Read thy thread. Fenerbahce or Alkmaar.

Cliff Bastin played about 15 games for Exeter City before going to Arsenal and getting that famous goalscoring record, yet one of the stands at Exeter is named after him. Shearer played 118 games for them over 4 years by the way. Meh.
-
Well considering he played about 20 games for them. :?

Sibierski plays well... but i think it is in Newcastle's best interests to build the team around Kieron Dyer when he is fit, which he is at the moment and is showing no signs of any muscular problems that have held him back during the past. And Dyer's best position is the one that Sibierski occupies. Love Sibi, i really do... but Dyer-Martins is still the partnership i reckon.

Missed the Lisbon game then? ;-) But yes, i know exactly what you mean. And it is on the basis of this that i feel we can do very, very well in Europe this year. We appear to perform better against the better teams. Having Fener, Vigo, Palermo in our group - three tough European outfits - we saw some cracking football from our boys and some real, dogged, fighting spirit that won us nine very impressive points. Had we have played poor teams, say four Levadias in our group, the games would have been poor and we would have been rubbish. And i fear for the Zulte matches, despite my confidence. I'm very optimistic about the UEFA Cup this season.

Surely that'd be the most hilarious ban on the forum ever?

POST match thread. <<<<<<<<<< Wanker.

Why the F*** would Solano benefit from countless free headers being given straight to the keeper? What about all the ones he's converted aswell? CARE TO MENTION THEM??? HE PLANTED TWO EASY HEADERS TODAY IN HOWARD'S ARMS Btw - did you not notice his world class conversion from an average cross today? It was behind him... now that's making something out of nothing. Crouch is good at that. YES I DID, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE HE HARDLY EVER F***ING DOES IT, LANKY STREAK OF WANK Breathe... breathe... ;-) He's scored plenty of headed goals. His heading ain't the greatest but i've already explained in my previous posts the benefits of his figure.

Next game is Birmingham. Formations/thoughts, etc - in here s'il vous plais! tongue.gif

I didn't mention this earlier... but why the F*** did we pass back to Given straight from the kick-off? Ridiculously piss-boiling. Parker. Scott.

<<<<< Cheeky wanker. I'm of the impression that we can beat anyone in the UEFA Cup. Don't really know why, i just have a feeling that we can do it this time. There's some great teams in it, no doubt about it, but the team spirit that we posess - aswell as a cracking atmosphere when we get going - might just help us achieve something really, really amazing. If we beat Alkmaar (presuming they'll knock out Fener) - it is well and truly on.

Disagree... Nobby is a constant threat with his delieveries into the box. I just wish that Emre would let him handle the set pieces.

Fair enough mate. Suppose we concentrate on the League and sacrifice the cups. Where do you see us finishing in the league? 9th, 10th? I personally think we can write the League off this season - we're not going to qualify for shit through the League this season. So F*** it, let's go for the Cups and see what happens. Get to 42 points in the League and keep our fingers crossed for reasonable draws in the cups. :) Can't really have read either of my posts properly. I'm suggesting we go hell for leather in the UEFA Cup, or the Carling Cup as it were.

Why the F*** would Solano benefit from countless free headers being given straight to the keeper? What about all the ones he's converted aswell? Not especially a case of him putting every one in the back of the net - he's a target in the air, and every ball that's flying aerially into the box he's in with a 90% chance of winning. Whether it goes in or not, it's a goalscoring opportunity... he could head it down for someone else or the keeper could spill. Peter Crouch is a key player for Liverpool when he is on the pitch. I bet a hefty chunk of their goals involve the man. Btw - did you not notice his world class conversion from an average cross today? It was behind him... now that's making something out of nothing. Crouch is good at that. I don't particularly want us to splash out big money on a striker, but if we did - and Crouch was the player we brought in - i wouldn't be too gutted.

Certainly Midds, i want to see us win every game, but i'd just rather we stopped chasing lost causes and attempt to win a competition that we can actually do so. I might be looking into a crystal ball here, but i really can't see us winning the FA Cup this year.

keep providing those avs and you can criticise me all you want....who she ? How the fuck i wasn't in the running for the best avatar award i have no idea. It's Evangeline Lilly from Lost.

Tell you who would benefit from Peter Crouch being at the club... Nobby Solano. His crossing is still fucking sublime. I only saw the highlights of the Man Utd game, but i've been watching him all season. And that one for Sibierski this afternoon was immense.
-
Not criticising you especially, Madras, it's a decent obsevation... and call be a grumpy old bastard but... so? It's 2007 and we're 13th in the Premier Division. Long way to go before i'm convinced by Roeder.

I love the FA Cup. It's a brilliant and wholly unpredictable competition that i would love, more than any other competition that we enter, for us to win at some point in my lifetime. I'm not really bothered about the fact that we don't challenge for the Premiership title anymore; though i didn't really understand football in 1996, and i'm sure those that did would have contrasting opinions. The FA Cup is just magic and there is nothing more tense than a tight, late-round cup game at St James' Park - they're awesome. However, i can't help but think that we're chasing a lost cause right now. Let's be realistic - it's majorly unlikely that we're going to win the competition, this season especially. We've had our chances in the past - but in the two 'recent' successive seasons that we've reached the final, we've played lesser teams and gotten mullered at the final hurdle. And that keeps happening. The last thing that i want to see us do this season, is clock up more needless appearances against lesser teams, then reach the quarters or semis and get hammered by the Man Utds or the Chelseas. In my honest opinion, it just isn't worth it and it is a waste of energy, in a busy season. We're far better off concentrating our efforts on the UEFA Cup, a competition which we could do this or that ( we don't really know) or, as it were - the Carling Cup. It wasn't a coincidence that i was engrossed in the league cup this year, as apposed to my favourite - the FA Cup. Because i genuinely thought we had a chance of winning it. The main cup however, i realistically think otherwise and it sickens me somewhat. Should the lesser side beat us on Saturday, i'll be disappointed, but i know i won't be sticking my head in the oven like i would have been three/four years ago.

Hence he'll be off in a year or two My concern... he'd be class at Arsenal. If we get into the Top 6 within the next couple of years, our young talents will either stay, or go for stupid money. IE - £10m+.

Nowt wrong with the midfield. It's just unbalanced. Once we've got Duff on form, and Milner continuing his progress (or maybe even SWP coming in), and the correct balance by consistently dropping Parker - we'll be fine. Hmm. :? All ifs buts and maybes, i know, but to say that our midfield is our achilles heel is farcical tbh. Balls.
