  1. If this isn't enough to avoid a points deduction, man. Hopefully it's as near as dammit and we can shift a less crucial player (Anderson?) to make up the shortfall.
  2. Christ I've got a spring in me step now like. I've been an utter misery all fucking day with that Gordon stuff. I'm not convinced there was no truth to those stories but I'm very fucking happy that it's Minteh on his way instead. Ashworth's reputation spiking a bit as well, mind... this is incredible business
  3. Think of it as Brighton buying him from Odense but we got a shitload of cash as facilitators.
  4. Eh? We signed Barnes a year ago, what's that got to do with it? We were never seeing Minteh in a Newcastle shirt. Take the incredible windfall and forget him.
  5. In all honesty, I'm a bit dubious that we've planted fake news stories about Isak and Gordon to stave off any angst about selling Minteh. Do the non-nerds even know about him? Seems more likely that we anticipated getting business done in the form of the DCL thing (or peddling Bruno?) That fell through, we panicked, but Brighton saved the day.
  6. If that's literally all there was to it then they really needn't have put me through the ringer. Everyone should have known full well why we signed Minteh in the first place.
  7. Ridiculous opportunity for England in this half of the draw like. They probably wouldn't even need to improve that much to get to the final.

    Anthony Elanga

Would anyone, right now, accept no transfers if it meant there were no outgoings? I'd snap your hand off at this point. Tonali returning, injured players coming back, Hall getting into the groove, maybe Minteh would contribute. Wouldn't be so bad imo.

    Anthony Elanga

"... Meanwhile, Newcastle are in talks with Nottingham Forest over a potential deal for winger Anthony Elanga that could see Elliot Anderson go in the opposite direction."
  10. What does "muddy PSR compliance" mean? How does leaking fake news items change how much we've spent over the last three years?
  11. True but he did have a good season. Five goals and nine assists in a poor team, and only 22. Would be a fun link if it wasn't juxtaposed next to a story about Gordon going to Liverpool.
  12. Can't describe how gutted I'd be if Gordon left, never mind to fucking Liverpool. It's absolutely horrible atm, like. If him or Isak left it's enough to make you want to give up on the game. There's no way on earth we should be forced into that.
  13. "Meanwhile, Newcastle are in talks with Nottingham Forest over a potential deal for winger Anthony Elanga that could see Elliot Anderson go in the opposite direction." From Hope in the Gordon to Liverpool article.
  14. Definitely. His sub that game was a turning point in the season too.
  15. Not an original point but fuck I absolutely loved that goal. Among the squad I think he's got quite a unique technique in how he strikes the ball; just hits it so clean and true, and that strike was the perfect example. It went over but he pinged one against Blackburn in the cup which was similar in how it absolutely flew. Looking forward to seeing more of him next season. Optimistic that he'll have a good one.
  16. In a weird way I feel that it helped them last year. Seemed like such a toxic atmosphere there, bit like it was here with Ashley and Bruce, the points deduction seemed to give the supporters something external to channel their anger against instead. Nothing brings people together like giving them a common enemy Everton were terrible last season though, fully mired in the relegation skirmish until the bottom three eventually cut themselves loose. My point (which Nobody quoted) was more about the off-the-field stuff. PSR, etc, is distracting/tedious enough without your own club being among the main cast of characters.
  17. Totally. For all I totally sympathise with the defiance of accepting a points deduction with both middle fingers raised, I can't face a season played out to the backdrop of a tedious and distracting legal wrangle that gets discussed every pre-game, every post-game, every comms, every presser, every thread of the forum, yada yada yada. Fuck - quite literally - that noise.
  18. We'll agree to disagree. My view is absolutely take the money and fend off the PSR bullshit for another accounting year. Would rather play their game and still beat the cunts than let them have their points deductions. [This view obviously changes depending on the individual subject of the sale...]
  19. Exactly. If he goes on to have a good career, then us living with the regret of that not happening in a Newcastle shirt is the collateral damage you take when playing this game. But ultimately he was never ours.
  20. Tbh I honestly don't get how anyone can be that arsed. If he goes to Brighton then it's basically a transfer of a random player from one random club to another random club, except somehow Newcastle United gets £30million. It's a complete lottery win. I get that he's in a position where, if we massively upgraded, we'd could potentially kick on. But he's a total unknown quantity. No evidence at all to suggest he's that upgrade. As for why we can't keep all three, well we know the answer to that.
