  1. Very disappointed for him and agree with hindsight that it was a poor decision to have him step up, because clearly he wasn't psychologically strong enough in the moment to put it away. But I respect him for going for it.
  2. Yeah, that was a poor sub, no idea why Murphy stayed on instead.
  3. Pilko, it takes absolutely nowt for you to leap to everything being way worse than it is. Just chill out, man. It's a poxy result because Everton are crap but Goodison is usually a nightmare for us. A point and a good performance is never a disaster on the road, let alone there.
  4. Genuinely haven't a clue how we were 'really poor' at all. We controlled the game, moved the ball well, won the ball back time after time, created several good chances and ultimately should have won. Agree that it's a bad result because terrible opponents are opportunities for three points, but I see very little to dig out there. Stick Isak in and it's three points no question.
  5. quick flick through the thread. Sigh, enjoy the misery, those of you. We were good tonight, just snatched at every single big chance, which is very annoying. Everton had their chance because of course they did; PL teams always get a chance. We were by a country mile the better team there. Point on the road, take it and move on. Tldr; PATHETIC!!!
  6. Bleh, annoying. Decent performance with poor finishing. Happily take the point at the land of feral beasts but we should've won.
  7. Infuriating if we can't put these away, man. They're rubbish. Not that we're much better tonight, so frustrating.

  9. Howe says he'll be back after the international break, along with Wilson for a game or two.
  10. I watched it with a couple of very sound PSG fans in a pub in Toulouse, who couldn't believe what was happening and didn't begrudge me at all for losing my shit when Schär put the gloss on it. A bit like @Groundhog63, would've loved to have been there but tbh I wouldn't change the experience - it was still very special and unique.
  11. Wow, what an unexpected treat. Fantastic. Would pay daft money to have heard Eddie's debrief in the dressing room. Pity they inexplicably didn't show more build up to the first and fourth goals.
  12. It'll be an incredibly rare night in our history; potentially completely unique, in fact, because of the context. Hopefully there's plenty more epic wins to come but that night was a crescendo of everything that had come before it. We'd killed the bad guy and that was the night we got the girl.
  13. TNS could get something from this. They're not doing the Wimbledon thing.

    The Other 18

Just wish there was a bit more common sense. Intent can be factored in, certainly, but it blows my mind the stuff people are being sent off for this season. Where 23/24 had farcical injury times and one guy in the technical area, it seems 24/25's contribution to the gallery of unnecessary quirks is sending people off for fuck all. Wonder what next season will bring? I understand the motives behind some initiatives but constantly we're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Truly loathe how dominated the game is by refereeing.

Absolutely right that that farcical decision got rescinded but the inconsistency is stark. Schär is a fair example because it categorically wasn't a red card offence according to the rules about violent conduct or serious foul play*. It should have been overturned by VAR or rescinded. It's infuriating that we're burdened with VAR and yet it doesn't intervene on incidents like these. *
  16. That has definitely been edited. Still, that sounds potentially decent. I'd happily roll the dice on anything original at this point.
  17. Saw it from 75 mins or so, typically dreary low tempo affair against a team that (understandably) came to hang on as long as possible before rolling the dice. Meh, nowt to be gleaned, onwards to Chelsea.
  18. Am I missing something there or does the scoop begin and end at "there will be a unique twist"?
  19. I was open minded towards the new format but it's taken one round of it for me to realise it's garbage.

    St James' Park

Think that's a fair assumption. There's a direct quote from a 'spokesperson' so clearly the piece has gone out with the club's blessing. Alternatively could just be a bit of a can-kicker to fend off frustrations for a bit longer, rather than a water-tester.
