    Why not buy a right-back?

What would you rather, MJ? May '08: 4. Arsenal 5. Spurs 6. Newcastle or 4. Newcastle 5. Spurs 6. Arsenal

    Wes Brown

He's more out than in, and not brilliant when he is in. Not worth what we'd have to pay, imo.
  4. You're probably joking... but a penalty miss is like any other. Regardless of how high it goes. Shearer skyed some n'all. I was there. My first EVER game i went to, against Blackburn in the Worthington Cup. Blasted it into the Leazes, the bastard.
  5. Wouldn't disagree. His one-on-ones are pitiful. But these things can be worked on - finishing; he's not a brilliant finisher. And in regards to the sitters of sitters, i honestly can't remember many. There was one early in the season against Everton, and also against Fenerbahce i think in the first half where the ball rolled across goal (and he wasn't there). But that's predatory instinct in the box, a centre-forward's job. That can be worked on, too. But baring in mind he was never an out and out centre-forward before he came here, it's not totally surprising he didn't get on the end of such passes. And with a bit of luck, he won't be the centre-forward next season, the 'main man' as i said earlier.
  6. Allardyce has distanced himself apparantely, check the Amsterdam thread. *from Brown.
  7. Well that's where we're different, then. To me - it's utter nonsense to say that Martins won't get any better. And even if he doesn't, and bags 17 goals every season, i shan't complain. More realistically speaking, i actually don't see him having such a fruitful season infront of goal, in comparison to last season. Things are changing, he won't be the main man anymore. If Owen is in the team every week, i can see Martins getting 12 or 13 goals next term. Allardyce's main job is to get Martins playing when he's not scoring. Which i think will happen. Oba won't score as many goals, but i think he'll be a better player.
  8. OK, that's his chance to improve over and done with, then. First season's over - that's it, he's not gradually improving.
  9. In what way has Martins improved? Well considering it took him about three months to actually start playing. Someone else who thinks he's the already the finished article, then. EDIT: And also considering he's never scored more than 13 goals in a season until this last one, which was also in a new league/shit team.
  10. Bellamy is probably a better all-round player than Martins at the moment, but while Bellamy is seemingly deteriorating - Martins is improving.
  11. If i were to have it my way, the backline would be: Geremi -- Taylor -- Ben Haim -- Baines
  12. Can i point out aswell that fake names like Newcastle/Black & White Mags will also warrant a telling off. As i have found out in the past.
  13. The sticky actually says that they're out next week.

    Kieron Dyer....

Taking his man on, he was great at - despite not having any form of lightning pace. His crossing was erratic though to say the least.
  15. Couple years time, Martins > Bellamy. I'd only be interested in Bellamy if one of Martins or Owen left, though. We don't need another striker at the moment. Liked him when he was here, under Bobby atleast, but £9m is steep for a striker who doesn't score enough goals.
  16. I shan't worry. He won't.

What the fuck are City doing? EDIT: Though to be fair, Allardyce said the Viduka medical would be next week. So i'm expecting the Barton signing in about three quarters of an hour.

I was definitely against it; not totally surprised by that. The main reason for that was because the rumoured fee was £5m or something, and Milner was off. If that was the case this season, i'd still be against it. But it's not the case - we're getting him for nowt and Milner is still here. I'm dead chuffed.
  20. We will not win the European Championships with Steve McClaren. Bottom line. People can have a go at me for "oh, another one of Yorkie's know-it-all presumptions", but that, above, is absolutely nailed on. Not a cat in hell's chance.
  21. I actually think he would have come here anyway. Still reckon that one of the major factors (non-footballing-wise) of his coming here was because he didn't have to relocate.
  22. When there's also 3 goals and none conceded, i'd say so aye.
