This season and last both provide a great demonstration of how this intangible thing very much exists in football. Last season was full steam ahead; all the bumps were minor and we weaved around them with mostly minimal fuss. This season we've been juddering ever since December punched our lights out. Even if 6th and 7th doesn't happen, our last four games are Sheffield, Burnley, Brighton and Brentford. Huge opportunity there to finish the season with a bit of momentum and feel-good factor going into the summer.

According to some.

Coventry vs Man Utd Chelsea vs Man City
-
Still at it with the 'farewell tour'. Fair play to ManU, totally deserved that.
-
christ. I can't stand Man Utd but thank fuck for this. Fuck Liverpool.
-
Would've been a brilliant assist from Rashford, that. Good game but sat here fewmin'. Just want it to be us.
-
As are we in this instance...
-
Maddening that for all Chelsea have been a total mess this season, they've still gone the distance in the cup competitions. Two from Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool for the final then. Fascinating.
-
Why would you be?
-
After the last international break we battered Chelsea, won/drew in Paris and beat ManU with the best performance of the season.
-
If anyone's for any fresh conclusions after today then good luck to you.
-
I think it had the potential to be. First goal killed it. It's not good but that's where we're at atm; we've nowhere near the required quality or mentality to overturn a deficit at the Etihad.
-
Just a total non-event, really. We made a couple of mistakes early doors, they got a bit of fortune, and that was that. They were able to do their tiki-taka defensive game - which they're absolutely impeccable at - and that was job done. Far too good for a flawed team with incredibly brittle confidence.
-
We started the game brightly. For all we apply ourselves well, we're mentally fragile and the first goal dropped the heads.
-
Botman off injured, finally some good news

Another chance squandered

Lascelles is a disaster when it comes to working in tight spaces. It's like his feet are too big to control the ball.
-
Hall, Miley, Anderson and Almiron on.
-
For all City demonstrate truly obscene levels of control in possession, it's matched out of it, too. They're incredibly effective at minimising the space for the opposition team; swarming the man on the ball, cutting passing lanes. They're just a complete team.
-
Isak and Gordon on opposite sides this half.
-
As we were. Cannot get on the ball at all.
-
Yep, continues to be an immense loss to this team.
