  1. Credit to him tbh. It's a lot of air miles to travel there and back, just for a friendly. We should give him the number 9 shirt i think, just to say thankyou.
  2. We've looked really promising tonight actually. I can tell, purely from this game, that 5th/6th is ours for the taking. Big Sam is already a legend. Hail Allahdyce.
  3. You need attacking and creative wing-backs when you're using 4-5-1 anyway. Which is why Geremi would be a much better option than Solano, atleast. Geremi will work, i reckon. As much as i love Nobby, effective long balls can only be so effective. judging by players bought so far 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 is as likely as 4-5-1 Don't disagree.
  4. Fine - whatever. Geordies are stereotyped and they have been in particular places, if not this one, regarding this potential appointment. Sorted.
  5. You pointed it out, not me!

  7. if it was media stereotyping it would have said fans, not heirarchy Are you saying that we, as a 'race', aren't stereotyped by the media? Just a question, not saying you are. Because i'd find that very hard to agree with. Exhibit A, Channel5 last season. I was talking about the bit in the article, nothing else. Are Geordies stereotyped? Exhibit B: Micheal Owen's unveiling. Well aye, that's fair enough. It's been mentioned elsewhere though - wherever it first came out, the Chronicle or the Journal, and said the "fans will be pleased to see Taylor follow in Shearer's footsteps" or something... Don't really understand what you're getting at with the second bit though, Vic. But what i was getting at is that we're stereotyped to be these traditionalists just because of what the likes of Shearer and Keegan brought to the place. Channel5's coverage of us last season is merely an example of that, they were shocking for it. Pointing out how everyone's favourite player was Parker cos he 'gets stuck in'; one of their key contributions. like I said, they used the word heirarchy, not fans/locals So you agree that Newcastle fans*are sterotyped, then? *Altered from Geordies --- For the record, i've often called myself 'half-Geordie'. My whole family's Geordie though, except me and my sis who were both born down here. I've lived in Newcastle aswell. Well, Hebburn.

  10. Not overly chuffed with the decision, but he's worth a starting role more than Butt or Solano is so i guess he is the obvious choice. Barton was probably Allardyce's only other preferred candidate, and maybe hang back because he's too new. The Geordie thing is typical media stereotyping. Certainly outside of the big four, 'Geordies' are stereotyped more than any other collection of fans. We love our old-fashioned strikers, we'd rather lose 5-4 than win 1-0, we want Shearer as manager, we want another Geordie captain. It's nonsense - we're realistic. It's just paper talk. Taylor's an obvious candidate for Captain, whether he speaks with an accent or not. Allardyce's reasons will be based around a wholly footballing point of view, he's not naive enough to pick a captain just cos it'll apparantely appease the fans. In regards to the poll; selected No but i'm not totally against it.

    Left-Back

Bridge, by the most colossal landslide imagineable.

    Club Captain

And, regarding the decision, the fact that he is a Geordie will have absolutely fuck all to do with it.

    Club Captain

How can he lead a team when he can't even lead a defense? Sam seems intent on nurturing the raw talent that Taylor has; the lad has potential as a defender, more than anyone that this club has had in a lot of years, but he's 21. And Sam's method is spot on; i'd be confused if Taylor became Captain. Tayls needs someone telling him what to do, before he can start telling others, imo. If Butt were an automatic starter, he'd be the blatant choice. If Butt wasn't a regular starter, then Barton.

    Club Captain

Not wise, imo. However he looks the most regular starter of all the candidates so it seems the obvious choice - Shay Given not being captain material in the slightest.
  15. I think the point of the debate was what if we could have those 5 £10 million players and Ronaldinho? In other words what if signing him had no effect at all on other signings. Ah right, like i say - didn't read all of it, was just giving my opinion. In that case, i might be slightly apprehensive but to say i'd be embarrassed and depressed might be pushing it...
  16. Haven't read the thread but the article is obviously bullshit. Regarding Kaka/Nut's little debate; i'd rather have five £10m rated players than Ronaldinho. No footballer is worth that much.
  17. Nice city. its a really nice ground like Aye. I played a hockey match there once.
  18. It's like John Barnes and Jon Helm though. Sheer entertainment even if we are at nil each with Zulte Waregem.
  19. He was only asking a question tbf and I reckon he is probably right And i was only pointing something out, and saying for people not to get on his back straight away.
  20. Ah fuck it. Can't be arsed with petty, stoppy bastards.
  21. He signed up an hour ago telling us his regular feature will appear here in future, so I enquired who he was. He was hardly getting grief for me to warrant cutting him slack tbh. "Just another HTT alter-ego", or whatever it was you said. Give him a break, it's an article, not an uber-post.
  22. Um, Steven Carr. We bloody well need a right-back. Um, Geremi and Nobby Solano. A right-back would be useful. A left-back is vital.
