Barton has got plenty of goals and assists through the years tbh; plus he's still young and could really kick off in a good side. You have to remember that he's been playing in one of the Premiership's ultimate 'also-rans' all through his career.

Or, on the other hand: Ameobi isn't shit. He's a steady yet unspectacular centre-forward who'll get you the odd goals and on the whole do a decent job when called upon, and a fecking decent option for fourth choice. Owen and Martins might click, but then we'll be playing 4-3-3 anyway and one of them might be dropped/they could work like that anyway. No one will buy Owen at the moment and Martins is currently developing, another 17 goals from him would be fine with me. As Baggio said, the striking line-up we've got at the moment is arguably the best in the Premiership, atleast for the short term.

I'd really love to see us get Baines. Would just love to see him develop under Big Sam.

Baring in mind that we'll probably be playing a 4-3-3, so you can throw Milner/Duff into that list of names aswell. If we go out and buy another striker now, presuming no one leaves, we're fucking loonies.

Even if he was going to leave, why the hell would he be replaced with Fredi Kanoute? Not writing it off especially (doesn't seem to be much in it, granted), but i honestly wouldn't understand it.

I like Kanoute, reckon he's a good player. But £7m is a lot of money for someone we don't need, and for someone who will turn 30 at some point next season. He didn't set England alight, either. There'd be him, Viduka and Shola... what would be the point? We're covered in the striking department. He's performed very well because it's a league he's very comfortable with - there's no guarantee he'd continue the form in England.
