He's on the writing team and his article's on the main site. Cut him some slack.

He'll probably do well on an individual level, agreed Baggio. Whether he's the right signing for Sunderland is another question. Sure, they need a flair player to grab their squad by the balls, but Richardson is hardly the most striking of options.

Summed my thoughts up on the situation in another thread:
-
We could still be after another left back though, as Sam did say he wanted 2 LB's not so long ago. And Young would provide decent depth at RB tbh. I think we've got enough depth there already with Geremi and Solano tbh, he's not needed and would just be a waste. Think I'd like to have a more natural, defensively sound right-back for some of the more physical away games if I'm honest. Reckon we'll be getting one of Young or Fanni for just that reason. I'd prefer Fanni tbh, as we know Young is very limited while Fanni might turn out top drawer. Good post by OML as well, agree entirely. Aye, I'd rather sign Fanni too, he may turn out like Chimbonda but if he doesn't work out we can always play Geremi there for the rest of the season. With Young you know what you're getting, an average Premiership defender. Young's definitely proven though. He's decent cover on the cheap. If Sam's midset is... Right-back: "Sign Geremi for the starting role, pick up Young on the cheap for squad depth." Left-back: "Sign PlayerX for the starting role, pick up Quedrue on the cheap for squad depth." ... i like his thinking.
-
Reckon we'll probably see Geremi as the official right-back. Solano will be in and out so Young will be in there for squad depth, rather than a starting place. And for a second choice right-back, Young at £2.7m is good business.

We could still be after another left back though, as Sam did say he wanted 2 LB's not so long ago. And Young would provide decent depth at RB tbh. Holding out for both of these statements... He said that he wanted two left-backs, so there's every chance we do have some cash to spend, so we may yet see an <insert name> coming through the door yet, with Quedrue merely providing squad depth. Plus, if Young comes in - that's exactly what he'd do. Geremi's a good, and much better, option for right-back than Young is. It's either: lack-of-cash-so-getting-half-decent-players-in-on-cheap... Or: plenty-of-cash-so-i'll-add squad-depth-then-buy-significant-improvements... Both technical terms, btw.

Mediocre, but like the Quedrue situation, if we've got no more than £2.7m as a maximum budget for a right-back, then we could do a lot worse. Begging for us to sort the full-back situation with proper ones, but it's becoming more and more obvious that we don't have a big budget, for me, and these two would do.

Does seem a bit of a come-down in all honesty, Quedrue and Young. Nevertheless, if we were forced into making such low-key signings, it really would signal that we've got naff all to blow big on, and they're two Premiership wing-backs - who are both experienced and potentially effective - for cheap money. Certainly not mindblowing but if we've got no more than £5m to spend on full-backs, i'd be happy if these two were the products. And if Sam can help Quedrue find the form of his Boro days, we'll have an excellent stop-gap on our hands.

It looks shit, is childish, and it's pointless; that's why i pointed it out. Love being a prick, btw. Stressy mare.

Not much this summer. £5-10m i reckons.

Good stuff from the management set up. Had nowt, tried it, didn't work, lost nowt. We'd have signed him by now if this was Roeder.

Don't read em!

Where've they got all this cash from all of a sudden? Hope they go down. Never a Premiership club and it was a disgrace getting rid of Coleman like that.
-
Did it ever come out who that guy was...? Was some Egyptian guy i think.

Who's the blonde fella?

If any major spending takes place this season, i see it only taking place in January. Sam's building the squad at the moment. We'll see how we're doing in a few months time; he can review every area of the squad and see what we're lacking in, and if we need a super-signing - the money will be there for him. Arguably a negative approach, but a sensible one at this time.
-
Don't think we'd made any. Duff was mid-July if i remember correctly...
-
Bridge is going to miss the start of the season with an injury... therefore I can't see Sam going for him tbh. I'd go for him anyway. He might miss a bit but it's not like he'd miss four months, is getting on, is Brazilian, and probably won't adapt to this league... If we're serious about buying a left-back (would be a nice change) then we should go for Bridge.
-
£6m for Bridge. Take it or leave it; he's worth that.

A week. 3 days apparently, started today. With Sam only their for two of them? Oh good, that means Lee Clark and Terry Mac are running the rule. "Lee Clark believes we should make this signing at all costs." Nailed on.
