On the evidence of the last three games away against top class opposition I’d respectfully disagree. Over the three games we had 30 attempts, some very good chances. Isak in last year’s form would have filled his boots, let alone the two you mention who on top of being clinical finishers are capable of creating their own chances out of pretty much nothing.

Fair enough. He’s performing below his own average level, clearly. The injury away on international duty didn’t help, but by now you’d expect a player of his experience to have found his feet. We paid a premium for PL proven readiness and we’re not reaping the rewards, obviously.

About half of those were in his last season and before that he was a one in four striker having played in France league 1 and even 2, hitting those numbers until his mid twenties, so yes, I am inclined to say we bought him on the back of a flash in the pan. It was mainly Mbeumo catching the eye for Brentford last season and I think some of Wissa’s rise in numbers was due to being partnered with an outstanding player last two seasons.

We have. We bought him at peak value after an extraordinary season. Should never have gone for him, especially at that price. We have completely mishandled the Wilson situation. Should have had an understudy in much earlier, ready to take over that sub role a year before he finally left on a free.

Bang on. This team with (a motivated) Isak and a Wilson replacement instead of Woltemade and Wissa and we’d look a damn side better. Basically Isak downing tools completely screwed our season.
