Doubt he'd settle for a place on the bench and he would want high wages Exactly the same for a big money striker, though!!! See my point! Whatever striker we buy, is going to be cover. I'd rather spend nowt on it than £10m!

    Gary Neville

HOW has he not redeemed himself...? A goal and an assist in the Nou Camp......? Or has he done something else?

Could do with a draw between Boro and Reading tbh. Reading win and they go ten points clear of us. Boro win wouldn't be too bad - they'd be one point off us. On a side note... Viduka on a free. Get him signed up. £10m on Huntelaar/Bent/Ashton/Crouch + trying to fit them in a new formation + one of them being left on the bench making them unhappy, etc. Or. £0 on Viduka. Reliable back-up who always scores goals and won't complain too much if he's left out of the team. Will happily sit there earning his wages and might not even have to move house. He's not everybody's cup of tea, but he's a goalscorer and a presence in the box - there's no doubt about it. I'd be very happy to see him come in for nowt, rather than us blow cash that we don't have on a striker we don't need.
  4. I agree, which begs the question of why are we looking at a £10 million rated left-back? As daft as that would be, left-back is a priority. Possibly THE. But, agreed, if we go and spend £10m on Bale i won't be incredibly happy. How he is worth it at 18, and in the Championship, in an average Championship side... i just don't know. Leighton Baines... all the way!
  5. Obviously doesn't know the rules then. Has to finish just after the automatic spots to get into Intertoto, can't just say "Oh we're going in there' You mean like when we qualified for it from 14th place? Goddd i say this every time. The team who qualifies for the Intertoto, are the team who finishes highest of all those who apply. But we're definitely going to apply, Bolton probably will, Reading, Everton, Villa, Spurs etc.. most likely will so the probability is that you'll have to finish just behind the automatic spots to get the Intertoto spot like last season when we had to finish 7th. Fair enough, you didn't really mean that with your first post, though. The rules don't state that you have to finish outside the automatic spots, which is what you said initially. But you're right. A lot of teams will apply so the chances are you'll have to finish 6th/7th/whatever it'll be. On a side note, i hope we apply.

  7. Not worried about them tbh. They won't finish in the top half. It's touch and go if we'll finish up there, but i'll be stunned if Blackburn are higher than us again.
  8. Cracking player... would be a pointless waste of too much money. Watch us sign another top class player, then Roeder not know how to fit all three in, and our formation and entire game collapse and falter and blar blar blar. And if we were to stay with 4-4-2, someone wouldl always be unhappy.
  9. Thought that was funny myself. However, monumentally sad that he chose to sweep through entire threads of ours, choosing this quote and that quote, just to bump it on his own forum - which must have taken ages. Wow, how cool are Boltoners? Funny in places though.

    Duffer

And did absolutely nowt when he had it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt by saying that he doesn't have a good left-back to play with, and i mean like EVER, so he was effectively up against 11 defenders all on his own last night. But it's make or break for him now, these next two or three games. If he doesn't start performing - N'Zogbia simply HAS to be back in the side.
  11. My sentiments exactly. I've suffered enough of Lawrenson's dislike of us down the years to go beyond caring. And it's not as if he does it unprofessionally, like a certain bignosed Scouser cunt. Now he is someone that 'blows smoke up my arse'.

I thought you were sick of it?

    Pardew on Bent

I wouldn't go into double figures for him. But then i wouldn't go into double or significantly large figures for any striker, because we simply don't need to.

    Owen for Kuyt?

Owen's world class. And he still will be. *Gulp*
  15. The service isn't great, especially when Duff's in the side, but it's his movement is the bigger problem in my opinion. He doesn't do enough in the box. Milner's been superb all season and he's been very creative. But he's tired and is crying out for a rest. Very, very daft that he didn't get one last night. He was shite last Wednesday and wasn't great last night - it's plainly obvious that he needs a rest. Would be smashing to see Martins get that record. Would rather just see him score 25 goals though, a la Ferdinand.

    Central defence

Anyone who wants to drop Taylor in his form is off their rocker tbh. Bramble's had two good games. Taylor's had a good season, on the whole. Started slowly - not poorly - but has really got going. He's in fine form. Bramble, yes so is he, but consider the opposition. They had one fit out and out striker in the entire squad (squad of part-timers btw), and he didn't even start at St James' Park. And i don't think Tayls was any worse than Bramble over the two legs. Taylor and Gooch. For sure.

    Central defence

Hopefully he will get dropped, so as not to halt Taylor's good form and superb progress, and so as not to stop Gooch from adapting. We've seen this millions of times from Bramble... 3 or 4 blinding performances, then 10 bad ones. I'm not falling for it.
  18. Aye, NSG's right - they packed the defense and it would be right to save our strength for Wigan. But we simply showed very little desire to penetrate them. The amount of sideways and backwards passes nullified the game into sheer dullness. And the thing is, little sideways passes like that in your own half only invites pressure, and we've been caught out a few times over the two legs. It's just God awful to watch. Especially against opponents like this where you know you could just hammer them if you really wanted to.
  19. The Quarter Final/Semi Final is a completely new draw, if we overcome Alkmaar.
  20. Just looking at it again, it really was expertly finished by Oba. That's what he does you see. It's just what he does. He can have a throughly shite game, yet come out with the winning goal. He's a matchwinner - and we've really missed that. If you discount Owen's 'spell' in the side, we haven't had an out and out matchwinner since Shearer, pre-2005ish.
  21. PSG are a lot about nothing nowadays tbh. Absolute shadow and less than what they were a few years ago. Doing shockingly in Ligue 1 aswell.
  22. If you're talking to me here, then i again must go back to my original comment. I never actually said he did abysmally bad tonight, i said later that he didn't do great and was uncompareable to Butt, however - my initial statement was a general overview of Pattison. I haven't watched any reserve matches whatsoever, which is why i won't comment (in-depth atleast) on any regular reserve players. Pattison however, has established himself as a regular squad player and has made lots of appearances, including 3 (?) starts. And i honestly cannot see what makes anyone think that he is good enough. I don't suppose many do think so, but it's a point worth making.
  23. On the basis of this season i said. As for the bandwagon. I see one person jumping on his back, and i wasn't even doing it on tonight's performance especially. I see absolutely nothing, over the entire season, that encourages me into thinking that he'll be a decent player for us. He doesn't appear to have the, or any required, ability. Now who's stoopid.
