  1. Trailing of the leg too.. He just keeps his leg straight and jumps forward. Has been doing it for years. Hated him when he was at @j@x. Just imagine this count playing for your fiercest rivals..
  2. Suarez should be suspended for pulling that s*** repeatedly.. Seriously... Not often I wish malice on a player, but wouldn't mind this cunt having a career ending injury..
  3. Reina's distribution is worse than Krul's..
  4. Liverpool play more long balls than we do..
  5. Colo option for additional year? (He said 5 years)...
  6. Can't believe myself, but I'm actually looking for a river to be able to watch SSN from outside the UK..
  7. Holy smoke! That would be excellent news! Expect the new and improved deal to be Guthrie though..
  8. Manager of the month. WTF?
  9. Care to point to some examples where he hasn't worked hard for the team? Wasn't really the point - more pointing out that it is perfectly acceptable to expect talent and industry. The point is that it's perhaps a bit of a myth that HBA is lazy. Also you don't get many players with the flair of Beardsley that will chase down every ball like a total lunatic. For example Bergkamp was clearly a pretty impeccable professional but you could be forgiven for thinking he was a bit aloof at times. Suppose I'm saying it's not black and white, just because he doesn't work as hard as Beardsley doesn't mean he doesn't put the work in that you'd expect of a flair player. I agree that stereotypical flair player doesn't chase down every ball. But chasing down every ball is something that can be taught/encouraged without a marked downturn in that flair player's effectiveness. But it is difficult to teach a hard worker to become more talented. FWIW - I want Ben Arfa to play. I see you've fully bought into Pardew's nonsense about Ben Arfa's lack of work rate.. Well done. I prefer to use my own eyes to make such a judgement on a player.
  10. Currently here nor there for both. I have severe reservations about Mike Ashley's future plans/level of ambition and about Pardew's tactical nous and ability to handle flair players, but our current results both on and off the pitch are fairly promising. Need to see if we can maintain this level and even build on it in the next few seasons before I will feel confident about both the ownership and the first team management.

    Alan Pardew

I appreciate he comes out with this nonsense in response to journo questions, but what he is in control of what he actually says surely? He could also say "we are an attractive club at the moment that is on the up, and we are confident we can keep our best players as well as add to them" and "we have been fairly solid this season and at times played good football. In recent weeks we have not been as solid as earlier in the season and have resorted to playing the long ball too much. We are working hard to resolve this." Edit: could also add "When a bid comes in for players who we ideally would want to keep at the club that is too good to refuse we will have to consider it, just like any other club would. However, we are keeping an eye on interesting players all the time to make sure we are able to adequately replace any outgoing players.

    Alan Pardew

Great set of quotes there from Pardew. We're set to lose our best players because we can't compete with the big clubs in terms of wages, but not to despair, our fantastic brand of fast flowing football where we are in complete control on the pitch will pull us through...

Aye, what's the difference between a result that happened nearly a century ago before we were all born and one that happened last season..?
