He's a wheeler dealer, most of them are like that ie hardnosed etc...Bit coarse. It's a hard game for his type and they have to be prepared to mix it. Some can get a bit nasty and these kind of comments are not needed.

It's just as important that we get value for money, outspending others is no good if you've got somebody like Souness doing the spending, I trust Keegan to get it right more than I would trust most others, it's not just spending, it's getting value for money and his track-record here is second to none. goes without saying, everybody makes mistakes with signings but at the end of the day if you don't buy a ticket you won't win the raffle There isn't a manager out there who hasn't bought duff players. One in three is a reasonable ratio.

I'm absolutely certain that KK has it in him. He is the lone marshall walking down the dusty town center with a wet cigar. His big strength is that he is very creative in his thinking.

Owen needs to be on a 6 now James baby.

Nah, we'd be 13th. We are 18th when it comes down to positive play which correlates to the quality of football played. Eh? I thought this was the kicking people list.

Our score is down to Nicky Butt. 17 yellows and Alain Smithinho.

Sadly this is the case atm, but it goes in cycles.

Even just in this thread. We both know KK was a massive gamble and the timing of the appointment was precarious yet you like me are wanting to be proved wrong. If that makes sense? *Examples? Wtf!

What I said and this as well. Very cynical IMO. And I'm cynical as fuck. Nah. You've softened a lot Dave over the last couple of years.

...and people saying he isn't a tactician need also to point out this is a relative statement. It's not like he knows nothing about football is it?

Can you give me the lotto number as well? Your crystal ball gazing seems to be quite good... What I find funny is that over a long time the media and other fans are labelling Newcastle fans as fickle and too demanding. Then a manager comes people actually trust in and now it's other people branding him right from the start or at least after a couple of weeks already as failure and wrong appointment. Nobody knows if it's going to work out (again). But there wouldn't have been any guarantees with other managers as well. People also need to consider he might be a lot stronger mentally now.

You're being a bit too negative for my liking. He will make us competitive again I have no doubts. Winning things is harder now...So what? so what? if he couldn't win things before with a transfer budget comparable to anyone in the league, i seriously doubt he will win anything now Football doesn't work like that. Anyone in the top 8 (and beyond) in the current standing have the ability to win something. Spurs a case in point.

The main thing is that KK is a special person and there aren't many like that left in football. In many ways the game has become a science with many clubs playing the percentage game, even the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. There are very few teams around the world striving to play pure football, in the PL there is Arsenal and Man Utd in Spain there are a few and in Italy I'd guess none. This is my main excitement with regards to KK, in the sense that he can 'feel' the game, it is in 'his bones' and I have no doubt this club will be playing good football again....This of course is half the battle. The rest will come if money is forthcoming in large chunks.

Stunned. Curious. Excited. Fearful. Talked myself into messiah mode. Concerned for KK himself. Questioned MA's motives. Looking for signs of the old KK. Now.... Not worried and looking forward to next year.

And an insignificant footballer, with the football ability to match his status as a player, in Marc Bosman played a major part in that. A contract today isn't worth the price of the ink ink that was used to pen the zeros that inhabit any contract deal. The Bosman System has played a significant role in the mercenary-attitude among players today - ie. players can jump ship almost when they choose... the uttered word of 'Bosman' by his agent as a trigger/threat is enough for a club to relucantly part ways with an integral & important player who is in-demand elsewhere - and of course the predatory practices of their agents who of course influence & turn the heads of their chargers in the hope of securing more frequent & lucrative commission-based pay-offs down the track. Perhaps the whole agent system needs a fresh look. It seems players signing 5 year deals are only safe for about 2 years which is madness.

2-0. Marteeens to score.

Agreed. On the upside KK is the kind of manager that breeds loyalty in certain types of players.

Can you be quiet for an hour or so? Thanks.

I think this is a core issue that can as previous posters have suggested deliver long term stability and success. Regardless of the performances on the pitch in any one season a long term outlook must continue. I think we have begun to start moving in the right direction regarding that.

I often wonder about Spurs and their wage structure and the other talked about ingredients that often keeps good players at the club rather than agitating for moves every season. Berbatov accepted of course. Chimbonda & Keane also showing great acts of team spirit and unity in recent weeks as well. Think Keane has been a loyal servant imo.
