  1. Apparently plays down Lampard's and Gerrard's abilities. A man of his professional pedigree, still feeling the urge to belittle such influential players' ability. I regard him as one the greats to have ever been involved in the game, but that's beyond me. What purpose does it serve?
  2. Redbull Arena would be fine with me as long as we we're benefiting on the pitch from the investment. Personally I draw the line at change of team colours/name/badge. Mostly this although I would like to see SJP incorporated into the Red Bull Arena name. NUFC is a world famous club, mainly because of its history both recent and back through the years ; reputedly, the Italian who formed Juventus decided they would play in B & W stripes because he was so impressed with the football he saw when he came to watch NUFC, then a top side. Surely, anyone taking the club over could see that some things about the club are too famous and important to change because they would gain nothing financially by doing it. ANY potential sponsor would be happy to be associated with us provided they knew there was ambition and real money going into making the club a regular competitor for the PL title and the CL...changing the club colours would not make a ha'porth of difference because most people associate the club with those stripes. Some of the other clubs mentioned as having changed strips etc are nowhere near as famous as us and therefore lost nothing by doing so whereas I believe we would. Many fans would not take kindly to a change of colours which totally removed the traditional Black and White so its hardly worth Red Bull doing so - there are plenty of ways they can improve Newcastle United but strip and name change is not part of that. It would take some major on-field success to get many fans to accept these things although consistently being in the PL top 4 and in the CL may make the pill easier to swallow.... The bit in bold is bollocks. Juventus got their black and white stripes from Notts County, which is why Notts County were invited to play Juventus at the inauguration of their new stadium in 2011. Aye, they received the wrong shipment (Notts County's instead) after ordering pink shirts and liked the B&W better.
  3. We're dangerousley close to not being the club I fell in love with almost 20 years ago. Finding it increasingly difficult to identify my support with what's being offered. I feel it and it affects me even though I'm not from Newcastle nor live there. It's been and is still such a big part of my life. Any change to the club's name, colours or anything close to that would kill it completley. Someone said something on here about protection should be offered for the heritage of clubs. I think that's a brilliant idea. My fear is that the next generation of football supporters, who grow up during the hyper-inflated and branded Premier League era, will have no qualms about changes being made to whatever, as long as it means world class players and the desired exposure.
  4. At our recent goal scoring/conceding rate, you'll want to see Sweden.
  5. Reckon we'd beat Greece and probably Ukraine. Croatia would be 50/50 even though they seem to be on s*** form. Portugal would be devastating. Fucking Lagerbäck and Iceland. What a guy he is.
  6. Just got back from Sweden-Germany. What the f*** happend? Hysén's fucking goal. Schürrle was a pisstake. And proud to have seen Özil live after tonight. His movement is different to any other player I've seen in flesh. That's 7-9 over two legs.
  7. Fucking shit. Taylor-Yanga vs Liverpool.

So, if the fans start accepting poor performances and results, we'd be a better club? Aye.
  9. Richards, Ince and Rémy permanentley in January would be good additions. Judging from Pardew yesterday though, nothing will come off unless we sell Cabaye.
  10. If you really think that you know nowt about either club. Dogleash is an absolute legend and icon as a player and a manager at LFC, JFK is what to us again? Come on man, even if you are just trying to compare their ability as a footballing asset to each club right now there is absolutely no comparison. Dogleash is widely respected at the club, with the fans, last time out won a cup, bigs the club up, understands it inside out, JFK does what to us again? Couldn't agree more. Seconded. Their level of delusion is definately comparable. I see your point, but in footballing capacity they're both detached from the current climate to the same degree. Neither is appointed on merit. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2426550/Kenny-Dalglish-My-Liverpool-return-success--Carling-Cup-win-better-Champions-League-spot.html
  11. I'm more disgusted by watching clubs with far less potential and infrastructure trying to do things. I look at Southampton and Swansea who are progressing nicely with the most basic and sensible approach there is: get the best possible people for the respective jobs, spending within their means, moving with the times. It's the fact that we've trapped ourselves in a home-made model of running a football club, with the wrong purposes, restricting us to a certain level of competence besides the playing staff, that drives me to the brink of depression. Everytime something seems to work in our favour (Rémy seemingly coming very good for example), all I need is to see Pardew's, Kinnear's or Ashley's name or face to be reminded about where we are, where we want to be and where we're heading. I've always been dreamy about Newcastle United, I think that's why I fell in love in the first place. It's the imaginairy mindset of Keegan and, perhaps even more in my case, Sir Bobby that rubbed off on me. That mentailty is as far gone as it could be. "Love it if we beat them" has been replaced by "Can't compete". I'm not dreamy anymore. Just cynical and increasingly apathetic.
  12. Mikael Almebäck (Club Brügge) in training, played in Sunday League-style cups against Albin Ekdal (Cagliari) and Philip Haglund (IFK Göteborg). About the three only players who's made it from Stockholm in the past century. Couple of my mates have played at decent level. Best story is when one mate faced Niklas Bendtner in Denmark at 15. He was strolling around, scored a goal, wearing pink shoes, hair in a pony tail, spat at someone and went off.
  13. Is JFK in charge of all transfer related matters? Would explain why there are no takers.
  14. Think we're seriously hindering Campbell from developing now. He's barely played senior football for two years and is 19 in January.

We've seen this win before. It's the 2nd half retreat that encapsulates his coward approach. He's never sure of what we're doing right, and when we're doing something right, his main aim is to ensure we don't lose it.

    Beautiful. That's it.
  17. Dalglish has a role at their club. On par with Kinnear.

Regardless of who's coming in, Pardew's had his run now. In fact, he had his run last season. This is just prolonging it. Bring on the next schmuck.
  19. Knowing nothing about football seems to get you jobs these days.

Well to be fair to Pardew, when you ask for a new player (and get one) you only later find out whether they actually play well for you. I would keep Mapou in obviously, but not sure your argument really works. I agree, Pardew can't be faulted for the signings he's given (even though he knew this was a situation he'd be faced with, so no real pity there either). But when he's asked to explain why we lose every other game, he's (naturally) pointed finger to the quality of certain players. He's then been given new players, but results have stayed the same. His preferred type of CB isn't really my point (and this is in response to Brett and Lotus as well). Regardless of the type of CB Mapou is, his explanation that he had no options, that we weren't strong enough in terms of depth etc. - those were his reasons for the bad results last year. Not the fact that we lacked a tactical game plan, preferred footballing philosophy or willingness to win games, that we changed formation every game, attacked with two players at a time, played with 3-4 players out of position. Those were the real reasons, not that Williamson had to play. I hope Ashley sees through his excuses this time.

We weren't strong enough "in terms of depth" last season according to Pardew. That's why he blamed the Europa League. It meant the likes of Williamson had to play. In January, he asked to get that situation rectified. Ashley obliged and Yanga-M'Biwa was brought in to get us better quality in that certain position. He's now reverting to Williamson. His explanatory model is falling apart, hopefully in Ashley's eyes as well. It's the same shambles it's been for the past 12 months, despite us having next to no injuries, extra games or too few players.

Nah. I want him out but no way on God's Earth would I ever want a defeat to achieve it. Who's to say for instance even if we lose that he'll be shown the door? If it means there'll be some sort of change, I'm at that point now. Hasn't happend since Souness. But for the good of the club, IF it means he'll go, I'd take it.

Fingers crossed it's his last game tomorrow. I'd take the loss to get rid of him. It's been an unbearable 12 months watching us.
