  1. Pope stamping his mark on the action already
  2. What the fuck happened to Pope?? Didn't he used to be a decent keeper?
  3. This interview on Sky is brilliant. He's such a great talker and you can see how calm he is and how much sense he makes.
  4. Said it in the match thread but absolutely spot fucking on from Eddie. He's just perfect for us. I get annoyed with a few of his decisions here and there but he fucking showed me and everyone else again just how good he is. Players love playing for him and improve under him, he understands our club and his even-keeled nature helps so much when we can get a little manic as a club and a fanbase. I love the man.
  5. What a fucking performance over the two legs. Absolutely awesome. Howe got it fucking spot fucking on.
  6. Amazing highlight reel of his time here
  7. I think that's fair but it's a distinction without a difference. We're only capable of truly improving our squad by signing players of a pretty high level, and they're always going to be unavailable or too expensive for our lack of "headroom" in January imo.
  8. Feels like a lot of people are just living in a state of denial about how the PSR situation is unfolding. It's definitely frustrating and it's completely anti-competitive but the irritation has to remain with the Premier League for this asinine set of rules designed to keep the top teams at the top. Throw all the vitriol their way, they deserve all of it. The truth is that there doesn't really exist a viable incoming transfer that can be done within our severely restricted set of circumstances. I can only assume Howe will have known all of that and will have to accept it in the short term. If not, there is a bigger communication issue than we know. The only way forward is to continue making incremental progress in squad building until we are able to have a major increase in revenues - new stadium, perhaps - or until there are needed changes in PSR. I hope it's the latter but it's probably going to be the former. We can complain all we want but the reality is what it is.
  9. Phenomenal bit of business by itself but within the larger context of keeping a level of competitive squad depth it's concerning. I suppose you have to do a deal like this if it presents itself. Feels like we're missing a few chapters of the book though. Hope we start to see them soon. As of now it's all a bit irritating to see outgoings and no incomings.
  10. Just seemed like the nicest guy in the world. Sweetheart of a fella. Respected his effort and his commitment a great deal and he had some very very special moments. If we have grown past the need for him as a club, it's in part because of the work he put in. Gracias y vaya con dios Miggy.
  11. Whatever any of our strikers in the past have done, Isak could have done as well or better. That’s not meant to disrespect any of them. If you replace any of our previous forwards with Isak, our record either stays the same or improves imo. He is the best.
  12. Played a first time ball deep in our half when we were under pressure that was world class. Ball came to him so quickly and he just tapped it out wide while surrounded by three players like it was nothing. He's so good man
  13. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-sandro-tonali-redemption-inside-story-3481132?ito=link_share_article-top The whole piece is worth reading. Very very good. He's such a big reason for our recent success and we've not had a player of his qualities in a very long time.
  14. We are fucking GOOD. What a performance. So proud.
  15. We've really been very comfortable in spite of the fact that Gordon, Joelinton, Willock, and Burn have all been somewhat or very below their best. And without Bruno. That's impressive. Of course Isak has been incredible but Lewis Hall has been great and Livramento not far behind. Tonali setting the tone as he does so well. We really have improved so much as a team.
  16. Isak is just mesmerizing tonight. Best overall forward in the world at the moment. Doing everything and doing it with such confidence and ease.
  17. My favorite kind of player and one we haven't had in a long time. Finally able to play the role he is suited for. He is the type of player the very best sides have, always available to receive a pass, always ready to distribute and continue a move. Scans the field constantly, always seems to know exactly where to go with the ball. Makes intelligent late runs and is absolutely going to get goals - obviously should have had one yesterday. He is instrumental in allowing everyone ahead of him to express themselves. His emergence is crucial to our current form. Love him.
  18. That was incredible in its own way. 20-30 years ago, imagine thinking that's how a match at Old Trafford would go. It was always scary as fuck going there. Tonight we decided to put in 30 amazing minutes and then just fuck right off and put it in cruise control - and that absolute rabble in red couldn't even put up a decent fight. We were in complete control more or less from start to finish, maybe save 5-10 minutes. We are looking smooth and tidy. Very expressive. Tonali is such a great player to have to maintain match control. His emergence has opened the door for all of this imo. And Manchester United...they looked like the worst team in the division. They aren't far off.
  19. Loved him (as you can see)

Here's the thing. All of your discussion is proving my point - the original meaning of the armband is being twisted for people's religious purposes. There's really not much room for interpretation seeing as how the message was clearly outlined from the start of the campaign. This is the message that the armband was designed to convey, straight from the people who started it: Wearing it shows that your club is a safe place where everyone can be themselves and that you actively support LGBTQ+ inclusion. It's not an endorsement of homosexuality. It's not a value judgement on lifestyles different than the societal norm. It's simply a way to outwardly say, "Hey, if you're gay, we're fine with you playing alongside us. We're fine with being your teammate." That's all. And if people can't do that, it says a lot about them.

The difference here is that none of our fans - to my knowledge - are claiming some sort of religious exemption to avoid supporting the team or regime or whatever. Bringing the religious aspect into this is where I am struggling. You are right that we are all hypocrites to a degree, though.

This is a strange response. It's a pretty simple thing. Captains being asked to wear the armband to show support for LGBTQ athletes. Why would you not want to?

Yes. It works both ways. I am offended that Guehi is doing this, yes. And that says a lot about me. You and others are offended that he is being asked to wear it. And that says a lot about you.

You wouldn't support gay athletes being allowed to play without being bullied?
