    Dogawful Officiating

Howard Webb on the TNT "mic'd up" show saying they shouldn't have disallowed Bournemouth's non-winner against us, on the basis of it not being a conclusive handball. Looks like we got away with one.
  2. Villa shirt is a beaut. Better version of that one Man Utd had in the late 90s.
  3. Great read tbf. Will be therapeutic for most on here I reckon.
  4. I'm pretty well over McCoist at this point like. Him and Darren Fletcher are pure headache fuel. That said, I have come around to Fletcher a bit. Seems to know his onions. Just rarely shuts up.
  5. Thought that template looked pretty inoffensive at first but hmm. It's definitely better than this year's silliness, at least.

    Harvey Barnes

We think that this goal was better than the West Ham one? West Ham might still pinch it for me, y'kna. Would be interested to know which was the harder strike. Have made this point before but Molineux has such ugly aesthetics from the TV angle. So much clutter. Nowt can look as good there. Regardless, he strikes a ball absolutely beautifully. Up there with Hatem and Robert as far as that's concerned.
  7. I agree that we're not playing terribly, and we're not undeserving of the vast majority of our points on the board, I just hoped to see an improvement after the break. We were better against Spurs. @The Prophet I think you've summed-up the issues pretty well. It's all fixable and there's nothing like good results to build momentum and buy time to iron-out issues.
  8. I think the answer to that is because we weren't playing well as a team and not creating enough decent chances. We had possession but Wolves stepped off us from the kick-off. I'm as forgiving as can be but yesterday was a robbery in terms of the result. Hats off to the lads for getting it done and making our extra quality be the difference, but I don't think what we're doing atm is sustainable. I suppose the most important thing to do after that summer, and with all the uncertainty and agendas, was get results through whatever means. We're doing that, but it's definitely a bit alarming that performances aren't really improving.
  9. I've no idea what the scope is in terms of potential penalties, but the PL isn't going to cut its nose off to spite its face. Stripping titles and/or relegating them would undermine the competition's most prestigious and lucrative era and cause untold reputational damage. They'll settle for transfer bans or some other punishment they'll barely feel.
  10. On team selection, I never have too much beef with Longstaff's name being on the teamsheet. He's limited and those limitations certainly stood out today, but he's often alright and he's actually had a solid start to the season. Howe obviously feels that Tonali needs to be eased into the side; it's a shame that we have to go on like he's some sort of imbecile for thinking Longstaff is better than the guy he committed £52m of our finances on. There might be something else to it, lads. Murphy was less explicable but that's two away games out of two that Barnes has arrived from the bench and made a massive impact. So maybe there's some justification in that. I'm not here to blindly defend Howe, though. We are being bailed-out by good fortune, individual brilliance and the sheer mettle of the lads. Our problems go beyond our unfancied squad players stinking up the team-sheet; we've got structural problems. Why can't Isak get in the game? Why is Joelinton playing shite? What exactly is Tino's role? Why are we still getting caught in possession so much in the first third? Why are our set pieces useless? Why have we no tempo? There's a fair amount to fix with the team atm - personnel isn't the main issue imo.
  11. Christ almighty, even the MotD comms edit is driving the Mitchell/Howe rift story.
  12. Shirt looked fabulous today; not that you can really miss with that design and those colours. It will look even better in the crisp sunshine at Craven Cottage because, as far as kits go, it's Autumnal as fuck. Mixed feelings on the blue shorts. I'm in favour of the individuality, though white would obviously look better... then again, on the basis of that U21s fixture, the shorts have that stupid swoosh, so flat blue prevents that spoiler.
  13. Carragher was very audibly groaning when Wolves were giving it away in the attack. Instinctively I think he's faaaairly balanced when it comes to us - he's applauded our big moments and big characters plenty of times. But he was a homer today. Whatever, really. It's funny when it's like that but we end up winning.
  14. I absolutely love this team. That's all I can be arsed to muster at this point.
  15. We're shite whoever is in the team on the basis of this. There's no impetus at all.
  16. Yeah, poor half, no doubt about that. Longstaff is an obvious lightning rod but the bigger issue is that we don't have a coherent or impactful attacking gameplan. Extremely passive and predictable, not apparently playing to anybody's strengths. Early days but doesn't look like the break has given us anything. Hmm.
  17. Are you confident he sees three years in the job?
  18. Based on this and last week they are the opposite of clinical.
