  1. aye. A mackem mate told me that. If something happens to it, he only has himself to blame. which clothes shop is that then? Anyone know? Not that I`m going to put the windows through
  2. isn`t Neill on megabucks wages though at West Ham? Not sure if he`d be happy to accept a reduction in salary unless we`re stupid enough (again) to match it. As I and others have said in another thread, would much rather have Finnan here for 1m
  3. just going by today`s BBC column.......wouldn`t mind taking Givet on loan and Finnan for 1m which would solve our full back problems.....apparently could be off to Blackburn and Hull for 1m respectively
  4. apparently made an enquiry about Olivier Dacourt....... --- Published Date: 14 January 2009 Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has made a move for former Leeds United midfielder Olivier Dacourt, the player's agent has confirmed. Bruno Satin, the player's representative, says a return to the Premier League is an option, with Newcastle also said to have inquired about him. Redknapp watched Inter's game against Genoa on Tuesday night and reports have claimed he flew to Italy to sign striker Adriano. But Dacourt is no longer needed by Inter boss Jose Mourinho and Spurs, as well as the Magpies, have emerged as possible destinations for the Frenchman. Dacourt, 34, has only appeared once in the Italian league this season. Satin told Setanta.com: "Tottenham have enquired about Olivier and it would be a nice option. "Newcastle have also taken information about him." The former Leeds and Everton player told L'Equipe: "I have set a deadline regarding my future. I have plenty of contacts everywhere, in Italy, England, Spain, but I prefer to wait for the moment. "My kids go to school in Milan; as a consequence I'm not going to just do whatever. I have plenty of options, too many in fact, and you have pros and cons at every club." http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/football/Spurs-and-Magpies-in-for.4876777.jp
  5. how long has be been out of contract for? Since the summer or just recently? Bit strange for a contract to finish in December unless Schalke just released him early
  6. One of the stranger things you'll find in sports media. According to an article in eurosport.com, Kaka is actually a back-up option if Man City's bid for Bellamy isn't accepted. If City fail to get Bellamy, they will settle for Kaka as their second choice. The Daily Express reports that chief executive Gary Cook has flown to Italy to open face-to-face negotiations with Milan about bringing in the not-half-bad Brazilian. City will smooth the move by waiting until summer, and are reportedly willing to set a new world record transfer fee. http://eurosport.yahoo.com/13012009/...lamy-kaka.html
  7. I highly doubt it, he`s been a regular for them and they turned down a $10 million offer him in Dec. Don`t think they would let him come to us on loan for 400k
  8. actually Bayern recently said he`s available on loan hmmm http://www.goal.com/en/news/592/bayern-munich/2008/12/17/1015866/bayern-to-ship-out-jose-ernesto-sosa
  9. ..... why? Its what tomorrows Times thinks... It`s what JFK has been quoted as saying "There are two midfield players, one Argentine, one Italian. The loan fees for them are £350,000 and £400,000 until the end of the season because we weren’t in a position to pay what their clubs wanted to buy them.” http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article5511574.ece Don`t think it`s a swoop for Riquelme or Battaglia in terms of the Argie though
  10. Benfica striker Ariza Makukula, 27, is poised to join West Brom on loan until the end of the season pending the outcome of a medical. (Press Association, 1113 GMT)
  11. knowing us, whilst we`re fannying about taking our time to decide whether or not to sign him.........he`ll end up doing a Zayatte and sign for another club
  12. I remember replying to a similar thread a while back on another forum about this topic. I wish more English players would be more adventurous to go abroad.....it makes the player`s game better IMO. Anyways.... 1. You do not see people in general from Britain move abroad except US, Australia etc. Why? the language. We are such an ignorant nation that we cannot live anywhere that doesnt speak english or have a big english community. 2. English players skills in the technical Spanish, Italian and to a lesser extent German league means they are not necessarily in great demand. 3. Players will not be considered as strongly if playing abroad - beckham is a ridiculous exception - for the england team. Actually there are some other players not mentioned on here - one is Cherno Samba (remember the hype?) plays for FC Haka in the Finnish league. Was an England youth intl aye....here`s a short article about him.... . Serie A has an English player in its ranks, although unless you are from Newcastle and have a keen interest in that club’s academy, you’ll have missed the roundabout way Kris Thackray has made it as a professional. Thackray is 20 and has a contract with Reggina, a top-flight team from a city roughly between the toe and the stiletto heel of the Italian peninsula. He has captained their reserve team and is spending the first half of this season on loan with a Serie C club, common practice for a player of his age in Italy, and given that his Serie C borrowers are from Naples, this is likely to be a sound crash course in street-wisdom. Thackray has already been around the block. Released by Newcastle at 16 “for being too short”, says his father Alan, by 17 he had grown to more than 6ft, had enrolled at Gateshead College, and, playing for the England Colleges XI, had a good enough game on a tour in Italy to attract the attention of Reggina. There, they converted Thackray the midfielder into a centre-half and he has “the sort of one-on-one coaching I never knew in England”, he says. So far so good. Tyneside's loss, Italy’s gain.

  14. Not that unbelievable.......Cologne are his hometown club
  15. Except Honduras is in central America Surprised how easily the 2 Hondurans made the step from the Honduran league to the `mighty` premier league so easily.......been class for them along with Valencia. They`ve just bought a Colombian player also recently and by all accounts he looks canny Just goes to show that there are good players everywhere as long as you're willing to look for them. I wonder who's doing Wigan's scouting? our former scout believe it or not, Wes Saunders Bruce said about Zaki: " "I was recommended him by Wes Saunders, the former Newcastle scout, and that's where it started. A lot of people mocked me but I went out there and saw him score two and I had no hesitation" Most clubs are put off because of W/P problems & wait until the have EU status. and the theory that South Americans aren`t suited to the EPL as it`s too physical for them, don`t like the weather, lazy etc........but seems in the last 2 seasons or so premier league clubs have become a little more `adventurous` buying from there finally.

    Jason Culina

I think he was fairly regular with PSV .....so surprised no one has bothered to sign him since he was released by PSV a good while back.
  20. http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/nechronical/jan2009/8/9/B0BA7FE7-0CC4-AFDE-9072D91E66260F85.jpg SHOLA AMEOBI has committed his future to Newcastle United until 2012. And today Ameobi has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by Joe Kinnear. The 27-year-old said: "Getting fit and playing games is all I wanted to do. It had been a while since I was able to do that. "But it’s testament to the physios and medical staff for the work they’ve done for me. "Also the manager Joe Kinnear came in and put a lot of faith in me. "I hadn’t played for a while and had to prove myself again. Thankfully, I believe I did that. "Now I can look forward to playing a lot more games for Newcastle which didn’t look likely a few months ago. "And now my future is in order I can focus on getting it right on the pitch. "I am confident I can do it, and the club are also in the fact they have shown faith with the contract. "Now it’s down to me to prove that. "The aim for the future is to stay fit and play games on a regular basis. "Then show the form I produced earlier this season." Ameobi has scored some vital goals in his time in Toon in both the Champions League and the UEFA Cup, while he netted the crucial goal in 2004 at Anfield in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool to secure a place in Europe. Shola also backheeled the ball to Alan Shearer on the day he overtook Wor Jackie as all-time top scorer of Newcastle. Ameobi will miss the weekend’s game with West Ham with an ankle injury, but Kinnear is hoping he returns in time for the trip to Blackburn Rovers. Meanwhile, Kinnear has revealed his frustration in the transfer window. United are believed to be keen on Pedro Mendes at Rangers and still interested in Gers skipper Barry Ferguson. But Kinnear says: "We have not made any progress in terms of signing anybody. "And we haven’t had any offers for any of the fringe players available for transfer." http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/01/07/shola-ameobi-signs-new-newcastle-united-deal-72703-22629012/2/

  22. sacked midway through the season (unluckly i thought). Then Brian Kidd took over and went down. I've always rated Hodgson, seems like a nice guy too. He also got them to a UEFA Cup place in his first season with Blackburn too. He`s an underrated manager IMO and has had the balls to take on jobs abroad unlike most British managers and has way more knowledge about players abroad than your average British coach. Didn`t do too badly with Inter Milan either getting them to the UEFA Cup final (Inter were not as good then nor did they have the star players as they do now)
