Jonas-Tioté-Cabaye-Hatem is a brilliant midfield if Jonas is on form. I'd say Cheik and Cabaye's workload enables someone like Hatem to drift infield and perhaps not track back as much as Jonas does, especially against lesser sides. When we play better teams we can just stick Abeid or Vuckic in the middle and take Best/Shola out of the equation to balance it a bit more.

If he plays on the wing but with the freedom of drifting in and around that "10" position, I reckon he can flourish and be satisfied with his position.
