Of all the many gripes about the club, I never really hear or see anything about the stadium. For all it's got that dearth of architectural character you associate with a lot of modern stadiums (and the location is crap), I think there's a general pride in having what is a genuinely high quality facility, befitting a club performing much better than the current one. There's a crop of young fans who build the atmosphere nicely too, but sadly let themselves down with regular anti-social behaviour. Removing it from the community makes it an absolute arse to get to from the centre, which is rubbish and easily the worst thing about it, but the ground itself is canny and I think people like it. BTW, I lived (literally) next to Bootham Crescent for a year or so but grew up outside of York.

They've really turned it around, thankfully. Three wins on the bounce has put daylight between them and the drop zone at the best possible time. More than 7500 there today, including 2k+ away fans. Brilliant win against the recently-crowned Champions.

Yeah I don't see it as an outright negative; there are solid arguments for both keeping and selling. I'd be very sad to see him go because he's a truly wonderful player and he's got that magical attribute of 'getting the club'. But selling players at the right time (for the greater good) is something that literally every well-functioning outfit does. I don't think it would reflect poorly on the club at all if we traded him in for a monstrous fee; likewise if we told everyone to get lost and the player was happy to stick around, even better.

If that's all there is to it (re Howe's quotes) then I'm struggling to see past it being a bit of a shit-show in terms of managing the situation. Doesn't reflect well on wor Eddie imo but hopefully there's more to it than simply letting the player utterly knacker himself.

The prospect of him leaving is pretty likely really so it's an unavoidable thought. I don't think it's small time; it's just the grimness of the football food chain (and PSR), plus the reality that the player has probably grown faster than the club. I still have some hope that we'll get at least another season out of him, but I think the club will feel quite inclined to cash in. I think his cash value is peaking right now because he'll be 27 next season and, tbh, the lad could very well burn out soon given the sheer amount of football he plays, both here and at international level. Man City would probably be a good move for his career cos he'll still be a regular starter but not utterly depended on. Fwiw, I adore the guy and would love for him to stay but I think he's more replaceable than say Isak. You can replace Bruno more affordably and with tactical adaptations... but world class strikers are as rare as rocking horse shit for clubs not routinely in the CL.

This was always coming; as is being said, the only thing worth a thought is whether or not his ban is extended. Truly outrageous if it is, like.

Nothing, he's 0 for 2 in terms of winning a competition where there was a realistic chance of doing so. But that doesn't mean he isn't the most successful manager in generations; getting to the Euros final is statistically the best achievement of any manager since '66. I've never, ever bought the favourable draws angle and never will. Anyone can beat anyone at that level, and England have historically underachieved - until Southgate, where we've performed at Par or better. Not to mention we were knocked out by Iceland the competition before he came in.

What an absolutely brilliant and optimistic read that was. After a lot of downbeat stories this year, that was a timely reminder that the club is a thousand times better than the festering footballing cesspit it was pre-takeover. I loved all of that but found the 'football adjacent' stuff particularly interesting. Stories like the Greenwood case really amplify the responsibility on clubs to ensure that young footballers are nurtered into becoming decent human beings too.

The gear is looking absolutely banging though personally I don't love the texture, certainly as it appears on the home. Makes it look like a cricket jumper. Having recently deviated from DHGate to picking up cheap genuines off Vinted, you can tell the difference been fakes and the manufacture-made ones, and tbh I'd love to pick one of those aways up. But the prices are an utter, utter disgrace. For all they're better than the fakes, they're not £60/70 better. They're worth £40 at the absolute limit. Absolute scandal. Winds me up no end.

Playing someone who's carrying an injury is one thing; playing someone who is likely to completely rupture their ACL is another. I'm sure if he had the knowledge that that was a very real possibility, he wouldn't have played him.

It's stupid to level anything at Howe, like. His team selections are clearly evidence-based. If the evidence is unreliable or incorrect, that's not his fault. It's a pity that - for all the good Howe's done - it isn't enough to earn the assumption (from some) that he won't play someone if there's a demonstrable risk that it'll cause a career-jeopardising injury. Re the injury, I think it's possible that there's been an oversight somewhere, but it's equally possible that it's genuinely just a peculiar case and the lad has been unfortunate. That thing about some specialists thinking he'd ruptured it and some thinking he hadn't just seems absolutely wild to me. I find it incredible that such a thing can be misdiagnosed, which supports the view that it's a really weird case. There is also the less belligerent reason, and it's an entirely fresh injury.
