  1. Doesn't this just encourage more ITK nonsense?
  2. I don't think he's the stand out best player at the club. He's certainly in a bunch of players who are all similar standard e.g Enrique, Jonas, Taylor.
  3. Nah, lot more potential at Villa due to the money available. If Villa are serious about replacing O'Neill then they surely have bigger targets than David Moyes. Realistically who? Foreign will always be a gamble, moyes is probably the best attainable manager with a proven record in this league. I know, I mentioned that in my previous posts in defence of getting rid of O'Neill.

  5. Moyes to Villa? Talk about a sideways step.

I'm sure it's just a problem of adjusting to the pace of the game, just because some players play better in other leagues doesn't make them "shit" if they come here and struggle to make any impact at all.
  7. Neither would I. The animosity towards him yesterday was really surprising. He's lost the spine of the team (not his fault) but failed to even begin replacing it (entirely his fault). Yesterday was a performance straight out of the O'Leary era. Absolutely and utterly lacking in art, in skill and in cohesion. Seems ridiculous to me, you've had two very solid seasons under O'Neill. The progression has always been constant since he arrived, I'm struggling to see how he can be replaced, you've had a poor result on the opening day of the season and clearly expectations are high but I honestly don't think O'Neill leaving is the solution. In terms of activity in the transfer market, I don't really know what's happening (Or what isn't happening) But O'Neill seems like the type of manager who'll sign players who are 'right' for the club, Ashley Young,James Milner,Emile Heskey and John Carew all seem pretty assured business and he's probably a safe guy, he doesn't want to buy players who aren't going to improve the team and will wait till the death until a player does become available, whether that will be too late, I'm not too sure. Our "natural" position is somewhere around 6th. He's got us back to that. He has spent a vast amount of money, but still we have enormous holes in our squad. The main problem is that he can not come to terms with the modern transfer market. He's got a billionaire owner who is willing to write pretty much any cheque he asks him to, yet we've not replaced (or tried to replace) Laursen or Barry. We've got two CBs at the club. We did have three, but we sold him to Bolton a month ago without having a replacement. If you'd watched us play yesterday, you'd understand the general feeling here that the chickens really have come home to roost, and it isn't just about being fickle and complaining about one result, it runs much, much deeper than that. Fair enough. It's easy to gain stereotypes from the outside but I'm not sure this all adds up to O'Neill departing. We've established O'Neill is very naive in the transfer market, this is a definite flaw seen as you've already pointed out that Randy Lerner would be willing to sanction pretty much any deal O'Neill proposed, however, is the only option to get rid of O'Neill in the hope you'll appoint a better manager who has a much better awareness when it comes to bringing in players, it's asking a lot IMO. You talk about the terrible football that coincided with your fall from the top 4, wasn't that kind of inevitable? I'm sure you were delighted with the first two third of the season but realistically did you have the squad to continue that form till the end? I don't think you did, I'd say you were around 3 players short from accomplishing that and the dip in form was always going to happen, how would you be feeling if you had started the season like you ended it and finished it like you started it? Would that have changed your thoughts on the situation?

  9. Played last week, didn't you see Jol's unbiased full match analysis?
  10. If he was secretly any poster on this forum, he'd definitely be Martin Jol.
  11. Looks like he's injured now. Hope not, he's looked a bit special. Both sides look like they did last season; Wigan far better than I expected. Fair play to Martinez. Martinez is going to be awesome for Wigan. Zoggy is really going to develop under him too. Why is he going to be awesome? Judging from what I saw from Swansea last season. Excellent football from a team that didn't really have any outstanding players. Wigan already has some decent players in place and with the backing of Whelan, and Martinez smarts in the transfer market I think he will be really good. Hopefully, I think he'll do well to be fair although I keep thinking back to Ince when I see this situation, though Martinez will be a completely different kind of manager and a lot more creative than Ince was, plus the gap isn't as big.

  15. Never not enjoyed football as much as now,I don't think that's because we got relegated either, it was the same last season aswell. The Premiership has got significantly worse over the last 10 years, it's like no one gives a shit anymore, it was summed up with the F.A Cup final last season when the Everton players were like "oh well", that's not a criticism of Everton but the cup itself. I think it's just become far too predictable and static, when we broke into the top 4 we had spent peanuts compared to what clubs do now, it was built up over a few seasons and players like Bellamy and Dyer were moulded into good players, how can that happen now? Teams buy the best players and the rest go to worse teams and end up failing to progress. You know who's going to finish the top 4 this season, Man City may break in but we already know that's a possibility because they've spent millions, who saw us breaking into the top 4? No one did, that's what made it so refreshing to see. Football will never die, it's too popular, but it will become increasingly predictable and worthless the more this system continues.
