Can’t see that figure being a hurdle in building up the club whether it be from the Championship or Prem. Anyways, I think you’re right in that Emery is somewhat risk averse and possibly felt guilty leaving the club a 1/3 of the way through the season.
-
you referring to the MLF’s on RTG?
-
What? I don’t buy that for a second. It doesn’t make sense.
-
Guilt, possibly, who knows, I anecdotally find Spanish people I’ve come across to have a flair for the dramatics.
-
Does that make the worst thing about it the road in?

This. I have a sneaking feeling he’s going to be great for us and we’re going to love the bloke once he brings us success. A first trophy ? for Eddie and us in decades via a cup would be perfect.

I’ll reactivate my Twitter account to have a go at Edwards if that happens. It’ll be an honour getting him to block me.

This is fantastic for two reasons: He can unearth value, improve it and make profit. He's now got the funds to match finding lower league skill with gifted players from the continent. Seems to me this is what PCP has communicated from the beginning, smart investment in players, infrastructure, operations, commercial revenue should lead to sustained success. Brilliant and I'm sure what most level headed supporters can get behind.

Bet Hope couldn't wait to Tweet that.

I never got that sense he was that dedicated to the game beyond his natural ability and the fruit of that was/is probably good enough for him. Remember how shell shocked he looked during the Liverpool transfer? He's as Geordie as they come, IMO.

Well said, mate. Appreciate a non bias view.

There’s quite a few on here who think we’re a better prospect than we actually are. Some might not want to be personally associated with PIF. I’m surprised we got that close to signing Emery. We’re 19th, winless, have just been taken over (look at the shit our new owners are getting, some deserved) a month ago, probably appear amateur as fuck to anyone coming from an organization with proper structure. Howe is up there with the best we could hope for right now. Like I said replying to @neesy111, he seems up for it, came prepared to our interviews and wants to be here. He could have fucked us off after the Emery debacle and waited for another opportunity more appealing than us. He’s talented, a player’s manager, that is data driven, tactical and ambitious. We also have no idea how much PIF are going to spend on this club until we’ve matured operationally and organizationally.
-
He’s up for it, knows it’s going to be a challenge and I hope to fuck he comes good and we dick over Villarreal in the Europa Final with Emery in the opposite dugout. I am not bitter.
-
Need to take the positives out of our search. It's given our ownership group a full view of how deep in the shit the club is, what type of investment is needed and getting the right executives in to turn our front office into a professional organization.
-
Oooooh data driven thinking! Who'd imagine we'd rocket into the 21rst century over night.
-
A year older than moi! Fuck, I've been on this message board far too long.
-
Not the greatest of looks, but it happens, there's only so much you can control in the hiring process.
-
if any of the tweet's suggesting he did a last minute about face, then aye. Stupid that any of that leaked out, but doesn't make him a saint, either and I imagine the pressure is on now in his current role.

NUFC has entered the chat.

lifting craic if he is.
-
She's the Director, of course it does. I've got no issue with Emery rejecting us, it's the way it's been played out in the press looking like amateur hour.
-
It getting to the press has to be a first strike against Staveley if I'm PIF. Reminds me of the nonsense years ago when Ashley was accusing her of playing games during the first takeover attempt.
-
The rot in this club is palpable trying to sell it to someone like Emery. I don't blame him one bit for knocking us back, we're shit thanks to Ashley (Bruce most recently) and it's going to take years to get to a level of respectability. If that means relegation and building back up from the Championship, then so be it. Bring in Howe to clear out the dead weight in the club, create a youth movement while adding the right players to support a solid spine of a team while investing in the facilities and infrastructure needed for sustained success. It's a let down, however, fuck it, I like Howe and will get behind him. There's peak immediacy and recency bias on here that change happens overnight like the takeover did. 14 years of rot can't be undone in a month, people.
