  1. Unlikely. This season, there are many teams that are rumoured to have applied for the Intertoto Cup. The highest placed finisher of all that have applied, assuming they don't finish in the automatic qualification places (5th/6th), go into the Intertoto. Rumour has it that Spurs, Everton, Reading, Pompey, Bolton, etc have all applied - so 10th probably won't be enough, no.
  2. There's been computerised images of the hotel, etc... has there been anything of the stadium extension itself?

I'm beyond debating about this with you now Parky, tbh. Viduka has been far superior to Kanu for ages now. Probably ever since Kanu entered the EPL.

He will want 40/50k a week if we get him free. Babel will want £40/50k a week, and we'll have to pay £8m on top of that to Ajax.

Ah ok, fair enough. Shearer only got about 150 for us then, cos penalty's don't count do they. They're not difficult to take - no one ever misses them. They don't change games, do they. Of course. And anyhow, he's scored an absolute boatload more in the cup competitions. He's been an invaluable player to Boro - all the Smoggies are desperate for him to stay. Yeah he did get 6 in the Uefa cup against Latvian/Polish/Norweigan part-timers. Who scored for us against those Latvian part-timers, again? Oh yeah. No one.

Also he has scored 14 this season so are you sure those stats are correct? I doubt he has only scored 4 goals for them before this season! Parky's only counted Premier League goals. He's been in double figures (i think over 15 aswell) in all his seasons at the Boro, presuming he does so in this one aswell.

He isn't just about goals although that record isn't too bad. As someone has said (YG I think) he would work well with Owen and Martins. His hold up play would allow us to keep possesion in attack. Also he has scored 14 this season so are you sure those stats are correct? I doubt he has only scored 4 goals for them before this season! Yup. On average nowadays, a prolonged eriod of time for us in the final third, lasts about four and a half seconds. Viduka is one of those types of players who can change that.

  9. I'd like to see them stay up tbh. Warnock's a bit of a knobhead at times but you have to give him credit. He's immensely passionate about the club he loves and he's done remarkably well with them. They've got some shite but they've got one or two players who can stick it in the Premiership, and would do alright with a couple of decent additions. I think that Stephen Quinn's good - didn't do much yesterday but i reckon he's got a big future. Hulse can be decent and Jagielka's a tidy player aswell. Plus - you look at the likes of Wigan and Boro - northern clubs - who get totally shite attendances, and just are simply NOT Premiership clubs. Sheffield United pack their stadium week in week out and love their footy. It'd be good to get a bit more of that in the Premiership. It's hardly gonna get much better with the Brummies and Mackems coming back up.

    Cliche-tastic!

Completely agree with that, with the ball at his feet - little touches, etc - he's good. But so's Viduka - but better in many other aspects.

Now you're moving away from what we quaintly call reality. What was unrealistic about what i said?

Kanu's just been a fluke imo. And - completely truthfull speaking - he's not got a touch on the quality Viduka possesses.

And to balance things out, we should really just not bother renewing Sibi's contract and just get Viduka. That'd be a whole better situation. Not only money-wise, but going on how much Sibierski has deteriorated this season, i dread to think what he'll be like - while inevitably being in the team due to injuries - this time next year.

Fair enough. But. / Viduka is an experienced head, without being past it. / He is a presence in the box. / He'd work well with both Martins and Owen. / He would be first class cover. / He will absolutely guarantee you goals. / He is strong and superb with his back to goal, bringing players into play. We've missed that crucial aspect, which became part and parcel of our game when a certain Mr Shearer was around. / And, no matter which way you look at it, he's a cheaper option because we won't have to pay anyone for him. Too good an opportunity to miss in my opinion. We have long term strikers in Martins and Owen, and - no matter how much some of you hate it - Shola aswell. So Viduka being a 'stopgap' for a couple of years, is no harm at all.

    Fratton Park

Who else tried to spell Fratton backwards, before they did it with Park?
  17. Yorkie

    Viduka

Shola and Owen would both be back, aswell as Martins - Viduka would just be cover/on the brink of the first team. No harm having experienced 'stopgaps' who'd always do you a decent job, for that sort of role. Aye, he'd cost a lot wages wise - but then so would a Crouch or a Bent or a Babel. All of whom would cost £8-10m initially on top of all that.

    Viduka

he wouldn't be free you tit. How much do you think he is demanding in wages for, wait for it, scoring goals as a striker, as dan b puts it? and you really think having that fat wanker around will improve squad morale? no more fucking stopgaps, and no more eejits saying 'if you don't want to sign XXX because he is free you must be mad' honeslty, with your record on match threads, it's a wonder you have the balls to post any football opinions 8)

    Viduka

Anyone who wouldn't take him in our situation, and with him being on a free, would be critically insane.
  20. Aye they do on that kit - cos there's loads of white on the shirt. Poxy, shitty, gay gold numbers just makes it look sick, though.
  21. Roeder loves him, but what happens if/when Roeder leaves this summer? Howay then smartarse, what's funny? People need to get it into their head that Roeder is NOT going to get sacked!
