Think it will take a few more games before he gets upto speed. You can see he's been out a long time. Still class though even at 80%.
  2. Ha ha...Dalglish looking really bitter at the final whistle.

Should have let him take the last direct fk Raylor took. Would have scored.
  4. Needs dropping. No thread again today, plus the added negative of giving the ball away and not running back.
  5. You can see why Mourinho really rated him.
  6. A very good result against a side that will finish top 4. Guti MOM for me. Obertan zero threat and gives the ball away a lot.
  7. Didn't see the goal, so what happened? Adam dived for the free kick which Gerrard Scored from through a man u fuck up in the wall Plus Man U had the 'B' team out for most of the match.
  8. The Football Association says it will investigate claims from Manchester United defender Patrice Evra that he was racially abused by Liverpool forward Luis Suarez. Evra says the incident occurred in Saturday's 1-1 draw between the teams. A Liverpool spokesman said Suarez "categorically denied" the allegation. An FA statement read: "Referee Andre Marriner was made aware of an allegation at the end of the fixture and has reported this to the FA." It added: "The FA will now begin making enquiries into the matter." Evra was quoted as telling French TV station Canal Plus: "There are cameras, you can see him [suarez] say a certain word to me at least 10 times." The game at Anfield ended 1-1 after Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard's free-kick was cancelled out by Javier Hernandez's late header for United. Bang out of order. Big fine, apology, 5 match ban. Nice.
  9. Agreed. They'll never get the votes they need from the other clubs to get this through anyway. Also, it would be tricky threatening a break away league...Who are they gonna play, each other 6 times??
  10. Zen and the art of being Paul Gascoigne.
  11. it's been Mike Ashley's plan all along, he saw the long game when others only saw the short - wait 'til sky collapses ala ITV and clubs start going bust, we'll be top of the shitpile probably only going to take another decade of appeals and shit for it to kick in like, but he'll be right in the end It will collapse all the signs are there. The EU is all about encouraging competition and fair play.
  12. Players paid less, tv and tickets cheaper. Always a good thing to encourage competition and stop price fixing. Totally agree.
  13. Anything that stops the players demanding insane wages is good news.
  14. Basically it was a very even game that as the clock wound down Liv might have lost but for the ridiculous sending off.
  15. Hopefully Pards has learnt something about being outnumbered in midfield.

Both are good players, but doing it regularly in the PL is another thing. From the little I've seen of Bafra I think he can. Not seen enough of Marv.

I understand what you mean but it depend what kind of football you want. When you speak about PL managers fearings, sorry but we can take Redknapp for example - I'm not even talking about Sir Alex - I don't think he would hesitate between Marveaux and Jonas, or HBA and Best - with all my respects to Jonas and Best Newcastle this season has all the ability to play beautiful football and everybody know that you have more chances to win if you play well, in the opponent's camp. I agree we have already seen the glimpses when Bafra and Marv were on the pitch together. Think the first thing you have to understand is that the PL is the most crucially 'results based' league in the world, there is week in week out pressure and a bad run of 3/4 games and managers jobs come under scrutiny, it is a mad league in many ways like this. It is also a fast and more aggressive league in which for 80% of the teams pretty football comes a far second to winning the next match (because in recent years any one of the bottom 10 sides can get drawn into relegation battles). Secondly this Newcastle side we see unfolding is still in development and naturally over time I believe the more gifted players will find a way into the side (Bafra for one is one of the most gifted players in the world and was considered on the same level as Nasri and Benzema only a few years ago). Where we are right now is 'winning games' and consolidating and also finding out a few things about players like Best and Cabaye (postive things). It will come down to what is truly in Pardoo's heart ultimately (and he knows good football is possible for this side, we've already seen spells of it). There will be a time when this side is cogent as a PL outfit and IMO that will be the start of the new phase if we can keep the team together. I think we will see some of that this year (as confidence grows) but I have a feeling as you do that there is another 'better way' within this squad and at some pont we'll have to give it a try. But for now (the next few months) Pardoo will be more results focused and rightly so. That's not to say a more fluid passing side with Marv and Bafra starting won't end up being the ultimate goal.

I agree changes to this team will probably only happen when we lose, it would take a brave manager to change a winning team. I think Spurs will be a step too far for one or two players who are currently holding down a first team place so Ben Arfa/Marveaux and Santon will be knocking on the door soon in any case. I'd start Santon against Spurs anyway, but you're right Pardoo will be conservative about changing a 'winning team'.

There's always a little bit of fear in PL managers of playing 'too many' luxury/gifted players in the PL. For now because Marv and Bafra aren't fully fit there is a kind of excuse (but they need games soon), but later there will still be the tendency of hardworking players getting preferance over purer footballers. In other words it will be hard for Marveux to shift Guti in the short term and Pardoo will be reticent about dropping one of the 'big men' strikers for Bafra (till we lose a few games/injuries anyway). The good thing about the current situation is that in certain postions really good players are waiting in the wings.
  20. Might be a thread about that somewhere.
