  1. The two things are fine. You can question a player's potential quality and question why the club that presumably believes in his quality isn't willing to pay the asking price. Maybe they believe he is a 15m player not the 20m asked by Feyenoord? Like they did before with Aubameyang and Lacazette. They are undoubtedly masters of player valuation even ignoring the cost of another likely relegation due to our Championship squad.
  2. They will blame it for another transfer window “failure” regardless
  3. We must be near the top of the Premier League bidding table like
  4. I hate the phrase “must win” for a game in January, but a good result here could be absolutely vital.
  5. Good luck with that. Feyenoord have him on a 3.5 year deal and the World Cup is coming up. Why would they sell him on the cheap now with little to no time to secure a replacement because NUFC are pretending they will go for someone else if they don’t cave in? They’ve got us by the balls and the know it. If the deal falls through it will in all likeliness hurt us far more than it will hurt them. They already have a replacement in van Persie? Van Persie has been brought in as Kuyt’s replacement - the role of experienced talisman. He has barely played in the last two years and there are huge question marks about his current ability and fitness. They’re also letting go of another forward (Kramer) and only have an unproven 18 year old (Vente) beyond that. No way was Van Persie brought in to replace their star striker with practically no cover.

  7. Van Bronckhorst: Source: https://www.nu.nl/voetbal/5105336/van-bronckhorst-stelt-jorgensen-gewoon-ondanks-transfergeruchten.html
  8. That’s from a very reliable source, so almost certainly true. Shame he doesn’t say what the second bid was.
  9. Loan with option to buy apparently. If he can still cut the mustard we should be all over that.
  10. ? Over the past two decades they’ve barely had a pot to piss in. Lately the situation has been improving (winning the title and qualifying for CL will have helped), but they are planning the construction of a new stadium and this year it looks like they may miss out on European football altogether so I would say they’re still not in a stable situation financially.
  11. Suarez, Van Persie, Van Nistlerooy, Kuyt and many more. I think it's just more of a lottery than normal really. I think if you watch them as players rather than their league, you'll probably get a better idea. I think the only player who looked brilliant before arriving and then wasn't, was probably Kezman. Vincent Janssen. AZ. App: 34. Goals 27 Spurs. App: 27. Goals 2. Theres many. I think striker wise. Van Nistelrooy and Suarez are the exception. To carry 20 plus goals over into the EPL. It just worries me that league, equally scotland would if we got Dembele. I think the situation we are in and unable to sign proven, presents a risk, a gamble. Just dont be dismissive of that. I wouldn't be the kind of dick to say I told you so, I font know the player, but it still worries me. The drop is now ony 3pts. Is he our saviour? Equally there is no need to be so dismissive of the Eredivisie even though Dutch football is going through a very rough patch. It is my contention more world class forwards have spent their formative years in Dutch academies or learnt their trade in this league than in English ones in recent decades. I’ll simply say: Romario, Van Basten, Gullit, Ronaldo, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooij, Kluivert, Mackaaij, Van Persie, Robben, Ibrahimovic, Suarez and that’s me probably forgetting a few good ones too. No need to go on like we’re some football backwater. Well we are at the moment, but plenty of players have been developed here, and plenty more will follow.
  12. I have and I think he can be a success here, but he could also be a flop. For us to get in a striker who will be a guaranteed success we’ll need to spend a multitude of the 20m said to be available, and even then it could end up in failure (and probably would considering this is NUFC we’re talking about).
  13. Oh, plenty more have (Alves, Ruiz, etc), but many more players than the ones you mentioned from Eredivisie have also looked brilliant in the PL (Robben, Hasselbaink, VdV, Bergkamp, etc.) It’s just a strange notion that transfers from Eredivisie clubs are somehow different from any other player transfer from one club to another. Plenty of players have moved clubs within England and even the PL and failed. It’s almost like getting a new player in is always a bit of a risk.
  14. Anyway, yous can all rest assured, because we’re not getting him or anyone in his price bracket
  15. Absolute rubbish that bit. Feyenoord are quoting 20m because they stand to lose their best player who will be irreplaceable, especially mid season. People go on like this is some sort of massive fee because it’s above our transfer record, but it’s easily the going rate for a top forward in a minor league. Some players in the Eredivisie would cost you twice as much.
  16. What is the formula for converting this into goals in the PL? 45 in 39 in Eredivisie. Went to Boro and was s****. The formula is to be Luis Suarez Said this before, but Afonso Alves was spectacularly good and supremely talented that year for Heerenveen. Obviously lost all interest in being a football player once he’d won a few Brazil caps and his big money move.
  17. I’ll be honest, but if we’re lowballing this ai expect us to lose out unless the player forces Feyenoord’s hand. For the money we’re offering they’re probably better off seeing how he does during the World Cup considering he’s tied down for the next three and a half years anyway. They’ll be in no rush to sell their best player on the cheap you would imagine.
  18. One thing I will say is he’s quite good technically for a big man. Not the quickest obviously, but quite strong. He’s definitely better than LdJ, but that’s not really saying much.
