  1. Yep, brilliant curling, cutting pass. Superb vision and it's hardly as if the ball was static. S'all Beckham is good for, though - and if we're going to rely on that then it's time to start worrying, this is Estonia after all. He was hardly darting up and down the wing, beating players. He'd be made mincemeat of by a good left-wing/left-back combo. Just like in the World Cup. And when you consider he's a million miles away, and on £500,000 a week, and he's the wrong side of 30 - i'm not optimistic. Impact player at most, for me. But you can't bench David Beckham, can you.
  2. Surely Nugent has to be in there! Who are the other centre-mids, btw? Don't know much about Noble.
  3. I thought he had?? “I have given my word to Newcastle United and that is where I hope I will be going. “Everybody knows they are a club of great history and tradition - and that is great - but what has also been great for me is that they have pushed the boat out for me, and both Freddy Shepherd and Sam Allardyce have made me feel so wanted.” “I am not proud of some of the things I have done and know I have brought a lot of my problems on myself. But I want to be a winner, not only for myself, but for the fans. “I have heard it said that footballers are all about flash cars and expensive watches, but for me, it is all about winning medals and it hurts me that I haven’t any.”
  4. Presumably injured, because he didn't play against Brazil either. EDIT: Evidently not! Who's England's next game against, btw? Israel at home?
  5. I don't know whether i've got admiration or shame for someone who puts £100 on a bet such as that. Credit to you if it comes off, though.
  6. The first goal wasn't much of a cross, Bridge was shocking all night (as was Brown down the right), it was Crouch's flick that made the goal. But the two long balls from Beckham were superbly executed and it was overall good attacking play. The movement from both Crouch and Owen was excellent and with Crouch's in-particular, it was a superbly guided header. The ball from Beckham just bounced, there was no pace on the ball by the time it reached Crouch, and he was still a good 12-yards out. Managed to get a lot of power and direction on it though, ace header. They were all good goals in fairness.
  7. http://www.eurosport.fr/football/ligue-1/2...to1202579.shtml http://www.football.fr/fr/footballfr/cmc/s...stle_23317.html Do either of those sources have any reliability, btw? Presumably people will know more of Eurosport...
  8. Audacious as fuck! Fingers crossed for you, pal.
  9. I think Gerrard could when utilised properly/not put alongside that joke of an international.
  10. Not see Joe Cole this evening then? Not really, no. The only part I watched fully was the last 30mins. Cole did look crap from what I saw though. Ah OK, well yeah. Apart from his goal, he was a clumsy headless chicken for the entirety of the match.
  11. Remember that article last summer, "Aye, I think Roeder should go for Torres lad, he looks canny"
  12. Was he cutting in from the left...? No, it was from a ball played in from the left hand side, Crouch headed it on, the ball came down to Cole fairly central, 18 yards out. He turned and hit it off the chest; smashing finish.
  13. You've got to love Mick Quinn really. He's bound to be a big fan of Viduka, he's the only player to play for Newcastle who's fatter than him. Loved the comment about the Smogs. Absolutely spot on aswell.
  14. Not see Joe Cole this evening then? We were alright, it wasn't a great performance - it was a decent performance, which tends to be enough to beat the likes of Estonia 3-0 when we've got the quality in our squad. The wing-backs, Lampard and Joe Cole were all shit. Best player for me was Peter Crouch, who won absolutely everything and took his goal expertly. Beckham was good, and i suppose he's proved me wrong in some respects, but i mean what's the point? Hardly a long term solution is it.
  15. Israel are 2 up btw.
  16. Why do we need a defensive midfielder against Estonia? He is injured, don't think he was in the squad.
  17. 2-0 i'd go for. Lampard/Gerrard.
  18. I say offer him and £5million to Everton for Mikel Arteta. I'm sure they'll welcome Emre with open arms. blueyes.gif That's definitely something i'd be for.
  19. Yes, but it depends who we replace him with. I'm not Emre's biggest fan, but i'd be eager to see him given a chance under a good manager. I won't be overly bothered if we sell him, but i'd be happy to see him stay.
  20. Mate Emre is quality...He just needs a full season without any injuries, racisim bullsh8t accusations, a good manager and someone decent next to him in the centre of the park... Out of interest, what's that belief based on? Cos when he's good, he's really good. He's been very inconsistent in his two years here, but i'm of the same opinion. He's hardly ever been utilised properly and i reckon he'll flourish in a good side.
  21. Where's Viduka? I know! It's fucking class innit! So many options and a damned hard headache for the manager. It's ace.
  22. Yeah, i dunno - i was being a bit dreamy. Isn't Giuly more of a wide player?
  23. Would be immense if it came off. He'll only be 31 next season, not over the hill whatsoever. More 'experienced' than 'too old'. Quality player! ------------------------- Butt -------------------------- -------------- Barton --------- Giuly ----------------- Milner ---------------------------------------- Martins ------------------------ Owen ------------------------- Christ. Our team has the potential to be fucking awesome next season, regardless of this possible deal. EDIT: Btw, i don't know if that team looks right shape-wise - i've got a small monitor so it looks OK to me.
