalists - what a shite season! Yup, he'll be chucking himself off a bridge alright. Resign, sacked whatever you want to call it but I for one wouldn't be surprised if there's a new manager in charge for next season.. You might want to call me a drama queen
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Mourinho resigns after this season. Just winning the carling cup isn't good enough. Chelsea might still win the FA cup but losing out on the premiership and CL is just too much IMO
  7. They can change it when they like. Boro change theirs every year. Boro play music when they score so that doesn't say much... I've always thought you could change the away strip as often as you like while you're only allowed to change the home strip once every two years
  8. Speaking of Spurs, how is it that they're allowed to change their kits for next season? The next kit is just for 2007/2008 season and it has something to do with their 125th anniversary, but they changed their kit for this season and if I'm not mistaken they changed it for the previous one too!
  9. Today's the first of May, not first of April!
  10. The guy behind Owen, the one who looks like he's running for winning mr. universe, who's he? Gettyimages says John Huntley, but that doesn't say very much..
  11. Go on and laugh, especially at pic three. Jenas will have to adopt his children http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/71832392.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=6A444C4A30AE46D557E02FBE05417492 http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/56606650.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=46BA8FD688DB447342032279D3CF6839 http://cache.gettyimages.com/xc/3266832.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF19390335F8FA9CA92A6FCECEC762EEAE233E30A760B0D811297
  12. I think Pearson done fairly well. The defence looks more organised now than before, but that's not really much of an achievement. The problem is that we're clueless when we have the ball in possession. With both Roeder and Pearson as former CBs, it's not a big surprise.. Perhaps we should consider hiring a former striker *cough* Shearer *cough* to organise our attack. Tell them how to run and that the ball goes behind the keeper and such things.. The best solution is of course getting rid of Roeder & Co but that's just wishful dreaming at this point
  13. They do change their mind quite quickly at the Sun. Yesterday it was £2m, but I recall reading £500k somewhere aswell...
  14. Buy each player a treadmill as a "thank-you-for-this-season gift" Freddy should even consider buying one himself....
  15. That's what makes the situation so beautiful ... FREDDY MUST ACT NOW! NO DILLY DALLYING! The only problem is of course that we will might to pay compensation as it will now look very suspicious if we hire him too soon. £500k or what was it Bolton wanted?
  16. Just imagine waking up tomorrow morning, one day short of the 15th month anniversary (yes, it's an anniversary) of sacking Souness, reading the following statement from Shepherd: "Newcastle United today announced that the employment of Glenn Roeder has been terminated with immediate effect."
  17. Well, we didn't really deserve to lose, but we didn't deserve to win either. 0-0 would have been the most fair IMO. Dyer to blame for the Reading goal, and Dyer to blame not to score in the 93rd minute or so! Why Roeder insisted on playing Owen for the full 90 minutes no-one will ever know. Complete madness and very, very risky! Last 20 he was basically invisible, but who can blame him after being absent for 10 months. We saw some glimpses of what he is capable of in the first half and if he's here next season we will score 15+ with ease! (Am I being to optimistic?) Bramble was back as his evil twin, Shambles. We can only be thankful for the way Taylor matured this season, 'cause if this game would have been played a year ago with this back four, well, I don't even want to think about it. Finally, I wonder what Shepherd is thinking right now. His favourite is available, but since he turned us down before, maybe Shepherd's pride say no to ask him again. One positive thing about the Blackburn game is that the new kit will be used...
  18. Watching the highlights now and I forgot our free kick! A little bit like Sweden's during WC -94 if anyone recalls that one. Only difference, Sweden scored, we didn't!
  19. First 20 min was very lively but after that it's been a pretty boring game actually. So far, Taylor has been solid while Bramble been dodgy a couple of times.. I have a hard time believing Titus play chess since he never knows what to do with the ball when he gets it. Sibbers, well, his french companion should play in his place. Just hope Glenn realises that sooner rather than later. Isn't Freddy sitting right behind Martin O'Neill and Terry Venables? I don't they're chitchatting about Owen's England return during this half time break to be honest
  20. Reading (4-4-2): Hahnemann; De La Cruz, Shorey, Duberry, Ingimarsson ©; Gunnarsson, Oster, Seol, Hunt; Doyle, Kitson Subs: Federici, Halford, Bikey, Harper, Lon No Sidwell or Harper
  21. 26-year old Afonso Alves enjoyed a good first season at Heerenveen Apps Goals Eredivisie 31 34 UEFA Cup 6 3 KNVB-beker 1 0 Total 38 37 2 Two yellow cards in the UEFA cup, none in the league. Think he scored around 12 goals more than Klaas Jan Huntelaar in the league... Rumours has it Chelsea been scouting him. If I'm not completely mistaken, Heerenveen paid just over £3m for him a year ago. Whilst playing for Örgryte and Malmö in Sweden, he always looked like a class act. That said, people in Sweden rated Tobias Hysén, who currently plays for the mackems, as one of the top players in the Swedish domestic league before joining Keane & Co. Hysén (Yes, son of former L'pool player Glenn) is a player who would struggle to get past Bramble... Anyhow, what do you reckon about Alves? Would he make it in the premiership. Not exactly a gamble we could afford, but it's not impossible he ends up in England. Scored more goals than Ronaldo did in his first season in the Netherlands. RvN flipped, Kezman flopped. Alves would?
  22. This is from todays sun: SAM ALLARDYCE quit Bolton because the board would not give him the cash to challenge the elite. Allardyce resigned yesterday — just as we said he would in Saturday’s Sun. Big Sam believed he could pull off the impossible and get Bolton into the Champions League next season. But Wanderers chiefs refused to back him in the transfer market — despite a £50million windfall from the new TV deal. Allardyce said: “It was mutually decided that I step down now rather than at the end of the season. “I want to give my successor the opportunity to experience the preparation and build-up of matchday in readiness for next season. “The decision to leave the football club, which has been my spiritual home for over 18 years as both player and manager, is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my life. “However, after guiding the team into a position where the club is on the verge of qualification for European football for the second time in three years, I feel it is the right moment to step down from my duties. “I am moving on with my life content with a legacy that I tried to create for this special club.” Allardyce has been linked with Manchester City but he would have stayed at the Reebok if Bolton had backed him in the transfer market. Chairman Phil Gartside wants £2million compensation if Allardyce goes to Eastlands. Gartside believes Big Sam has been tapped up by the Ray Ranson consortium hoping to take over at City. But Allardyce believes his hand was forced by the lack of ambition at the Reebok. The team which came away from Chelsea with a 2-2 draw featured three players who earn less than £5,000 a week. Allardyce reckoned the board was taking such miracles for granted. And he is happy to take six months out of the game to recharge his batteries Gartside said: “Since joining the club as manager in October 1999, he has helped lead a fantastic transformation. “He has helped design and build an infrastructure that will enable the club to continue the progress that we have undoubtedly made in his period of office. “He has given his reasons for wanting to leave the club at this time, which are private and we respect that privacy. “I would like to wish Sam and his family every success in the future.” Bolton striker Kevin Davies insisted Allardyce had not mentioned anything before Saturday’s game with Chelsea about his decision to quit. But Big Sam failed to attend the post-match Press conference. Davies said: “He’s a top-class manager and he obviously just decided it was time to try something different. “It’s a big shock and we’re going to miss him. “I would be a little bit disappointed if he goes to a club beneath us but it’s his decision.”
  23. Drogba has come on for Shevchenko by the way
  24. 32:53 GOAL - Salomon Kalou Chelsea 2 - Bolton 1 Correction - 32:53 GOAL - Jussi Jaaskelainen Chelsea 2 - Bolton 1
