  1. Interesting kits. Pinstripes always feels very lower-league to me but they're definitely nice kits. Debatable as to whether the badge is big enough.
  2. What are the top 5 goals scored by Newcastle defenders?
  3. Honestly can't think of a more pretentious voice in all of football media than Jonathan Liew.
  4. Shame. Would've loved for England to dick Portugal in the final.
  5. It's such an odd channel, that. I enjoy it because it's about football kits and they're earnest about it, which I appreciate, but I find some of their opinions strange and undeveloped (particularly Craig). He was absolutely in love with that basic bitch German away kit for no explicable reason.

You can justify your arrogance if you've got that amount of talent but I still find it unlikeable. The stuff post-Slovakia isn't the end of the world of course but it is very cringe given how fortunate England were. It's unpleasant but not worthy of a ban imo.

    Find Bellingham very unlikeable.
  8. Honestly can't believe anyone who's watched a lot of Anderson can see him being worth £35m, and I say that as someone who liked him. He's neat and tidy and can move with the ball but has never looked like setting the world alight, never looks like scoring and is injury prone. The mad goalie coming the other way shows it's clearly an unorthodox deal (if not in the context of this summer).
  9. Aye hopefully not. For the record I've absolutely no issue with us finding loopholes and creative ways to get around a set of rules that are, at best, flawed and, at worst, unfair. Speaking of Ornstein; clearly the guy is as well-connected and reliable as can be when it comes to gossip but fuck me he talks like a right knob. Some of those Athletic podcasts are a grueling listen when they're essentially just having a pretend conversation; taking it in turns to read their recently penned articles. Some of them are better at it than others but his deliberate 'erms' - as if he can't find the word for 'Arsenal' - to make it sound more natural make me want to cave the speaker in.
  10. Steady on. I always liked Anderson but the fee is obscene, whilst coincidentally also being just high enough to rescue us from the PSR abyss. You could argue that spending that amount on a complete unknown quantity like Gray is more explicable than spending it on someone who's played loads but shown little evidence that they're gonna reach the top. If there's a mechanism to scrutinise the deal - if not FMV, then something else - would anyone be surprised if it happened? Ornstein said as much on that podcast the other day.
  11. All of that is true but I can't believe the Anderson transfer passed the scrutiny of a fair market value test. I've a hunch that we might not have heard the last about that deal, particularly with that random goalie coming the other way. Such is the determination to make an example of us.
  12. I pretty much agree- I don't think we need to add a lot to be competitive because the bones of a top four side is already there. But with year 1 falling off, PSR resolved and cashing-in on the likes of Miggy - they may have identified this summer as the time to go big and invest heavily. Difficult to predict but I wouldn't be surprised if the squad looks quite different come September with new players all over the shop.

Yeah, this. Obviously anything commercial would be disappointing but I've accepted that everything about football is generally just worse now, so the disassociation with Ashley is almost good enough on its own. Will shout out for the dozenth time that I'd like to see the text reinstated with a neutral font, and the four badges emblazoned (two) either side of the text, with the letters backlit.
  14. Think you've nailed it. Only thing missing I'd say is player fatigue.

Agree, I just think that's the intended approach, effectiveness notwithstanding.
  16. The time is right for him to go but he has been a very good player for us and, on top of that, an absolute diamond of a bloke who has represented us tremendously well. He'll be incredibly undeserving of the inevitable disrespect that will accompany any sale. Wish him the absolute best for the rest of his career. Hopefully makes a mint over there before moving back to real football, where I'm sure he'll serve another club well.
  17. If we sign a significant upgrade at RW then we're looking at one of the deadliest attacks in the league, so naturally it would be heartbreaking if he left. There no onus on us to sell now, by all accounts, so it would come down to the player itching to move. I'd be very disappointed if he was twisting due to whatever happened over the weekend; he's worshipped by the fans and has all the trust and loyalty in the world from his manager, so I don't think he could convince me that he doesn't feel valued here.
  18. Yeah enjoyed his interview. Comes across very professional and sincere. You'd assume that something has gone wrong if he ends up seeing the pitch, but certainly no qualms about having people like that in the dressing room.

That is absolutely sensational news. Delighted.
