Mad how people go on like Dan Burn wasn't one fifth of the best defensive unit I've ever seen at NUFC. Aye Livramento is more skilful and has different qualities, but I've no gripes at all if Burn comes back in when he's fit. It alleviates pressure on Trippier too.

I would absolutely love for us to progress; it would be a magnificent achievement for the club to have made it through this group having vanquished PSG especially. Besides, why bother being here at all if we're not gonna yearn to go as far as possible? Of course we're not gonna win the thing (having reviewed my opinion on this in recent weeks ) but fuck it, there's still some unreal memories left to make during this campaign. Of that I'm absolutely certain.

Caught up with MotD and, viewing it with the emotional dust having settled somewhat, quite enjoyed Micah Richards' analysis of the full-backs. I thought Udogie was excellent at the time and clearly he was; this tactic of shunting the full-backs into centre-mid in possession is really interesting. Fair play to Spurs, really; outdone us everywhere (assisted by our levels obviously) and they really exploited our weaknesses. We'll shit em at St James' like.

What changes is the fact that the players who faced you yesterday aren't absolutely dead on their feet. It's not so much about hypothetical changes to the personnel, goalkeeper aside. I don't agree that with a fully fit squad we definitely beat you, mind. You're an entirely different outfit to the one we truly annihilated last season. Even a half-fit Son is an incredible opponent when he's full of confidence. You are wrong about Tripps, incidentally. He's been mostly exceptional defensively; he's far more than just a dead ball specialist.

It's a huge shame we're going into this in awful form, low on confidence and dead on our feet. I've no idea what expectations we're supposed to have of these players at this point; it'll take an immense performance to get a result but I dunno if they've got it in them, and there's no shame on them for that. The goalkeeper situation means we're basically playing with a handicap too. Then again it's entirely plausible that form goes out of the window and we conjure another historic occasion.

Never mind, lads. Remember that it makes the wins all the more sweeter. We're a great team on a hell of a journey. There'll be plenty of bumps like this one along the way.
