  1. It just goes to show how much transfer fees have gone up over the whole range, which is a huge problem considering Mike Ashley's NUFC calculator does not appear to have more than 7 digit spaces on it, unless it pertains to outgoing fees.

They just need him to mirror-vote Charnley on any executive decision and it's job done.
  3. Wat Edit: meant for Elmo but equally applicable for Dostmund rumour
  4. Getting all worked up about next season's fixture list mid June but mellow as fuck when it comes to our transfer dealings when we need more than half a new first team
  5. If Cabaye and Remy go there and we stick with the likes of Colback and Riviere
  6. Why the long face KaKa? Cheer up mate, it's just baseless rumours and it's not like we have been here before Big Mike has promised spending above our weight and a push for trophies and/or CL qualification. If When we will be sitting here empty handed in September you can kick up a fuss, not now. Keep the faith. I'm calm. Looks like we will be getting in super stud Bas Dost instead! It will be fun watching you implode when Bas Dost will be strutting around the St. James' Park pitch being nowhere near good enough

  8. I assume your positivity with regards to Dost is based on a belief that the rumour is rubbish then, or do you believe those who have actually seen him plenty of times and don't think he is good enough to all be completely wrong?
  9. I really struggle to see some of the negativity with the guy. It's a bit more of a gamble, but I like the look of the guy myself. Fantastic awareness in the box. It's up to the manager to get us playing so we create the chances for him. I agree about his mobility too. Looks a good athlete, with some quickness. How much have you seen from him apart from a three minute Dennis Wise scouting session? I am yet to see the first person who actually follows German or Dutch football suggest he is good enough for the PL. Luuk de Jong, who has had a similar career, is a better forward imo.
  10. If the Bas Dost rumours are true we can take an awful lot from that, especially on top of our managerial appointment.
  11. No chance we will ever pay that much after missing out on him for a quarter of that at most.
  12. About three times what he's worth.
  13. Obviously. What's stopping Woodman from walking away if CP offer him a better deal? Good point, guess it means we won't have to pay him off though like Carver and Stone? That's probably it.
  14. Fair enough. He's only played one season at this level like. He's more PL proven than the "£15m would get you far more than that outside of English football" options you propose, put it that way, and I would be interested to hear which strikers you think we could get abroad who would probably do better than him for less than £15m.

  16. Seriously, last year of his contract at a relegated club, £15m is a HUGE ask. He might justify a £15m fee if he had two or three years left, but only one? £15m would get you far more than that outside of English football. It really isn't. I don't even rate Austin that highly, but 15m doesn't get you a whole lot nowadays, even abroad. With the new TV deal I think you will find between 10 and 20 million is pretty much the going rate for a proven Premier League goal scorer. The fact QPR got relegated and Austin has one year on his current contract (does he?) is not particularly relevant as someone will pay it.

So looks like it might just be the FA Cup we are 'taking seriously' again, then? That is an absolutely outrageous statement. Once again nothing has changed. League survival is still the only objective, and we will take the cups "seriously" if it looks like we are safe halfway through the season. This summer is all about the emperor's new clothes.
  18. Makes you wonder if they would have stuck with Carver if it wasn't for McClaren getting released by Derby and being available on a free. They would never have paid compensation to get him in imo. Cheap cunts.
