  1. Was a very brief clip during a montage about somethingorother.
  2. They're really cool; I think Castore have real, genuine talent among their artists/designers. Stuff like that has the potential to be 'iconic' but, like the kits themselves, they just don't stand a chance because the manufacturer shits out a million-and-one designs over the course of a year, meaning nothing has a chance to stand on its own.
  3. Yeah it barely looks like a Newcastle kit there. Unsurprisingly it was a thousand times better back in the day before kits went to shit.
  4. Youth team wearing black and white with white shorts.
  5. Good news but no Fletch means no Macca which means possible Savage... Can't move for fucking shit commentators these days like.
  6. Always a potential obstacle but he's hardly the first player to enter the league without knowing the language. He'll learn and eventually adapt.
  7. I don't think we'll ever be high enough in the food chain to prevent the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid signing our players. Probably several others; Man City, Bayern, PSG. Even Liverpool couldn't keep Coutinho.
  8. Tbh I don't see why whether or not the ball could be kept in is relevant. It's why it's especially galling for Brentford, but I don't think it means it isn't a foul. What sort of precedent would that be?
  9. I would have had virtually no excitement for this if we hadn't got a positive result yesterday. As it happens, a real weight has been lifted, and their terrible result will give our players an additional lift too. I really hope we don't approach it like we approached the League Cup final. We're not beneath this competition at all. Maccabi Haifa beat Juventus last season; Sheriff Tiraspol won in the Bernebeu the year before. No need for any pre-match poems and acting like this tournament only belongs to half a dozen or so teams.
  10. Just watching the extended highlights; there was plenty of good stuff, like. Barnes involved in an awful lot of it so I really hope he keeps his place. For all the front three were a new combination, they all contributed significantly to the goal. Think Wilson's performance is almost being a bit underrated on here; thought he was absolutely exceptional. He held up every high ball, came deep with good effectiveness, the penalty was emphatic and he had a proper swagger after his goal. A proper leader's performance and, tbh, everything Isak wasn't against Brighton.

  13. He definitely bought it, like. Punished the keeper for making a risky call to come out. One of those that you're absolutely fuming to give away but I don't think it's the wrong decision. If you just default to the 'anywhere else on the pitch' position I feel like you can't really argue. Our cunt.
  14. Deserves a bump. Thought he was really good and some of his defensive contributions were proper classy. Still going strong, the lad. His performance levels have basically never dropped since he got here, as far as I can recall.
  15. I'm convinced it was Covid like Could well have been. I suppose there's actually a very important caveat re his dependability, I.e. "when he's on the pitch." Obviously he's actually been the exact opposite of dependable for not-insignificantly long stretches.
  16. Can't believe it's taken us this long to have this debate! Isak is the most talented since Shearer but it's basically impossible at this point to claim anyone else has contributed more than Wilson. The guy has been incredibly dependable; that spell last season was (thankfully) an aberration.

    Harvey Barnes

Very much hope we see plenty of him and Gordon in those positions. The latter, in particular, has the pace, wriggliness and the neat footwork to settle on either wing imo, and I rated Barnes' ball-carrying today. If they both start building connections with teammates it could be quite saucy; there's a lot of talent there.
  18. Didn't think it was a bad performance at all tbh. The team was a bit put-together with a new forward line plus Anderson and a rusty Longstaff, but Brentford (who are good) were hardly in it and we deserved the win. We weren't super creative but there was some nice football and lots of good individual performances. Thought Barnes and Gordon both put in good shifts.
  19. Yeah. Individually I don't think he was brilliant (aside from that class ball to Barnes) but aye, the midfield was so much more balanced today. Bruno, Joe and Tonali has a truckload of quality but Christ knows there's been no meaningful structure the last couple times they played.
