For me it's simple. Pardew is bottling the biggest descision of his career at Newcastle. Play HBA and shift the mediocrity to the bench.

Obertan won't be dropped cause Pardew likes the fact he can run up the other end fast. What else can it be??

Like he had a choice with Demba, man. Demba Ba is by a mile the most proven goalscorer in the squad. And he'd demonstrated excellent suitability to English football. I never said he wasn't, he's absolute quality. So's Ben Arfa though and he won't show it if he's used fleetingly and only against the best three teams in the country. He needs a run of games and he needs to feel Pardew believes in him. It looks to me like both counts are lacking and I really don't see the reasoning behind that. Maybe Pardew is so glued to his 442 he simply won't accomodate HBA on a regular basis. If this is the case one of the purest footballers we've ever had will leave. It seems peculiar he played in the three hardest games of the season and games like today against a workmanlike and basically average side where he would get more space and time HE DOESN'T EVEN COME OFF THE BENCH.

Pardew will never drop him. that means hes dropped then. I'm giving it my best shot.

to be fair i remember on a few occasions he did get the ball and dribbled up field having absolutely no one near him to pass to, i thought to myself , where is our movement, fair enough i gave him the benefit of the doubt, but alot of other times when he had space to pass to another teamate that was vacant he just kept onto the ball far too long and lost it. right now he is what a call a luxury player, he can dazzle and have some moments but most of the time he's just a liability, my biggest complaint with him is his lack of conviction when it comes to tracking back, he does try to run back and get into positions to cover, but then he shirks away from 50/50 challenges, like a little girly man, there's no place for that in the premier league, you need courage and agression to survive in this league. you know what? obertan is your typical arsene wenger type of player. quick, fast, dazzling at time, love the one-twos, love to dribble, but cant cross to save their lives and no final ball, big pansy when it comes to physical challenges, and mentally vulnerable. didn't see the game today but he heard he missed a massive chance to set up an unmarked ba and his defensive work often seem better at home. Decided to take on 3 players instead. Which is strange as he never ever ever takes anyone on....Bottled at least 3 tackles and misplaced his usual quota of easy passes. He really is shit.

Totally agree. It's beyond insanity.

Haddaway man you don't leave out a player like him because you're worrying about Norwich. Obertan gives less protection than Laurent Robert did but with the added bonus of having zero talent. Very true, neither HBA or Obertan offer much protection to the fulback, so then its a good idea to go wit the best attacking option, cannot understand why pick Obertan over HBA. Pardew seems to have a real blind spot where Obertan is concerned. Does he look at stats and things?

He's not. He's just crap. He's the concentrated crap bits in the crap.

Poor man's Pancrate Pancrates blind brother.

If I was him I'd put in a transfer request.

Ashley's fault. Cheap squad - no cover.
